Abstract

Writing learning using P.O.W.E.R. strategy that occurs in the eight class of MTs Mahwil Ummiyah make innovative and inspiring learning, the students innovatively to creative study and independent, the strategy is involving students to evaluate and revise independently who crated students in writing. The goal is the POWER method to be achieved in the writing learning effectively, to descript the students of result in the writing learning using the POWER method. The technique data analysis data reduction the researcher observe in the field, data display to descript the result, conclusion is the verification. The result of this research can be seen in the 4 cycles of learning process. 20,5% is the students learning result from first cycle in the second cycles out 72% in the third cycles 85% in the fourth 91%. Can conclude that students writing learning was drastic increase. this shows that the learning process using the POWER method of students in MTs Mahwil Ummiyah successfully. Abstract

The objective of this community service activity / PKM (Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat) is to provide knowledge to participants (parents and children) about the importance of character education from early age through the family. This program was motivated by problems that happens in society in Ngusikan, Jombang, East Java, children in that area addicted to play gadgets and have a tendency to anti-social behavior and lack of social courtesy. The method in this program used a dialogical collaborative-participatory approach includes in-house training (lectures, questions and answers, discussions) for the delivery of material, direct practice to make storytelling media, testing, practice of using fairy tale media and mentoring assisted by KKNT students. The number of participants in this program is approximately 40 participants, including students. This community service activity (PKM) was followed by women who have job as a housewife. The participants stated that this activity was very useful and was a new experience. This community service activity went well and was greeted with enthusiasm from the participants..

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effectiveness of Hangman game in the mastery of students’ vocabulary in class VII-F of MTsN 9 Jombang. This research used a quantitative method and the research design used is a pre-experimental design. The method used by the researcher was Hangman game. The population of this research is class VII-F of MTsN 9 Jombang consisting of seven classes and the sample taken for this study is class VII-F consisting of 30 students. The researcher conducted the pretest and posttest to find out students’ vocabulary before and after using Hangman game. The result showed that the mean score of the post-test was 79,83 higher than the mean score of the pretest was 51,33. It means that there was an increase in students’ post-test scores. Therefore, the use of Hangman game in the mastery of students’ vocabulary has significant differences in class VII-F of MTsN 9 Jombang.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the fundamental components of the Twilight film. The intrinsic technique was employed in this study to identify the fundamental components of the Twilight movie. This research is types of qualitative research, according to Leavy in (Umboro, 2021) design this study used a qualitative research approach to obtain the data needed that is in line with the objectives. This study explain the intrinsic elements by used Intrinsic Elements, Plot, Character, Setting, Theme Literature, language and mandate in the movie twilight. This research to find the characteristics Edward Cullen as one of main character of twilight movie. The data of this research were taken from dialogues and narrations of Twilight (2008) film script written by Melissa Rosenberg. As a result, this research showed the intrinsic elements of Twilight film consisting of theme, characters (Bella, Edward, Jacob), setting (place: Bella’s House, Forest, Edward’s House, School, Hospital) (Time: Summer, Rainy, Day Night), Plot (Exposition, Inciting, Moment Complication Stage, Climax, Falling Action), language, moral value.

Abstract

This research is qualitative, especially content analysis. The data collection technique used in this research is document analysis. The document used in this study is an English textbook entitled “Bahasa Inggris SMA/MA/SMK/MAK” for Class XII, published by the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture 2018. This research aimed to get empirical evidence of the distribution of higher-order thinking skills based on the revised edition of Bloom’s Taxonomy. The data analysis technique proposed by Miles and Huberman involves data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results show that the higher-order thinking skills in writing exercises in this textbook only obtained 9 out of 21 questions (42.8%), while the lower-order thinking skills obtained 12 out of 21 questions (57.1%). It can be concluded that the distribution of the higher-order thinking skill is lower than the lower-order thinking skill. The distribution of the higher-order thinking skill looks like this: the analyze skill (C4) obtains two questions (9.5%). The evaluate skill (C5) receives two questions (9.5%), and the Create skill (C6) gets the highest distribution by obtaining 5 out of 9 questions (23.8%). It shows that the distribution of the higher-order thinking skill of writing exercises in the English textbook “Bahasa Inggris SMA/MA/SMK/MAK” is unequal. It does not show the higher-order thinking skills properly. Furthermore, this statement is supported by the unequal distribution of writing exercises in each textbook chapter.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the Effectiveness of story-mapping techniques in teaching narrative text reading. The method used in this study is the method experiment; the researcher chose the group pre-test and post-test design. The population of this research was all the students in the eighth grade at SMPN 5 Jombang, consisting of nine classes and a total of 279 students. The researchers examine the data after gathering it. The story mapping method is an effective approach for improving students' reading skills. This Effectiveness is achieved when the score is statistically significant, with a p-value lower than 0.05 in a two-tailed test. The result is known that student learning achievement in learning narrative texts in classes using story mapping techniques has increased significantly compared to classes without story map techniques. This statement is in accordance with data collection calculations by comparing the observation t value (to = 2.35) with the t table (tt = 2.00). It can be seen that to is higher than tt (to >tt). In conclusion, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. Therefore, teaching reading narrative texts using story mapping techniques is effective at SMPN 5 JOMBANG.

Abstract

This research aimed to find out the effectiveness of using Team Games Tournament to Teach Vocabulary Mastery. It used Pre-Experimental Design with one group pre-test and post-test design at Class VIII B of SMPN 1 Diwek academic year 2023- 2024 with a total of 31 students. The result showed that vocabulary of SMPN 1. Diwek was still considered lacking with mean score of the pre-test is 50,00. After being treatment, the students’ vocabulary is increased after using Team Games Tournament Method with the mean score of the post-test 80,48. There is significant difference between Students’ vocabulary mastery before and after being taught by using Team Games Tournament Method. By using descriptive analysis test, the normality test, and the Paired Samples Test showed that a significant value (2- tailed) of 0.000 the data are less than (<0.05) so it can be said that the meaning that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. In short, this means that team games tournament as the method is effectively applied in improving students' vocabulary mastery at SMPN 1 Diwek. These results prove that the Team Games Tournament is an effective method for improving students' vocabulary mastery. By combining healthy competition and a fun learning atmosphere, this method not only helps students improve their vocabulary skills but also builds their confidence in using the English language. This research provides strong evidence that innovative methods such as team game tournaments can be a concrete solution to the challenges of vocabulary learning in schools.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to find out whether or not the implementation of short movies media effective to improve the students’ vocabulary mastery. The researcher conducted a pre-experimental group design. The population of this research is the seveth-grade students of SMP A. Wahid Hasyim Tebuireng Jombang in the academic year 2023/2024. Total of the population was 9 classes. The sample in this study was class VII H SMP A. Wahid Hasyim Tebuireng Jombang, totaling 32 students. Based on the data normality test that has been carried out by the researcher, it shows that sig. 2-tailed is 0.200 meaning that the data is normally distributed, then it will be continued with a simple paired t-test. based on the Testing of Hypothesis Terms, If the score of t is sig. <0.05, Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. on the simple paired t-test calculation, the data shows sig. (2-tail) 0.000. The data is smaller than 0.05, meaning that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. the students' scores of pre-test was in medium level, while in post-test, the students' score was high. it could be concluded that the short movies was effective to improve students' vocabulary mastery in SMP A. Wahid Hasyim Tebuireng Jombang.
