Abstract

Knowledge of disaster mitigation is the most essential component and a key factor for preparedness. The possessed knowledge typically influences attitudes and concerns, fostering readiness to anticipate disasters. Vocational High School students should be informed about the various disasters that frequently occur in their areas, as well as the procedures to face sudden disasters. The significant loss of lives and various damages to buildings and facilities in the vicinity underscore the need for a deeper examination of mitigation efforts. The objective of this study is to assess the level of understanding and preparedness of Vocational High School students regarding earthquake natural disasters. The research method employed is quantitative, with descriptive statistics as the analytical technique. The instruments used include test instruments and non-test instruments utilizing Google Forms to collect data from several Vocational High Schools in various cities in DKI Jakarta, Sukabumi, and Tangerang. The research findings reveal that 42% of students are unaware of earthquake disaster mitigation measures. Additionally, 69% of students lack knowledge about minimizing damage from earthquakes in terms of building construction. Furthermore, 65% of students are unfamiliar with images related to earthquake-resistant construction. Moreover, 52% of students still do not know the local earthquake resilience features of earthquake-resistant houses. Lastly, 52% exhibit a panicky attitude, hastily evacuating buildings during an earthquake. The conclusion drawn from this research is that the knowledge of Vocational High School students regarding earthquake disasters and their mitigation measures is still low.

Abstract

Flooding that occurred recently has become a very detrimental disaster for the victims. This flood disaster is still a concern for people in Indonesia. Flood mitigation needs to be done to all levels of society, especially vocational school students. Vocational school students must be responsive in any situation because, after graduation, they are ready to work. Disaster mitigation is essential to be included in learning at school. Disaster mitigation is also related to the Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) to always be ready and alert. In measuring vocational school students' understanding of disaster mitigation, initial research was carried out related to disaster mitigation and HOTS. The research subjects were 100 students of Vocational School in Jakarta who were randomly selected. This study used Google Forms as a data collection technique. The results showed that the students’ HOTS score was still low. The results showed that the Students’ HOTS scores on flooding were still low. The average score obtained by the whole students was 43.34. The male students obtained 30.27, and the female students obtained 45.97. All schools in Indonesia should implement early mitigation education that is integrated with HOTS learning.

Abstract

Siswa Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK) umum serta Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan Islam (SMKI) merupakan siswa yang harus sigap dalam situasi apapun termasuk ketika bencana terjadi. Salah satu bencana yang sering terjadi adalah gempa bumi. Siswa SMK/SMKI dengan program keahlian Desain Pemodelan dan Informasi Bangunan merupakan program keahlian yang lulusannya dapat melakukan pekerjaan sebagai juru gambar dalam pekerjaan perencanaan dan pelaksanaan bangunan. Hal ini ditunjang dengan pengetahuan yang harus dimiliki siswa SMK/SMKI tersebut terkait meminimalisir efek yang ditimbulkan bencana gempa bumi terhadap rumah tinggal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan buku suplemen struktur bangunan tahan gempa yang bisa diterapkan pada mata pelajaran Dasar-dasar Desain Pemodelan dan Informasi Bangunan. Metode Penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode Penelitian dan Pengembangan atau Research and Development (R & D) dengan model ADDIE yang dibatasi sampai tahap development yang berisi validasi produk oleh para ahli. Validasi yang dilakukan meliputi validasi Media, Materi dan Bahasa yang keseluruhannya dihitung menggunakan formula Aiken’s V. Hasil validasi ahli media diperoleh 0.87 yang berarti validitas sangat tinggi, ahli materi sejumlah 0.83 termasuk dalam kategori sangat tinggi dan ahli bahasa diperoleh 0.83 yang termasuk dalam kategori validitas sangat tinggi. Berdasarkan uraian hasil analisis tersebut, diperoleh nilai rata-rata total 0.84. Nilai termasuk termasuk kedalam kategori ‘’valid’’ (0.67 ≤ V ≤ 1). Artinya, ketiga ahli memberikan penilaian yang cenderung konsisten dan sesuai dengan indikator penilaian.
