Abstract

The Influence of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and Probing-Prompting (PP) Learning Models on Students' Critical Thinking Ability Judging from SelfConfidence. Mathematics Education Study Program, Postgraduate Program at Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University. 2019. The purpose of this study was to describe influence of Problem-Based Learning and Probing-Prompting Learning Models on Students' Mathematical Critical Thinking Ability in the light of SelfConfidence. The low ability of students to think critically mathematically so that it is necessary to apply a learning model that trains students' thinking skills while fostering student confidence. The method used in this study is a quasiexperimental method that uses a 2x2 treatment by level design. Consideration of the use of this design is to see the answers to the research questions from two different treatments, namely: treatment of the learning model (A), and treatment of self-confidence (B) in the four treatment groups. The results revealed that students' mathematical critical thinking skills taught by PBL learning models were better than students taught with PP learning models had significant differences; Mathematical critical thinking ability of students who have high self-confidence is higher than students who have low self-confidence. The results of the study revealed that (1) There were differences in critical thinking skills between students learning using the problem-based learning (PBL) model and students learning to use probing-prompting (PP); (2) There are differences in critical thinking skills between students who have high self-confidence and students who learn to use students who have low self-confidence; (3) There is an interaction effect between the application of learning models and self confidence in students' critical thinking abilities; (4) There are differences in critical thinking skills between students who learn using the problem-based learning (PBL) learning model and high self-confidence (self confidence); and students who learn using probing-prompting (PP) learning models and high self confidence; (5) There are differences in critical thinking skills between students who learn using the problem-based learning (PBL) learning model and low self confidence; and students who study using probing-prompting (PP) learning models and low self confidence. Keywords: Problem-Based Learning, Probing-Prompting, Self-Confidence,Critical Thinking

Abstract

From an early age, basic education plays a crucial role in shaping a child's character and personality. However, bullying is becoming increasingly common, including at the elementary school level. This study focused on fifth-grade students at Muruy 2 Elementary School in Menes District to identify the forms of bullying that occur, the contributing factors, and the school's role in addressing it. Initial observations and interviews indicated that bullying often takes the form of teasing, exclusion, and verbal abuse. This negatively impacts students' mental health and learning motivation. A less responsive school environment tends to exacerbate the situation. The study, conducted from April–July 2025, used a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and interviews with students in the 2025/2026 academic year. The primary objective was to determine teachers' strategies for dealing with bullying. The findings revealed that bullying most often occurs verbally and physically, such as teasing, pushing, hitting, or disturbing friends while studying. Victims are generally shy, quiet, or physically weak, while perpetrators tend to be low-achieving and have prominent physical characteristics. Bullying typically occurs in classrooms or other less-supervised school areas. Its impacts are widespread, ranging from declining academic performance to psychological distress for both victims and perpetrators, as well as the surrounding community. Driving factors include peer pressure and personal circumstances. Despite still facing obstacles such as limited supervision and a lack of parental involvement, the school strives to enforce rules and build cooperation among stakeholders. This study aims to provide a descriptive overview of bullying behavior at Muruy 2 Elementary School, Menes District, as well as the causes, characteristics, and role of schools in eradicating it.

This research is motivated by the low mathematical critical thinking skills of Indonesian students, especially in solving non-routine problems. This study aims to develop and test the effectiveness of the Problem Based Learning–Flipped Classroom (PBL-FC) model integrated with Baduy local wisdom in improving students' mathematical critical thinking skills. The research design uses a Research & Development (R&D) approach with the ASSURE framework for model development, as well as a quasi-experimental design with a pretest–posttest control group to test its effectiveness. The study involved 60 fifth-grade students of Alaswangi 1 Elementary School, Lebak-Banten, who were selected based on their readiness, motivation, and access to learning resources. The research instruments included a mathematical critical thinking test, observation sheets for learning implementation, and teacher and student response questionnaires. Data were analyzed using validity and reliability tests, ANOVA, post hoc tests, and N-Gain. The results showed expert validation of the model at 87.5% (very valid), learning implementation at 97.08% (very practical), and teacher and student responses at 91.67% and 86.16% (good to very good), respectively. The average increase in students' mathematical critical thinking skills was higher in the PBL-FC group (73.91%) compared to the conventional PBL group (56.83%). ANOVA results showed significant effects of academic ability (F=17.536; p<0.001), learning model (F=5.100; p<0.001), and the interaction between the two (F=2.100; p<0.001). Further tests confirmed significant differences between the high-medium ability groups (9.76), high-low (19.83), and medium-low (10.06) with p≤0.002. In conclusion, the PBL-FC model based on Baduy local wisdom is effective, valid, and practical to be implemented in the Independent Curriculum, especially in improving students' mathematical critical thinking skills.

Abstract

In the context of education, literacy is no longer understood merely as the ability to read and write. It also includes the capacity to understand texts, interpret meaning, evaluate information critically, communicate ideas effectively, and apply knowledge to solve real-life problems. Therefore, this study aims to develop an Augmented Reality (AR)-based E-Comic by integrating Baduy folklore, meeting the criteria of validity, practicality, and effectiveness in optimizing English literacy skills. This study employs Research and Development (R&D) approached to create and evaluate an educational product. It follows the ADDIE model, which consists of five systematic stages: Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The development of this E-Comic is designed to provide a contextual learning experience supported by dynamic and interactive 3D visualizations, thereby enhancing students’ literacy skills, particularly in English. The findings indicate that the developed AR-based e-comic was positively received by students and is suitable for use as teaching material in English language learning. This is consistent with other studies indicating that e-comics improve learning comprehension and are highly relevant as teaching media. This is also consistent with the results from utilizing digital teaching materials as an alternative for English classes. The average score from media experts reached 91.3%, while student responses averaged 84%, both categorized as highly feasible. Therefore, the product can be effectively implemented as a teaching material for English language learning.
