Abstract

Dalam memenuhi kebutuhan armada pelayaran maka kapal harus dalam kondisi laik laut. Permesinan kapal khususnya mesin diesel generator merupakan pesawat bantu yang berfungsi menyediakan listrik di atas kapal. Untuk itu diesel generator perlu mendapatkan perhatian yang serius dari para Masinis di kapal. Khususnya pada waktu mesin diesel generator bekerja akan menimbulkan panas. Panas itu dihasilkan dari hasil pembakaran bahan bakar di dalam silinder. Generator di kapal merupakan alat bantu di kapal yang berguna untuk memenuhi kebutuhan listrik diatas kapal. Pada dasarnya generator berfungsi untuk mengubah tenaga mekanik menjadi tenaga listrik, bilamana rotor di putar maka lilitan kawatnya akan memotong gaya-gaya magnet pada kutubnya sehingga terjadi perbedaan tegangan, dengan dasar ini timbulah arus listrik, arus melalui kabel yang kedua ujungnya dihubungkan dengan cincin geser, pada cincin tersebut menggeser sikat-sikat sebagai terminal penghubung keluarnya arus. Pada saat mesin diesel bekerja akan menimbulkan terjadinya panas yang diakibatkan dari pembakaran bahan bakar di dalam silinder, karena itu sistem pendinginnya harus bekerja secara normal dan harus selalu diperhatikan temperaturnya pada saat mesin menyala.

Abstract

Dari berbagai tipe dan jenis kapal, terdapat kapal yang didesain khusus untuk memuat muatan dalam bentuk cair dan disebut sebagai kapal tanker. Safety Of Life At Sea (SOLAS) mensyaratkan bahwa kapal tanker yang dibuat pada bulan Juni 1983 dengan bobot mati di atas 20.000 ton sudah harus dilengkapi dengan Inert Gas System sebagai salah satu sistem pencegahan terjadinya kebakaran dan ledakan dalam tangki muatan. Tujuan penilitian ini untuk mengetahui penyebab terjadinya kebocoran cover end dan terbakarnya tabung ruang bakar (burner cone) pada Inert Gas Generator. Metode pendekatan yang digunakan yaitu studi kasus, problem solving, dan deskriptif kualitatif, sehingga dapat ditemukan penyebab masalah menggunakan Teknik analisis fishbone diagram. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penyebab terjadinya kebocoran cover end adalah korosi, dan terbakarnya burner cone disebabkan oleh adanya komponen yang tidak terpasang pada main burner.

Abstract

PT. Andhika Lines cabang Merak salah satu perusahaan pelayaran jasa keagenan kapal, tugas dan fungsi sebagai agen adalah mengurus kegiatan operasional kedatangan dan keberangkatan kapal (clereance in dan clereance out), penyandaran kapal dan mengurus dokumen bongkar-muat, dokumen awak kapal dan juga mengurus kebutuhan kapal lainnya, seperti pengisian bahan bakar minyak dan pengisian air tawar di pelabuhan Merak. Dengan banyaknya kegiatan yang akan dikerjakan, namun staf pengelola semua kegiatan hanya 5 orang. Setelah dicermati antara jumah karyawan (staf) dengan bobot pekerjaan yang harus dilakukan tidaklah seimbang, sebagai contoh adanya pekerjaan keagenan yang tertunda penyelesaiannya. Faktor lainnya yang menyebabkan terhambatnya pelayanan kapal adalah sarana yang kurang memadai sehingga menghambat aktifitas kerja para karyawan. Misalnya jumlah kendaraan yang kurang memadai, ruang kerja kurang nyaman dan peralatan kerja tidak lengkap, semua itu berdampak terhadap jumlah kedatangan pelanggan. Berdasarkan hal tersebut dipandang dilakukan pelitian tentang upaya yang harus dilakukan agar perusahaan lebih dapat meningkatkan pendapatannya. Untuk memecahkan persoalan tersebut, hasil penelitian dibahas dengan metode deskriptif kuantitatif (menganalisis data dengan cara mendeskripsikan atau menggambarkan data yang telah terkumpul sebagaimana adanya (correlational research). Dengan demikian permasalahannya dapat dirumuskan sebagai berikut ; Seberapa besar pengaruh pelayanan jasa keagenan kapal terhadap jumlah kunjungan kapal. Seberapa besar pengaruh sarana penunjang kegiatan keagenan kapal terhadap jumlah kunjungan kapal. Seberapa besar pengaruh pelayanan jasa keagenan kapal dan sarana penunjangnya secara bersama-sama terhadap jumlah kunjungan kapal yang diageni. Setelah dilakukan pengolahan data dengan mengunakan SPSS, didapat hasilnya sebagai berikut : Pengaruh pelayanan jasa keagenan kapal terhadap kunjungan kapal sebesar 97,4 % (sangat signifikan). Pengaruh sarana penunjang terhadap kunjungan kapal sebesar 97,2 % (sangat signifikan) Besarnya pengaruh pelayanan jasa keagenan kapal dan pengaruh sarana penunjang secara bersamaan terhadap kunjungan kapal yaitu sebesar 98,1 % (sangat signifikan). Jadi agar kunjungan kapal di PT. Andhika Lines Cabang Merak dapat meningkat sesuai target, maka pihak manajemen PT. Andhhika Lines Cabang Merak harus memperbaiki sistem pelayanan dan pembaharuan sarana penunjang sesuai kebutuhan pelanggan.

