Abstract

Analisis data yang digunakan adalah two ways analysis of variance (ANOVA).

Abstract

This study aims to understand the role of Facebook access and partisan bias on the belief in misinformation in the political context of the 2019 Presidential Election. Frequent use of Facebook and partisan bias for presidential candidates were predicted to influence belief in misinformation about illegal migrant workers from China in Indonesia. Using a structured questionnaire, a total of 1,818 participants who were representative of the Indonesian voter population were interviewed using a structured questionnaire asking about their frequency of Facebook use, political support, awareness, and belief in misinformation about thousands of illegal migrant workers from China, as well as other demographic variables as part of national survey questions. Of these, there were 804 participants who were aware of misinformation about illegal migrant workers from China to be analyzed. The results of binomial logistic regression analysis showed that partisan bias significantly affected belief in misinformation —Subianto's (vs Widodo's) supporters significantly have (vs. have not) a belief in the misinformation, whereas the frequency of Facebook usage and the effect of their interactions were not significant. This finding shows the strength of the influence of political support on belief in misinformation and the need to further study the influence of social media in Indonesia's political context.

Abstract

Social Representation Theory (SRT) is a successful framework that has been used for many years to understand how individuals and groups construct, communicate, and navigate their social reality. Using a narrative method of literature review, this study, with synthesis of findings from previous research, examines how social representations influences attitudes, behaviours, and adaptation strategies related to perceptions about climate change in the Fiji Islands and the Pacific. Findings from the synthesis of results highlights the importance of considering local beliefs and cultural contexts in shaping responses to climate change. The discoveries also place emphasis on the critical role of beliefs and perceptions in driving adaptation efforts and community resilience. For future research, there is a need for inclusive approaches that put together local knowledge and perspectives into climate change policies and strategies that encourages sustainable solutions in Fiji, the Pacific Islands and beyond. Keywords: social representation, climate change, fiji islands, adaptation strategies, community perceptions

Abstract

Abstract

Recycling is a potential solution to address the issue of fabric waste driven by fast fashion. This study aims to examine the influence of behavioral, normative, and control beliefs on attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control to predict fashion recycling intention based on Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). Data were collected from 316 Generation Y and Z participants using a convenience sampling approach. The questionnaire was developed through an elicitation study based on TPB constructs. Structural Equation Modeling was conducted and produced an acceptable model fit: χ² (369) = 693.28, p < .001; RMSEA = .060. This study found that behavioral, normative, and control beliefs significantly predicted their respective TPB variables. Crucially, subjective norm and perceived behavioral control directly predicted intention, with notable indirect effects from normative and control beliefs. This showed that interventions should focus on strengthening social influence and facilitating recycling behavior through increased perceived control.

Abstract

Commuting is a daily reality for many workers in the Jakarta area and its surroundings. Previous studies have established that commuting exerts a significant influence on individual subjective well-being (SWB). This research aims to investigate the various factors that shape the relationship between commuting experiences and the subjective well-being of workers in Jakarta and neighboring regions.  Employing a qualitative phenomenological approach, the study utilizes thematic analysis to uncover pivotal themes affecting the SWB of commuter workers. Data was gathered through in-depth interviews with six participants, aged 23 to 51, residing in the Jakarta vicinity. The findings indicate that commuting experiences have a notable impact on the SWB of these workers, with negative emotions often predominating, despite some positive sentiments reported. Job satisfaction emerges as a crucial factor in understanding commuting dynamics; however, this satisfaction can sometimes come at the expense of well-being in other aspects of life. Workers with families encounter heightened challenges in achieving a balance between subjective well-being and the competing demands of work and family responsibilities. Coping strategies adopted by individuals are vital for enhancing subjective well-being, particularly in light of technological advancements. Furthermore, finding ways to engage in meaningful leisure activities plays an essential role in boosting SWB. External factors, including transportation policies and work arrangements, are also recognized as influential in improving individual subjective well-being
