Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed almost all lines of life in the affected communities, including education. The government's efforts to protect citizens from the spread of COVID-19, learning activities are carried out from home. Therefore, the teacher as the main role in the delivery of learning must be able to make a strategy so that the lesson reaches the students. In running the e-learning program, teachers must be able to build good and effective communication to all members who play a role in the implementation of the electronic learning program. The teacher's effective communication strategy is to optimize the teacher's skills in managing learning effectively and efficiently, preparing interesting learning materials and methods, ensuring students' readiness to accept learning, utilizing learning support media and evaluation related to feedback from students after receiving the material. The e-learning program has an impact on changing the learning culture that refers to the concept of student self-learning, so teachers and students can take advantage of digital platforms that provide communication support applications to carry out learning with guaranteed access whenever and wherever teachers and students are.

Abstract

This study explores the implementation of Green Technology (Greentech) in the dual domains of administrative management and pedagogical processes within Islamic education institutions (madrasahs, Islamic schools, and pesantren). It investigates the potential of Greentech—encompassing energy-efficient hardware, paperless systems, cloud computing, digital learning platforms, and IoT-based resource monitoring—to reduce environmental impact while enhancing operational efficiency and learning outcomes. Employing a mixed-methods sequential explanatory design, the research first surveyed a broad sample of institutions to map adoption levels, followed by in-depth case studies of early adopters. Findings indicate significant potential for reducing carbon footprint and operational costs through virtualization of services, e-learning integration, and smart facility management. However, major challenges persist, including high initial investment, digital literacy gaps among educators, concerns over technology's influence on traditional Islamic pedagogy (talaqqi), and inadequate technological infrastructure. The study concludes that a strategic, values-driven approach aligning Greentech adoption with maqashid sharia (particularly hifdz al-mal/resource preservation) is crucial. It presents a phased integration model that prioritizes technologies offering both environmental and educational benefits, advocating for a balanced fusion of technological efficiency and the preservation of relational, character-based Islamic learning.

Abstract

This study examines the management processes involved in developing green infrastructure for Islamic educational institutions, specifically focusing on the construction of madrasah buildings using green building concepts. It investigates how environmental sustainability principles can be systematically integrated into the planning, design, construction, and operational phases of madrasah development projects. Utilizing a qualitative case study approach combined with document analysis, this research analyzes two madrasah building projects in Indonesia that have implemented green building strategies. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with project managers, architects, contractors, madrasah leaders, and stakeholders, alongside analysis of project documents, designs, and specifications. Findings reveal that successful implementation requires an integrated management approach encompassing green design adaptation to local context, sustainable material sourcing, energy and water efficiency integration, waste management during construction, and life-cycle cost considerations. The study identifies key enablers including leadership commitment, technical expertise, community participation, and Islamic ethical alignment, while highlighting challenges such as budget constraints, regulatory gaps, and technical capacity limitations. This research contributes a framework for madrasah green building project management that balances environmental responsibility with educational functionality and Islamic architectural values.

Abstract

This study investigates the formation and sustenance of a Green Organizational Culture within Islamic schools, focusing on the pivotal role of teachers' akhlak (ethical character) and their exemplary behavior (qudwah hasanah) as the primary drivers. A Green Organizational Culture is defined as a shared set of values, beliefs, and practices that prioritize environmental stewardship, sustainability, and ecological responsibility as integral to the school's identity and daily operations. Employing an ethnographic case study approach, this research was conducted at two Islamic secondary schools recognized for their proactive environmental programs. Data were gathered through prolonged observation, in-depth interviews with teachers and students, and analysis of school artifacts. Findings reveal that teacher akhlak—manifested as personal environmental mindfulness, consistency between words and actions, and moral motivation rooted in Islamic teachings—is the cornerstone for authentic cultural change. Teachers who embody green values act as transformative agents, legitimizing environmental norms, inspiring student imitation, and embedding sustainability into the hidden curriculum. The study concludes that institutional green policies are insufficient without the cultivation of akhlak-based environmental ethics among educators. It proposes a model of "Akhlak-Based Eco-Pedagogy" for teacher development.
