Abstract

Abstract. In Indonesia, we cannot escape from multiculturalism. The philosophy of multiculturalism encourages people to respect and interact with each other regardless of their status or origin. Multiculturalism is viewed by Islamic law as a natural and divine desire that must be upheld. Islamic values such as justice, brotherhood, and tolerance offer a standard basis for resolving differences peacefully. Qualitative is the method used and the technique of collecting library study data. It is done by looking at reading sources that have the same research topic. The data taken is through books, scientific journals and other digital sources. Multiculturalism is a useful tactic in education to create a generation that is accepting, tolerant, and aware of religious values. Islamic law states that the purpose of multicultural education is to instill the values of justice, equality, and tolerance. Islamic-based multiculturalism can build a learning environment that supports communication and collaboration between cultures while preserving Islamic principles. Therefore, multicultural education in accordance with Islamic law can be a way to create a just, civilized, and peaceful society despite differences. Abstract

This study analyses the development and transformation of Islamic education curricula from the classical era to the contemporary period, focusing on changes in systems, teaching methods, and the challenges encountered. Using a historical-comparative analytical approach, the research examines the evolution of Islamic education curricula, starting from mosque-based learning systems in the classical era, the development of madrasas in the mediaeval period, to the adoption of digital technology and modern teaching methods in the contemporary era. The findings reveal that the Islamic education curriculum has undergone significant transformations to respond to the needs of the times. It evolved from an initial focus on Quranic studies and religious sciences to a system integrating religious and general knowledge, and further to the adoption of technology and innovative teaching methods in the Society 5.0 era. Key challenges identified include balancing fundamental Islamic values with the demands of modernity, integrating technology into learning, and fostering 21st-century competencies. This study recommends developing a holistic curriculum that integrates Islamic values with technological innovations and global needs while emphasising character development and soft skills to prepare an excellent Muslim generation for the digital age.

Abstract

This research discusses the contextualization of Islamic law in the socio-cultural reality in Indonesia. In a diverse society, Islamic law cannot be understood textually alone, but needs to consider social and cultural dynamics. This study highlights five shades of Islam in Indonesia, namely cultural, pluralist, neo-modernist, normative, and nationalist, which shape the character of Islamic legal thought in Indonesia. The contextual approach in Islamic law allows flexibility in the face of changing times without leaving the basic principles of sharia. Based on the perspective of Wael B. Hallaq's perspective, Islamic law must be designed by considering social reality to achieve benefit. This study confirms that contextualization of Islamic law is a must in order to remain relevant and applicable in people's lives. By understanding history and social dynamics, Islamic law can continue to develop as a guideline that suits the needs of the times.

Abstract

This study discusses the position and role of Islamic law in Indonesia's national legal system, a pluralistic legal system. As a country with a majority Muslim population, Islamic law has played a significant role, especially in the fields of family law, sharia economics, and waqf. However, the application of Islamic law faces challenges such as legal pluralism, differences in interpretation, social modernization, and commitment to human rights standards. The main issues formulated in this study are how Islamic law is accommodated in the Indonesian legal system, what challenges it faces, and what opportunities can be utilized for its development. The research method used is qualitative descriptive with historical, normative, and sociological approaches. Data is collected through the analysis of documents, such as laws and regulations related to Islamic law, as well as literature studies involving books, journal articles, and policy reports. Data analysis was carried out qualitatively by identifying key themes related to the roles, challenges, and opportunities of Islamic law. The results of the study show that Islamic law has been accommodated in the national legal system through various regulations, such as the Marriage Law, the Sharia Banking Law, and the Zakat Law. The main challenges of its implementation include the gap between regulation and implementation, the pressure of modernization, and the plurality of Indonesian society. On the other hand, the opportunity for the development of Islamic law is quite large, supported by the growth of the sharia economy, technological innovation, and the support of the Muslim community. This study concludes that Islamic law has great potential to develop further as an integral part of Indonesia's legal system, as long as its application is carried out in an inclusive and adaptive manner to the needs of diverse societies.
