Abstract

Head injury is a crucial public health problem and causes social and economic problems throughout the world. Increased brain blood volume associated with increased body temperature will increase intracranial pressure (ICP) and cause the brain at risk of other injuries. This paper aims to identify the effect of hypothermia management on head injury patients. This article was a review of literature from several data bases, Pubmed, EBSCO Host, Google scholar, and Web of Science. Article search was restricted from 2007 to 2018 using the keyword "head injury", "hypothermia management", "hypothermia in head injury". The search results of the article were that management of hypothermia in head injury patients can reduce metabolic requirements, cerebral metabolic rate for oxygen (CMRO2), excitotoxicity, reduce glutamate release, reduce free radical formation, reduce edema formation, stabilize membranes, maintain adenosine triphosphate (ATP), reduce influx Ca, and intracranial pressure so that it can reduce brain damage and risk of death. Keywords: head injury; hypothermia in head injury; hypothermia management ABSTRAK Cedera kepala merupakan masalah kesehatan masyarakat yang krusial dan menyebabkan permasalahan sosial serta ekonomi di seluruh dunia. Abstract

Lecturers in Indonesia only focus on original research in implementing Tri Dharma of Higher Education. A literature review has not been optimally used because of the lack of guidance. This article aimed to describe what a literature review is and how to compile good literature. This article is a simple literature review. The keywords used were "literature review", "literature review", "scoping review", and "systematic review" from the databases of Google Scholar, ResearchGate, SpringerLink, and EBSCO. The search resulted in 10 selected articles that discussed the review literature from the definition, type, stages of making a literature review. Writing a good literature review must be done starting from determining the source of the article to the understandable conclusions. To reduce the risk of errors in making a literature review, we must pay attention to the guidelines to obtain a literature review with high quality of evidence and low bias.

Abstract

Health myths are one of the factors that can hinder the achievement of government programs in the health sector. The resistance that arises from the community can be even greater if the believed myths have taken root in social life and are  considered to have magical elements in their implementation. To change the errors in people’s health beliefs in society,  health workers are important in providing proper health education and health literacy to all levels of society. Based on the  problems found, the team’s goal was to improve nursing students’ knowledge about health myths in Indonesia. This activity was implemented for 199 nursing students from 7 provinces (DKI Jakarta, West Java, Banten, Jambi, East Java, Central Java, and Southeast Sulawesi) online through Zoom meetings. This activity was the final series of activities conducted by the Institute of Training, Education and Research, Nurse Share Idea (NSID) about health myths that exist in Indonesia, while the implementation of this series of activities was done from November 2020 to August 2021. The results of the Wilcoxon testing of the activities had the value of sig = 0.002 (<0.005), which means that the activities have had a significant and positive impact on improving nursing students’ knowledge about health myths in Indonesia. Four of the 14 topics of understanding  health myths were decreased. These four topics are related to myths in nursing care. The results indicated that activities could increase participants’ knowledge of health myths. However, nurses still experience confusion preventing myths in implementing nursing care for patients. Other activities can focus on increasing efforts to counteract myths in implementing nursing care.

Abstract

Malaria is a life-threatening parasitic disease. Although the annual incidence of the parasite has decreased, malaria continues to be a health concern. The incidence of malaria remains high in tropical regions. The Suku Anak Dalam is the indigenous population of Jambi who live in the tropical forest. With limited access to healthcare, low levels of education, poor socio-economic status, and a nomadic lifestyle, the Suku Anak Dalam are vulnerable to malaria infections. Malaria infections trigger immune responses that cause issues with capillary blood vessels and the heart. Changes in the electrocardiogram are considered indicative of cardiac problems. This study aims to understand the electrocardiogram patterns of the Suku Anak Dalam community living in malaria-endemic areas, in order to support preventive measures regarding cardiac issues in populations residing in such regions. This research employed a descriptive cross-sectional design, utilising accidental sampling of nine adult members of the Suku Anak Dalam community who reside in the forest area of Sungai Terap Jelutih village, Batin XXIV Sub-district, Batanghari Regency, Jambi Province, and who consented to undergo electrocardiogram (ECG) recording. The ECG results were subsequently analysed descriptively by a ECG specialist, and the findings were then summarised. The results of electrocardiogram recordings from nine respondents showed Left Bundle Branch Block, along with signs of anaemia and hypertension. The conclusion is that the presence of Left Bundle Branch Block may be due to malaria infection, which triggers immune disturbances resulting in capillary and cardiac complications. Continuous cardiac examinations are necessary in endemic areas as a preventive measure.
