Abstract

In the modern era of the maritime world, the learning process related to ship machinery is essential and crucial for students to master. So many effective learning methods are used, one of which is the learning method using machining aids on ships. Therefore, making ship machining aids is an exciting thing to work on in this modern era. The type of teaching aid made by the author is a solenoid valve controlled by Arduino on a freshwater generator teaching aid. The method used is research and development, a process or steps to develop a new product or improve an existing product, both hardware and software. The model in this development research is a procedural model, which outlines the manufacturing steps exposed sequentially and gradually from the beginning to the end. The solenoid valve control model by Arduino on the freshwater generator teaching aid utilizes two electronic modules: the Arduino Uno type module and the one-channel timer delay relay module. The two modules are programmed directly with the buttons on the module. The working system in this prop is that the heater is filled with water and then heated, and then the water vapor is flowed through the transfer pipe and condensed using a condensor and holding tank. This system can run because of the automation control system in the electronic module.

Abstract

The Seafarer's Skills Test (UKP) is a competency evaluation system that must be followed by sailors to obtain a skills certificate according to their level and field. The purpose of this activity is to provide an introduction and understanding to maritime cadets regarding the machinery system on board the ship so that cadets can prepare themselves for the comprehensive seafarer's skills exam practice. The method used in implementing this activity is to use a practical method, namely participants practice all the scenarios that have been explained previously to determine the extent of the cadets' knowledge and abilities in understanding the given practical scenarios and at the beginning a pre-test is given and at the end of the familiarization the participants are given a post-test questionnaire. The results of this activity are an increase in the understanding of cadets from 7 cadets or 35% to 16 cadets or 80% after participating in the familiarization activity. Meanwhile, cadets who do not understand have decreased significantly from 13 cadets or 65% to 4 cadets or 20%. This means that cadets are able to understand the structure and format of the exam that will be faced, recognize the types of scenarios and the time given so that cadets are prepared to face the comprehensive seafarer's skills exam. It is concluded that the simulator familiarization activity can increase the understanding of maritime cadets regarding the machinery system on board the ship so that cadets can prepare themselves for the comprehensive seafarer's skills exam practice.

Abstract

The main engine serves as the primary power source for propelling the ship forward and backward. This engine operates on an internal combustion system, where fuel and air are compressed in the combustion chamber to generate thermal energy, which is then converted into mechanical energy through piston movement. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method with SHEL data analysis techniques, identifying the causative factors, impacts, and corrective measures associated with the non-rotation of the valve rotator in the main engine. The findings indicate that the primary cause of the valve rotator's non-rotation is improper installation of the valve collet and wear on the valve rotator body, which affects valve performance and reduces the overall efficiency of the main engine. Corrective actions include replacing the valve rotator and performing routine lubrication checks to prevent further damage.

Abstract

Sosialisasi kesehatan dan keselamatan kerja serta perlindungan lingkungan maritim bagi masyarakat nelayan dilaksanakan di Desa Pasir, Kecamatan Ayah, Kabupaten Kebumen, Jawa Tengah. Kegiatan sosialisasi ini dilaksanakan oleh Politeknik Ilmu Pelayaran Semarang yang bertujuan untuk pengabdian kepada masyarakat sebagai bentuk nyata akan pentingnya kesehatan dan keselamatan kerja serta perlindungan lingkungan maritim yang berkomitmen untuk keberlanjutan sumber daya alam bagi generasi berikutnya.

Abstract

Pemuatan batu bara merupakan kegiatan yang banyak dilakukan di loading point, salah satunya adalah di loading point Muara Berau Anchorage yang terletak pada Provinsi Kalimantan Timur. Pemuatan batu bara di MV Victoria I yang mengalami kerendahan loading rate sehingga mengakibatkan pengiriman muatan batu bara menuju pelabuhan selanjutnya tidak selesai dengan cepat dan berjalan dengan lambat. Sehingga penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui faktor dan dampak apa saja yang mempengaruhi rendahnya loading rate pemuatan batu bara serta upaya yang dilakukan agar loading rate terpenuhi pada MV Victoria I. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu kualitatif deskriptif yaitu menguraikan data secara naratif dengan mendeskripsikan proses yang terjadi di dalam penelitian menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data seperti observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi, dan studi pustaka selama melakukan penelitian dengan berbagai narasumber yang terkait seperti Mualim 1, Foreman, dan Staf Operasional PT IDT Trans Agency Samarinda. Data kemudian dianalisis dengan berbagai teknik yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Selanjutnya, data tersebut diuji keabsahannya dengan sistem triangulasi. Penelitian ini menghasilkan faktor yang menyebabkan rendahnya loading rate yaitu pada salah satu derek kapal yang rusak yaitu derek kapal nomor 2 dan peralatan bongkar muat berupa derek kapal yang harus dioperasikan secara perlahan. Dampak yang ditimbulkan yaitu terlambatnya pengiriman muatan batu bara di pelabuhan selanjutnya dan kerugian bagi berbagai pihak. Lalu upaya yang dapat dilakukan yaitu dengan melakukan perawatan kapal secara teratur dan menyediakan suku cadang peralatan bongkar muat yang lengkap di kapal.

Abstract

Air conditioner (AC) is a device or system designed to change the temperature and humidity of the air in a room to create comfortable air conditions. The main function of an air conditioner is to cool the air when the outdoor temperature is too high and to remove excess humidity when the air is too humid. The research method used in this thesis is qualitative. Data sources were obtained from primary and secondary data collection. Data collection techniques used observation, interviews, literature study, and documentation. The data analysis technique used in this research is the Miles and Huberman method. They are testing the validity of the data using the triangulation method. The research results stated that the factors causing the lack of Air Conditioner maintenance on MT ships. Tanker Lineo 101 is a lack of maintenance of the Main Air Conditioner resulting in damage to components caused by non-compliance with the Plan Mantenance System (PMS). The suggestion from the researchers is that the ship and the company should further improve maintenance routines in accordance with the Plant Maintenance System (PMS) so that costs are not excessive and if the Main Air Conditioner is damaged, the person in charge should carry out repairs according to the instructions provided in the manual book Air conditioner (AC) adalah perangkat atau sistem yang dirancang untuk mengubah suhu dan kelembapan udara di dalam sebuah ruangan untuk menciptakan kondisi udara yang nyaman. Fungsi utama dari air conditioner adalah untuk mendinginkan udara pada saat suhu di luar ruangan terlalu tinggi dan untuk menghilangkan kelembapan berlebih pada saat udara terlalu lembab. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif. Sumber data yang diperoleh dari pengumpulan data primer dan sekunder. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi observasi, wawancara, studi pustaka dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode Miles and Huberman. Pengujian keabsahaan data dengan menggunakan metode triangulasi. Dari hasil penelitian diketahui penyebab minimnya peralatan AC di kapal. Pada kapal tanker "Lineo 101", sistem pendingin udara utama tidak dirawat dan bagian-bagiannya rusak karena tidak mematuhi jadwal perawatan "PMS". Saran dari penelitian ini adalah pihak kapal serta pihak perusahaan agar lebih meningkatkan rutinitas perawatan sesuai dengan Plant Mantenance System (PMS) agar biaya tidak berlebih dan bila Main Air Conditioner mengalami kerusakan, sebaiknya penanggung jawab melakukan perbaikan sesuai intruksi yang di berikan manual book.
