Abstract

In the era of globalization, multilingual mastery is a crucial factor in dealing with the dynamics of the world and increasing competitiveness in various sectors, including in Islamic boarding schools. Multilingual boarding schools are Islamic educational institutions that develop the ability to use several languages. The purpose of this study was to examine the development of the Arabic language curriculum at a multilingual boarding school, namely Modern 4-Language Boarding School Al-Muhibbin. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach. Data collection techniques were interviews, observations, and documentation studies. This study found that curriculum development management takes place through three stages: planning, implementation, and evaluation. In the planning stage, the four-language curriculum is systemized into one with rotational cycle management every six months. However, in various activities the use of Arabic is more dominant. Curriculum implementation is supported by the use of structured teaching materials, the use of technology, the application of bi'ah lughawiyyah, and extracurricular programs. Meanwhile, the evaluation stage is conducted formatively and summatively to assess the effectiveness of learning and provide feedback for continuous improvement. The evaluation results show that there is an improvement in students' skills especially speaking and reading skills.

Abstract

This study analyzes the comparison of lateral and inferential reading comprehension levels between high school and college students in Lamongan Regency using a quantitative approach. The participants included 300 high school students and 372 college students. Data were collected through reading comprehension tests and analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test to determine significant differences. The results showed that the average lateral comprehension score was 60.145 for high school students and 63.135 for college students. The Mann-Whitney test yielded a value of 45.693, with a p-value of 0.000, indicating a very significant difference. For inferential comprehension, the average score for college students was 56.99, while for high school students, it was 44.92. The Mann-Whitney test yielded 19,597.5, with a p-value of 0.0000862, confirming a significant difference. These findings suggest that college students have significantly higher lateral and inferential reading comprehension than high school students. This difference may be influenced by educational experience, critical thinking skills, and exposure to complex texts at the college level.

Abstract

Filologi adalah bidang kajian yang mempelajari sejarah, pranata, dan kehidupan suatu bangsa yang terdapat dalam naskah lama. Salah satu sub bidang penting dalam filologi adalah kodikologi yang merupakan cabang filologi yang mempelajari manuskrip dari segi fisik dan materialnya. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui tren penggunaan topik dan metode penelitian bidang filologi kajian kodikologi dengan rentang tahun 2019-2024. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan metode studi pustaka (library research). Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara mendokumentasikan artikel yang sesuai dengan kriteria yang telah ditentukan. Setiap artikel yang terpilih kemudian dikaji untuk mencatat beberapa aspek penting, yakni nama penulis, tahun terbit, judul, topik artikel, serta metode yang digunakan oleh penulis dalam penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan topik dan metode penelitian bidang filologi kajian kodikologi dari tahun 2019 hingga 2024 memiliki variasi masing-masing. Topik yang digunakan pada tahun 2019-2024 tidak lepas dari manuskrip dengan bahasa Melayu-Jawi atau Arab Pegon. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yakni metode penelitian kualitatif serta metode lainnya seperti penelitian kepustakaan dan lapangan, serta pendekatan historis-periodik.

Abstract

The aim of this research is the role of language in strengthening the character of class II students at Guppi Islamic Elementary School, Sorong City. The research method used in this research is a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques in this research are observation, interviews and literature study. Data analysis techniques in this research include data collection, data display, data reduction, and drawing conclusions. The results of the research show that 1) The role of language is proven to be very significant in forming the character of class II students at GUPPI Islamic Elementary School, Sorong City. The use of polite and structured language in learning not only improves students' communication skills, but also forms better personalities, 2) 2. The school's efforts to optimize the role of language have been carried out systematically through various programs such as "Polite Language", "Literacy Corner" , and teacher training, and 3) The main challenges faced in implementing character strengthening programs through language include gaps in language skills between students, the influence of social media, and inconsistencies in language use between the school and home environments. In conclusion, the role of language is effective in strengthening the character of class II students at Guppi Islamic Elementary School, Sorong City.

Abstract

Article writing is an important skill for teachers in professional development. However, junior high school Indonesian teachers in Surabaya face many obstacles in writing articles, among the obstacles are the teachers do not know the material that can be used as articles and the teachers do not know about the latest technology that can be utilized in writing articles. This mentoring activity aims to provide services for junior high school Indonesian language teachers in Surabaya in writing articles by utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology. This activity was attended by 30 junior high school Indonesian language teachers in Surabaya, both private and public schools. The method of this mentoring activity consists of presentations, discussions, and practices in providing understanding and practical skills to junior high school Indonesian teachers in Surabaya. The results of the mentoring activities in Surabaya showed that 77.8% of the mentoring teachers did not know about articles and 66.7% of the mentoring teachers were not familiar with AI applications for article writing. In addition, the feedback results of the mentoring participants showed that the material was very suitable for the needs of the mentoring participants and the methods used during the mentoring were very effective.