Abstract

PT Barakomindo Shipping Dumai merupakan perusahaan jasa keagenan kapal yang mengageni kapal asing maupun kapal yang ada didalam negeri. Berdasarkan data permasalahan yang ada membahas tentang keterlambatan pelayanan jasa clearance in dan out dan menurunnya jumlah kapal yang menggunakan jasa keagenan PT Barakomindo Shipping Dumai. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui sejauh mana pengaruh keterlambatan pelayanan jasa clearance in dan out dan menurunnya jumlah kunjungan kapal yang menggunakan jasa keagenan. Dalam penelitian ini hasil data diperoleh pengaruh pelayanan jasa clearance dan jumlah kapal yang menggunakan jasa keagenan kapal. Perusahaan harus memperhatikan bagaimana karyawan melaksanakan pelayanan jasa clearance dan jasa keagenan kapal, dan perusahaan harus memperhatikan hal-hal yang dapat mendorong karyawan agar mendapatkan motivasi kerja.

Abstract

This academic research delves into the critical examination of the computer literacy and socioreligious perspectives of first-year cadets enrolled in the International Maritime Education programme at Maritime Institute Jakarta (STIP Jakarta). The study focuses on 200 randomly selected cadets who represent a diverse range of cultural and linguistic backgrounds within Indonesia. As future global officers, these cadets are integral to the maritime sector's international landscape and are expected to communicate fluently in English, adhering to the standards set by the International Maritime Organization's International Maritime Education and Training (IMO-STCW) guidelines. The research is centred on the first semester cadets, freshly graduated from senior high school, enrolled in three majors: Nautical, Technical, and Port and Shipping Management. These majors collectively contribute to the production of qualified seamen, deck officers, and engine officers. The investigation employs qualitative research methods and descriptive analysis to comprehend the cadets' competences in computer literacy. The focal point is the introductory study of computer science and maritime technology tailored for the Nautical and Technical majors. Moreover, the research incorporates an examination of the socioreligious dimensions influencing the cadets' perspectives on their educational journey. Given that the cadets hail from diverse regions of Indonesia, they bring with them a rich tapestry of linguistic and cultural practices, utilising both Bahasa Indonesia and their traditional languages in their daily lives. The study aims to understand how these socioreligious factors intertwine with their academic pursuits and adherence to international standards. In conclusion, this research contributes to the broader discourse on maritime education by providing insights into the intersection of computer literacy, socioreligious perspectives, and international competencies among first-year cadets. The findings are expected to inform educational strategies and policies to better prepare cadets for the evolving demands of the global maritime industry.

