Abstract

The elderly and their caregivers are at higher risk from Coronavirus Disease-2019, particularly for elderly with chronic health conditions. To prevent the transmission of the virus, those elderly issued strict physical distance, restricting most interactions between the elderly and their caregivers. On the other side, caregivers can serve as crucial and trusted partners in the elderly’s care to curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Hence, this study aims to analyze the knowledge, attitudes, practices (KAP), and the role of caregivers in providing services to the elderly during the outbreaks. A descriptive quantitative study was conducted from May to June 2020. The survey was utilizing Google Forms in four cities in Indonesia. A total of 317 out of 400 participants had completed the survey. The knowledge of the COVID-19 score was 79.50%, attitude 92.11%, and practice 90.54%. The caregivers’ role in protecting the elderly from COVID’s infection was about 98.42%. They could continue their routine activities during physical distancing 84.54%, treated elderly by not going to the hospital (60.04%), not visited any crowded place, wore masks and washed their hand after activity (87.38%). They agreed that government would finally successfully control COVID-19 (90.22%). This study concluded that the knowledge, attitude, practice and role of caregivers on COVID-19 effectively prevents the caregivers neglecting the elderly during the COVID-19 outbreak. Future information on elderly care need to consider not just the risks of the virus, but also the healthy lifestyle.

Abstract

Background: The development of information technology in the health sector encourages the implementation of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) to improve the efficiency and quality of hospital services. UKI General Hospital has implemented EMR, but still faces technical and operational challenges that hinder system optimization. Objective: This study aims to analyze the implementation of EMR at UKI General Hospital and evaluate its impact on the quality of hospital services. Method: The study used a mixed-method approach with data collection techniques through questionnaires, interviews, and quantitative and qualitative data analysis. The sample consisted of health workers and administrative staff involved in the use of EMR. Results: The results of the study indicate that the implementation of EMR has increased efficiency in patient data management, but there are still obstacles such as limited infrastructure, lack of HR training, and difficulties in adapting to technology. Conclusion: The implementation of EMR contributes to improving the quality of hospital services, but improvements are still needed in technical aspects and HR readiness. Suggestion: Improvements in infrastructure, medical personnel training, and strategic policies are needed to support more effective implementation of EMR.

Abstract

Background : Sawahlunto Regional General Hospital (RSUD Sawahlunto) faces challenges in increasing the number of Medical Check-Up (MCU) patients. The number of MCU patients decreased from 416 in 2023 to 160 in 2024. In order to compete with other hospitals, an appropriate marketing strategy is needed to boost patient visits for MCU services and to strengthen RSUD Sawahlunto’s position as a trusted healthcare provider. This study aims to analyze marketing strategies that can be implemented to increase the number of MCU patients at RSUD Sawahlunto. The study identifies strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) and evaluates the most effective segmentation, targeting, positioning (STP), and marketing mix strategies. This research uses a qualitative and quantitative approach with data collection techniques including in-depth interviews, observations, and document studies. The analysis is conducted using the SWOT method, Internal-External (IE) matrix, and Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix (QSPM) to determine optimal marketing strategy alternatives. The results of the study show that several factors contribute to the low number of MCU patients at RSUD Sawahlunto, including a lack of effective promotion, limited additional services, and competition with other hospitals. Through SWOT analysis, key strategies were identified, such as strengthening digital marketing, establishing partnerships with companies for employee MCU services, and improving the quality of MCU services and facilities. The study concludes that an appropriate marketing strategy is essential to increase the number of MCU patients at RSUD Sawahlunto. By implementing an effective marketing mix—such as more aggressive promotions, improved customer service, and optimized pricing and distribution strategies—RSUD Sawahlunto can enhance its competitiveness in providing MCU services.