Abstract

Dalam konteks peningkatan mutu pendidikan vokasi, diperlukan upaya sistematis untuk mencetak lulusan yang tidak hanya kompeten secara profesional, tetapi juga berakhlak mulia dan berdaya saing di era digital. Keterampilan guru dalam mengintegrasikan teknologi masih perlu ditingkatkan agar digitalisasi pendidikan dapat berjalan optimal. Program kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat di Kelompok Guru Kejuruan SMK Sunanul Muhtadin bertujuan untuk mengatasi masalah-masalah tersebut dengan cara meningkatkan minat baca siswa dan kemampuan guru dalam menggunakan teknologi pendidikan. Pelatihan dan pengembangan digitalisasi sumber belajar literasi, melalui penerapan QR Code berbasis website, diharapkan dapat membangkitkan minat baca dikalangan siswa serta meningkatkan keterampilan kepada guru dalam menciptakan sumber belajar digital yang interaktif. Metode pelatihan yang disampaikan diantaranya presentasi, diskusi, dan praktik. Hasil pelatihan terdapat peningkatan literasi siswa dari 65% menajdi 85%. Guru juga lebih kreatif dalam menyiapkan sumber belajar digital. Dari sisi manfaat kegiatan ini memiliki dampak terhadap peningkatan literasi siswa. Adapun tindak lanjut dari kegiatan adalah melakukan pendampingan berkelanjutan, mendorong kolaborasi antar guru dalam pengembangan konten, serta melakukan evaluasi dan diseminasi hasil untuk memastikan keberlanjutan dan dampak positif bagi SMK Sunanul Muhtadin Gresik.

Abstract

This research is based on the phenomenon of depicting psychopathic behavior in literature, particularly through fictional characters that show the psychological complexity of humans. This study aims to describe the characteristics of psychopathic behavior and reveal the factors causing the formation of psychopathic personality in the character Imelda in the novel Pasien by Naomi Midori. This research applies a descriptive qualitative method with a content analysis design. The approach used is literary psychology. The data sources consist of narrative quotations, dialogues, and descriptions of Imelda’s actions in the novel. The research instrument is a text content analysis guide made based on the indicators of Robert Hare’s psychopathy theory and Sigmund Freud’s personality theory. Data collection techniques were carried out through documentation studies with stages of intensive reading, data identification, data selection, and data organization. Data analysis techniques use content analysis which includes determining the analysis object, focusing on analysis categories, classifying data, interpreting data, and formulating conclusions. The research results show that Imelda depicts twelve psychopathic traits according to Robert Hare’s theory, such as charming speaking ability, egocentric and arrogant, lack of remorse, absence of empathy, manipulative nature, impulsive, need for stimulation, poor emotional control, irresponsibility, early behavioral disorders, and antisocial attitude. In addition, four factors causing the formation of psychopathic behavior were found based on Freud’s theory, namely dominance of the id, weakness of the superego, ego dysfunction, and childhood trauma. The research conclusion affirms that Imelda’s psychopathic behavior is the result of interaction between internal psychological factors and traumatic experiences. Research suggestions are directed to future researchers to use more varied objects, theories, or approaches to enrich literary psychology research.

Abstract

This study examines the behavior of the character Karang in the serial film Aku Tak Memenang Hujan using B.F. Skinner’s behaviorist literary psychology approach. This study aims to describe the forms of stimulus, response, and behavioral effects of the character Karang that emerge as a result of interaction with the surrounding environment. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative method with data sources in the form of the serial film Aku Tak Memenang Hujan. The data collection technique is carried out through documentation in the form of screenshots of scene clips containing elements of stimulus, response, and the effects of the character’s behavior. The collected data are then analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Based on the results and discussion of the research on the serial film Aku Tak Memenang Hujan using Skinner’s behaviorist psychology theory, three things can be concluded. First, this study has found various forms of stimulus originating from the surrounding environment Karang undergoes a learning process. These stimuli come from the family environment, school, and social environment that influence changes in the behavior of the character Karang. Second, the response shown by the character Karang appears as a direct reaction to the stimulus he receives, whether in the form of an emotional response, a verbal response, or a physical response. Third, the effects of this response impact the behavior and psychological state of Karang’s characters, characterized by the emergence of childhood trauma, internal conflict, and personality disorders.

Abstract

Film serves as a form of literary presentation on the screen. It represents one of the most effective modern literary media for depicting societal conditions (Sayoga, 2020). Abrams proposes an approach to literary works grounded in objective principles, with an emphasis on literary structure (Teeuw, 2017). A key research concept within the sociology of literature is Emile Durkheim's theory of social facts. Social facts are defined as ways of acting, thinking, and feeling that are external to the individual and possess a coercive power (Adam, 2024). Durkheim categorizes social facts into two types: material and non-material. This study examines the forms of story facts based on Abrams' model and Emile Durkheim's social facts as depicted in the 2025 film *Jumbo*. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method. The primary data source is the 2025 film "Jumbo" by Ryan Andriandhy, with data consisting of transcripts of dialogue, transcripts of conflict scenes, and documentation transcripts. Data collection techniques involved observation and documentation utilizing the script transcript of the film "Jumbo" (2025). The findings reveal Abrams' story facts, encompassing characters and characterization, plot, and setting. Additionally, Emile Durkheim's social facts are identified, including material social facts (local shops, radio, and civic laws) and non-material social facts (morality, collective consciousness, collective representation, and anomie). These findings are correlated with real-world conditions.
