Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the used of the suggestopedia method in learning English and the effectiveness of the suggestopedia method in increasing understanding of English vocabulary at Stikes Buleleng Pharmacy Study Program. This type of research was descriptive quantitative and qualitative research with the type of classroom action research (CAR). The subjects and place of this research were 41 students in the first semester of the Pharmacy Study Program. In collecting data, researcher used observation techniques, documentation, and measurement of learning achievement tests. As for the analysis, researcher used descriptive qualitative analysis techniques. The results shows that (1) the suggestopedia method was well applied in learning English and this was shown by the results of student observations, that the enthusiasm and activeness of students were very high in participating in learning by using suggestopedia method. (2) Learning by using suggestopedia method in English subjects has been declared effective, this is indicated by the results of student observations and student learning outcomes that have reached the criteria determined in this study.

Abstract

Bekerja di bidang pariwisata khususnya menjadi Waiter/Waitress ataupun Chef membutuhkan profesionalitas kompetensi di bidang pariwisata. Salah satu solusi untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut adalah dengan mempelajari ESP (English for specific purposes) untuk layanan makanan dan minuman. Layanan Makanan dan Minuman mencakup pengetahuan dan keterampilan yang diperlukan bagi mereka yang belajar atau bekerja di berbagai tingkatan dalam pelayanan makanan dan minuman. Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk melakukan tri dharma perguruan tinggi dengan mengimplementasikan English Vocabulary untuk Mahasiswa Divisi Makanan dan Minuman Monarch Bali Singaraja, kegiatan pengabdian ini tidak hanya menggunakan lagu dan video berbahasa Inggris, namun juga menggunakan games dan online learning platform seperti quizziz. Hasil dari Pengabdian Masyarakat ini yaitu melalui media pembelajaran yang digunakan mahasiswa dengan mudah mengidentifikasi dan memahami vocabularies of food and beverage yang telah diberikan, serta mahasiswa dapat mengingat kosa kata tersebut dengan mudah. Jadi, kosa-kata demi kosa-kata yang semakin bertambah, akan bertambah pula ilmu dan kreatifitas mahasiswa sehingga nantinya akan dapat berkomunikasi dalam bahasa Inggris dengan lancar.

Abstract

Early childhood is also called the golden age because children's physical and motor skills develop and grow rapidly, both in terms of emotional, intellectual, and moral development. The development of cognitive abilities is the development of basic skills to improve children's abilities, one of which is the ability to speak, especially the ability to speak English which is a development to become a bilingual school. Snakes and ladders is a game that is used as a game medium to improve cognitive development (speaking) in children where this game contains pictures of snakes and ladders as well as instructions in English that must be done which are divided into small boxes to connect one box to another. This study aimed to analyze the effect of Snakes and Ladders Game on English Speaking Ability in Children 5-6 Years at TK Negeri Pembina, Banjar District. This study used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-post test design, the sample size in this study was 38 respondents who were taken by using purposive sampling technique. This study used the Paired-t-test, the p value (0.00) < (0.05), it means that H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. It concluded that there is an effect of Snakes and Ladders Game on English Speaking Ability in Children 5-6 Years at TK Negeri Pembina, Banjar District.

Abstract

Early childhood represents a critical period for language acquisition and motivational development, where family support plays a pivotal role. This study investigates the relationship between family support and English learning motivation among early childhood students in Group B of Triamerta Singaraja Kindergarten, Indonesia. Using a cross-sectional analytical survey method, data were collected from 69 respondents through validated questionnaires. The Spearman Rank correlation test revealed a significant positive relationship between family support and learning motivation (r = 0.623, p < 0.05). The findings indicate that children with more excellent family support exhibit higher motivation levels, underlining the importance of parental involvement in fostering effective bilingual education. This research contributes to the growing literature on early childhood education by providing actionable insights into how family engagement can enhance language acquisition and learning outcomes. Future studies should explore intervention strategies tailored to diverse socio-cultural contexts to optimize early learning experiences.

Abstract

Memperkenalkan kosakata bahasa Inggris adalah salah satu metode untuk mengenalkan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris kepada uswa di Taman Kanak-Kanak, sehingga mereka dapat mulai memahami bahasa Inggris sejak usia dini. Dalam mempelajari bahasa Inggris, penting untuk terlebih dahulu dilakukan yaitu memahami dan mengenal kosakata. Tujuan dari pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah untuk memperkenalkan kosakata Bahasa Inggris kepada siswa di tingkat Taman Kanak-Kanak dengan menggunakan media flashcard. Pengabdian masyarakat ini dilaksanakan di PAUD Sundaram dengan memilih siswa TK B yang berjumlah 15 orang dan dilaksanakan selama enam bulan. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah siswa mengalami peningkatan kemampuan dalam mengenal kosa kata Bahasa Inggris, pelafalan yang mulai membaik serta pemahaman yang bagus. Siswa mengikuti arahan Tim, berlomba-lomba mengangkat tangan untuk menjawab flashcard yang ditanyakan, mengulang kembali kosa kata yang mereka dengar, menjawab dengan semangat setiap kartu yang dikeluarkan oleh Tim. Siswa terlihat sangat senang sehingga suasana kelas menjadi sangat menyenangkan.

Abstract

Abstrak Kasus peningkatan COVID-19 merupakan suatu tantangan dan masalah secara global, hal tersebut menggambarkan sebagian masyarakat belum melakukan perilaku dan sadar akan pentingnya protokol kesehatan, sehingga diperlukan pendidikan kesehatan di masyarakat, Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk efektivitas media sosial: youtube dalam mengedukasi masyarakat dalam pencegahan COVID-19 terhadap perubahan perilaku di masyakat. Literature review ini dilakukan dengan penelusuran database elektronik yaitu Google Scholar, PubMed, dan ScientDirect. Publikasi artikel mulai dari tahun 2020-2021, dengan menggunakan kata kunci: youtube, health education, behaviour, Literature review ini menggunakan kreteria seleksi untuk melakukan data extraction yaitu artikel bahasa Inggris dan Indonesia, full text dan mencakup abstrak, metode penelitian kuantitatif dan kualitatif, subjek tenaga kesehatan. Artikel terakhir yang digunakan dalam literature review ini sebanyak 10 artikel yang memenuhi kreteria inklusi. Secara keseluruhan peneliti menemukan bahwa membahas tentang media sosial: youtube dan perilaku terkait pencegahan COVDI-19. Media sosial youtube efektif dalam mengedukasi masyarakat sehingga diharapkan dapat mengubah perilaku masyarakat

Abstract

In Indonesia, English is a foreign language that is taught from elementary school to college. In practice, both teachers and students still face many difficulties during the learning process. Various responses can be found in class related to these difficulties, especially in student attitudes during the learning process, student learning outcomes, and participation in carrying out group activities. This study aims to describe the difficulties faced by undergraduate students of Management at Satya Dharma College of Economics in understanding English learning and the factors that cause them. This study uses a qualitative approach with questionnaires, observation, and documentation instruments. Data analysis was carried out in three ways, namely data reduction, data presentation, drawing conclusions and verification. The results of the study showed that the research subjects experienced various difficulties in learning English. This happened due to different levels of English language proficiency.
