Abstract

This study explores the contribution of Muhammad Abid al-Jabiri's thought to the reform of Islamic education in Morocco, inspiring a balanced integration of tradition and modernity. This research is significant given the challenges of globalization and radicalism that Islamic education systems experience. Previous studies have primarily focused on historical and structural aspects and have yet to delve into the impact of al-Jabiri's ideas on policies and curricula. This research uses a qualitative approach based on content analysis to examine historical documents, educational policies, and al-Jabiri's works, such as Naqd al-Aql al-Arabi, to analyze the influence of his ideas on integrating religious and modern scientific knowledge. The analysis evaluates the transformation of Islamic education across three significant periods: pre-colonial, colonial, and post-colonial. The findings reveal that al-Jabiri's thought has successfully inspired curricula rooted in values of rationality and moderation, which are relevant for addressing globalization challenges without losing Islamic identity. These reforms promote inclusive and globally competitive education. The study recommends an integrative education model based on moderation as a solution to create an inclusive and tolerant society. Further research is needed to understand the long-term impacts of these reforms on social development and Islamic identity in the modern era.

Abstract

The phenomenon of early retirement is alarming and not only affects the quality of education, but also creates a shortage of experienced teachers. This article aims to analyze the main factors driving teacher early retirement, focusing on excessive workload, administrative pressure, low levels of teacher welfare, and the role of government policy in responding to this issue. The results show that high workload, administrative tasks unrelated to teaching, leadership, and lack of support from the school administration are the main causes of early retirement. In addition, low teacher welfare, both physically and mentally, exacerbates the situation. The article concludes that policy interventions that support teacher welfare, workload reduction and school infrastructure improvement are needed to address this issue.

A country's concern for education is highly dependent on the progress of a country. then a country's indifference to education lies in the education of its decline or backwardness. In historical experience, no country has been able to achieve true progress except by improving education. Education is the key to the progress of a nation. There is no developed country that is not supported by strong education. Education must be made a field of excellence if it is to become a strong, advanced and internationally respected country. Sudan is a Muslim-majority country that has often experienced several wars and conflicts, so that this country has lagged behind in various fields, including economic, social, political, especially in the field of education. Politically, this country has a different experience from other Muslim countries. Sudan, which was originally one country, is now divided into two countries, namely North Sudan and South Sudan. In the field of education, the country is experiencing a crisis that hinders education for most of these children. Schools across the country are often closed due to fighting and threats of violence, and hundreds of schools and other civilian assets are looted and destroyed. The language of instruction used at all levels is Arabic. In the field of formal education, the country has many renowned universities that are tens or even hundreds of years old. These universities include Khartoum University, Omdurman Islamic University, el-Nilein University, Khartoum International Arabic Language Institute, Al-Quran al-Karim University and the youngest, Africa International University. In the field of non-formal education, many scientific assemblies use the talaqqi system through masyakh. To finance education, apart from being obtained from state money, it is also obtained from the policy of the waqf system with the management of waqf called the Islamic Waqf Board which has been given broad authority to regulate and carry out all tasks related to waqf which greatly helps the process of waqf and the implementation of education in this country.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the Indonesian government’s policies to improve education quality and their implications for the advancement of Islamic education. Over the past two decades, education quality has become a central issue in the national education system, especially following the implementation of various policies such as the National Education Standards (SNP), the Education Quality Assurance System (SPMP), teacher certification, professional education programs (PPG), and the Merdeka Belajar–Kampus Merdeka initiative. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method using a library research approach through the analysis of legal documents, ministerial reports, books, and scholarly journals published between 2019 and 2025. The findings indicate that government policies to improve education quality have significantly contributed to strengthening Islamic education systems in both public and religious schools. Curriculum reform, teacher professionalism, and the digitalization of madrasahs have become key drivers in Islamic education development. However, implementation challenges persist, including regional quality disparities, limited human resources, and uneven institutional capacity. Therefore, synergy between the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Religious Affairs is essential to establish an integrated quality assurance system consistent with Islamic values.

Abstract

The advent of Industrial Revolution 4.0 and 5.0 has precipitated substantial changes across myriad fields, including higher education. These developments have been particularly pronounced in America, Europe, the United Kingdom, China, and Asia. Islamic universities, in particular, confront distinctive challenges in adapting to technological advancements such as Big Data and Omics (in the health sector) following the emergence of the novel Coronavirus, while concurrently upholding Islamic principles within the educational curriculum. This article aims to examine adaptation strategies that can be implemented by Indonesian Islamic universities in facing this digital transformation era. Using a literature review approach and conceptual analysis, this article explores the integration of Big Data technology to support data-based decision-making, the development of Omics-based research in biotechnology and health, and curriculum development efforts that combine technology and Islamic values. The results of this study demonstrate that the successful adaptation of Islamic higher education in Indonesia is contingent upon the enhancement of collaboration between academia, industry, and the community, the improvement of digital literacy among faculty and students, and the promotion of policies that demonstrate responsiveness to technological developments. In conclusion, Islamic higher education should aspire to a proactive role in the integration of modern technology with Islamic values, with the objective of creating a more relevant and internationally competitive educational ecosystem.
