Abstract

The teaching Internship Program is the culmination of all the theoretical knowledge gained from the academe and its application to natural settings of education. Its success accurately measures pre-service teachers' competencies and the relevance and effectiveness of teacher education curricula. However, there is a difference between the learning experiences in the academe and those in the actual classroom environment. This study explored the meaningful learning experiences of the pre-service teachers through their narrative reflections. This study used a qualitative research design to investigate the emphasis in the teaching internship experiences on learning ownership and learning trajectory of the forty-four (44) Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED) pre-service teachers during the teaching internship program. The participants' narrative reflections are the data for the study. Thematic analysis was used to analyze the data. The results revealed solid evidence of the participants' ownership of learning: understanding learners, teachers' professional identities, and self-proclaimed perspectives in teaching. There is also a trend in the learning trajectory characterized by different phases of learning demonstrated among the participants as time progressed during the internship.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of classroom management, learning environment, and academic stress on the psychology of students of the Elementary Education Study Program (PGSD) at Jambi University within the framework of technology-based education. Quantitative methodology was used to collect data from 230 active PGSD students using a courage questionnaire. Data analysis used Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). This study tested six hypotheses: Learning environment (X1) has a positive effect on student psychology (Y1). P-value: 0.018 (Supported); Hypothesis 2: Classroom management (X2) has a positive effect on the learning environment (X1). P-value: 0.045 (Supported); Hypothesis 3: Classroom management (X2) has a negative effect on academic stress (X3). P-value: 0.000 (Supported); H4: Academic stress (X3) has a positive effect on student psychology (Y1). P-value: 0.034 (Supported); H5: Classroom management (X2) has a positive effect on students’ psychology (Y1). P-value: 0.021 (Supported); Hypothesis 6: Learning environment (X1) has a positive effect on academic stress (X3). P-value: 0.000 (Confirmed). The results of the study indicate that the sixth hypothesis is supported by significant findings. A conducive learning environment and competent classroom management reduce academic stress and improve students’ psychological well-being. Academic stress significantly affects students’ psychology, depending on its intensity. These findings highlight the importance of an effectively managed learning environment and classroom in improving students’ mental health. This study is limited to one university and relies on self-reported data. Future studies should investigate a more heterogeneous population and integrate qualitative methodologies to encompass a broader range of students’ perspectives. This study offers important insights for educators and policymakers to improve teaching practices and promote children’s psychological well-being in PGSD programs.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the implications of empiricism theory in the development of professionalism among elementary school teachers. This study is qualitative and employs a literature review method. The research seeks sources related to the empiricism movement concerning the development of professionalism among elementary school teachers. The sources for this research include books, research articles, and other supporting documents. The results of this study indicate that the empiricism movement brings a different nuance to the world of education in developing the professionalism of teachers, especially in elementary schools. This movement provides a foundation of responsibility for teachers regarding the nature of every learning practice in elementary schools through their senses. Thus, it fosters a good and accurate understanding of the needs of students, and it is hoped that students will acquire knowledge based on their experiences. The perspective of empiricism in the development of teacher professionalism also provides direction and fundamental guidelines for efforts to improve, advance, and establish a solid foundation for maintaining education.

Abstract

Bullying in schools, especially at the junior high school (SMP) level, is a serious issue that can damage students' mental and social health, as well as create an unsafe learning environment. Therefore, it is important to develop effective strategies, such as educational Games, to educate students about the impact of bullying and create a safe learning environment. This study aims to describe the planning, design, development, and feasibility of an educational Game for SMP students. The method used is Research and Development, with subjects being grade IX students of SMP Negeri 7 Muaro Jambi. The Game development follows the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), with validation from content and media experts and field trials. The research results show that the educational Game has high feasibility: 98% content expert validation, 90% media expert validation, 99% teacher response, and 87% field trial results. The Game also received an 85% score for attractiveness, indicating that it is appealing to students. Based on these results, the educational Game is proven to be suitable as a solution to address bullying in SMP, while also serving as an effective and engaging media tool for students.

Abstract

Background - Mathematics learning at the elementary level, especially at Phase C, requires innovative teaching strategies to enhance students’ conceptual understanding and motivation. Purpose - This study aims to explore and describe the strategies used by elementary school teachers to improve conceptual understanding in Phase C mathematics learning, focusing on their experiences and perceptions in implementing adaptive and innovative instructional approaches. Method/approach - A qualitative phenomenological method was employed to capture teachers’ lived experiences at SD Negeri 001/IV Kota Jambi during the 2024/2025 academic year. Data were collected through interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis involving two teachers, six students, and the principal. Data triangulation and member checking ensured the validity and reliability of the findings. Findings - The results reveal that teachers employ interactive and dynamic teaching strategies, use diverse teaching aids, implement constructivist approaches, conduct continuous assessments with direct feedback, collaborate in professional learning communities, and engage in comprehensive lesson planning. These strategies collectively enhance students’ conceptual understanding, foster active participation, and accommodate individual learning differences. Conclusions - The study provides empirical insights into effective teaching strategies that support adaptive and responsive mathematics instruction at Phase C in elementary schools. The integrated model of teaching strategies identified can serve as a valuable reference for improving mathematics education quality and innovation. Novelty/Originality/Value - This study offers a detailed phenomenological perspective on how teachers practically implement and adapt innovative instructional strategies in a real classroom context, bridging the gap between theory and practice in elementary mathematics education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implications of positivism on the scientific method through a literature review. Positivism, a philosophical school developed in the 19th century by Auguste Comte, emphasizes the importance of empirical observation, verification, and objectivity in acquiring scientific knowledge. This study is important because it provides a better understanding of how positivism influenced the scientific method and how this method developed and is used in the contemporary academic world. Through this literature review, the research explores the history of positivism, its core principles, and its contributions to the scientific method in both natural and social sciences. Additionally, critiques of positivism by philosophers such as Karl Popper and Thomas Kuhn are analyzed, particularly in relation to its limitations in addressing complex and subjective phenomena. The findings indicate that while positivism has played a significant role in the development of science, the more flexible post-positivist approach is increasingly relevant in addressing contemporary scientific research challenges.