Abstract

This research investigates language instruction strategies and professionalism alignment within maritime education, focusing on 45 junior cadets. Through qualitative analysis, findings reveal varying language proficiency levels among cadets, with a predominant need for technical terminology mastery and communicative competence. Additionally, cadets emphasize the importance of practical learning experiences, such as shipboard training, and the integration of cross-cultural competence training. The research highlights the alignment between language instruction practices and international standards, notably the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping (STCW) convention. Moreover, professionalism attributes, including safety awareness, ethical conduct, and leadership skills, are identified as integral components of maritime education. Recommendations include the integration of specialized language resources, continuous evaluation of instructional practices, and the promotion of ethical leadership. By addressing language instruction needs and professionalism requirements, maritime education institutions can enhance cadets' readiness for successful careers in the maritime industry.

Abstract

This academic exploration delves into the nuanced competencies and dynamics shaping the academic journey of Semester 1 cadets at a distinguished Maritime Institute. Focusing on computer literacy, technological proficiency, and sociocultural influences, our qualitative descriptive approach seeks to unveil the intricate dimensions of contemporary maritime education. The assessment of computer literacy reveals varying competencies, urging the need for a tailored curriculum. While basics like office software and digital navigation are strong, disparities in data analysis proficiency call for targeted interventions. The implications highlight the necessity for a stratified curriculum, ensuring a comprehensive skill set in line with modern maritime demands. Cadets overwhelmingly endorse technology's role in enhancing education, signalling a paradigm shift. Positive attitudes towards online resources, digital simulations, and e-learning platforms advocate for an institutional embrace of cutting-edge tools. Recommendations focus on faculty development and increased technology integration, promising an enriched pedagogical landscape. The exploration of sociocultural influences uncovers a delicate balance between tradition and the necessity of English proficiency. Nuanced strategies are essential to integrate diverse cultural backgrounds. Recommendations call for cultural awareness initiatives and language support programs, aligning the institution with the global orientation of maritime education. In qualitative insights, cadets express a collective desire for a more intentional curriculum, particularly in incorporating cultural perspectives. This aligns with the broader scholarly discourse advocating for holistic education. Proposed avenues include workshops, seminars, and collaborations with cultural experts, providing a roadmap for curriculum development congruent with the diverse needs of Semester 1 cadets. This research, rooted in rigorous academic inquiry, serves as a guide for the Maritime Institute, steering its trajectory towards producing technologically adept professionals who are equally culturally astute, ready to navigate the complex global maritime landscape.

Abstract

This research investigates methods to enhance multimodal route optimization in the maritime sector through the integration of real-time traffic data and professionalism standards. Conducted by researchers and lecturers at the Maritime Institute, the study involves 100 cadets predominantly studying multimodal transportation, logistics, and port management. The research utilises qualitative methods to explore cadets' perspectives on route optimization and professionalism in the industry. Findings reveal a recognition of the significance of real-time traffic data for informed routing decisions, along with an emphasis on compliance with international standards, training, and ethical considerations. Furthermore, cadets perceive machine learning algorithms as effective tools to address the complexities of route optimization. These insights contribute to advancing knowledge in transportation management and education, highlighting the importance of integrating real-time data and professionalism in enhancing route optimization practices.

Abstract

Mualim has an important role in carrying out ship movement while sailing for the safety of all crew members. In this case the officer has the responsibility to carry out guard duty on the bridge. This study aims to further increase knowledge about the importance of discipline in carrying out guard services on the bridge and to carry out guarding procedures in accordance with established procedures, especially when changing guard (handing over). This research was carried out on board the MV. HTC CHARLIE which is one of the ships owned by PT. INTERGIS. Implementation during the author's practice of the Sea (Prala), so that the source of the data obtained directly from the place of doing research in the form of information based on observations and interviews with the officer in charge. This study shows that there are still shortcomings in carrying out the duty of duty in accordance with the procedures and the lack of discipline of the missionary when on guard duty. By conducting this research, it is possible to make an overview of the watch service in accordance with the procedures for handing over the guard and the importance of discipline in carrying out the watch service on the bridge.
