Abstract

Introduction: Health issues resulting from unhealthy snacks remain common among elementary school children in Indonesia. In 2023, the National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BPOM) recorded 1,110 cases of food poisoning, with East Java ranked second. Screening conducted in 2024 at elementary schools under the Dinoyo Community Health Center revealed 66 cases of diarrhea in Lowokwaru District. Research Purposes: This study aimed to determine the effect of educational intervention on the knowledge and attitudes toward healthy snack consumption among 4th-grade students at SDN Merjosari 2, Malang City. Method: This research employed a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. The population and sample included all 29 fourth-grade students, selected through total sampling. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Results: Findings indicated an improvement in knowledge and attitudes after the intervention. Students with good knowledge increased from 7% to 41%, while those with poor knowledge decreased from 55% to 14%. Positive attitudes rose from 55% to 69%. Wilcoxon test results showed p-values of 0.01 for knowledge and 0.00 for attitude, both below the significance level of 0.05, indicating a statistically significant effect. Conclusion: Educational intervention had a significant influence on the knowledge and attitudes of fourth-grade students at SDN Merjosari 2 regarding healthy snack consumption.

Abstract

The highest prevalence of diabetes mellitus (DM) based on diagnosis and symptoms is observed in the 55-64 year age group, at 5.5%. Knowledge about DM is crucial for sufferers to minimize the risk of complications. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of DM management training in preventing DM complications in Kalipare Village, Malang Regency. A Quasi-Experimental design was employed in this research conducted in Kalipare Village, Malang Regency. The study population consisted of all Health Cadres in Kalipare Village, totaling 30 individuals. The research sample comprised 30 Health Cadres, selected using Total Sampling technique. The independent variable was DM management training, while the dependent variable was the prevention of DM complications. Data were collected using questionnaires and skills observation, and analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test. The results indicated a significant difference with a p-value of 0.000 (< 0.05) between the treatment group and the control group in terms of knowledge and observation of DM management skills post-treatment. This signifies the effectiveness of DM management training in preventing DM complications. The more effective the DM management training provided to health cadre participants, the better the prevention of DM complications.

Abstract

Hypothermia is a serious general complication of surgery and anesthesia which can carry out various complications. The action to overcome this problem is the administration of heating measures, one of which is by warm infusion. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of warm infusion on body temperature stability in postoperative general anesthesia patients. The research method used was a pre experimental one group without control with a pretest posttest study. Respondents of this study were postoperative patients with general anesthesia. The population of this study was post operative patients under general anesthesia. The sampling in this study was purposive sampling. The number of samples in this study was 17. Respondents received 30 degrees Celsius warming fluid infusion. The analysis in this study used a comparative test paired t test with the result of P value 0,000. The P value shows a significant effect between giving warm infusions and body temperature stability. Based on descriptive statistical analysis, 76,4 percent of respondents achieved normothermia in the 35th minute. In the 60th minute, all respondents were in a normothermic state. Suggestions for further research to conduct research with more sample sizes. Keywords: Warm Infusion, General Anesthesia, Body Temperature
