Abstract

Small, local business establishments situated in Olongapo, Zambales, is just one of the many provinces in northern Luzon affected by the COVID-19 crisis. There are also provinces in Zambales that were immensely affected by the COVID-19, and these have an overwhelming impact on large businesses' revenue worldwide, more so in small locally owned business establishments. Business owners are being compelled to take extreme measures to pursue operations. Thus many are apprehensive about their futures. Unemployment has become widespread while the nation's smallest businesses are at risk of bankruptcy. During the nationwide Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) imposed by the Duterte administration, all establishments offering services were temporarily suspended, which led to its temporary rapid closure or, even worse, let go of their employees. For instance, establishments renting inside the Ayala Malls Harborpoint, Hotels in the Barrio Barretto, Olongapo City, and even schools in nearby Zambales were among those affected the smaller the business, the harder the blow. During the Gradual lifting of the quarantine protocols, the situation briefly changed due to the current pandemic. There is a need to rethink strategies on how to uplift the economy, particularly in the localities. An online strategy is one way to help our economy, and it must get the boost needed by implementing online businesses and selling and other online services. These would not just benefit. This will help ensure the blending of the technological platforms that may sustain our local economy. This research will present the dreary effects of COVID-19 in small businesses and study the findings in line with the survey to study and consider solutions to address them.

Abstract

The PISA ranking places Indonesia in 2019 at 74th, or the 6th bottom of the 79 countries surveyed. From this data alone, we can describe how low the cognitive abilities or intelligence of Indonesian students are. In the education curriculum, the government has designed special standards so that Indonesian students are increasingly trained in their cognitive abilities, and are increasingly able to solve problems well. Freedom to learn is an idea that gives freedom to educators and students in determining the learning system. The purpose of the declaration of independent learning is to create a meaningful education and emphasize aspects of skills and experiences in learning. The spirit brought by the concept of independent learning is the flexibility and freedom in designing and managing learning for educational actors, ranging from educational institutions, educators, to students. The main programs are: the ease of opening new study programs, changes to the accreditation system for higher lecturers, the convenience of state higher education institutions becoming state universities with legal entities, and the right to study for three semesters outside the study program. Students are given the freedom to take credits outside the study program, three semesters which are meant in the form of 1 semester of opportunity to take courses outside the study program and 2 semesters of participating in learning activities outside of higher education. Various forms of learning activities outside of tertiary institutions, including conducting internships/work practices in industry or other workplaces, implementing community service projects in villages, teaching in educational units, participating in student exchanges, conducting research, conducting entrepreneurial activities, conducting studies/ independent projects, and following humanitarian programs. All these activities must be carried out by students with guidance from the lecturer. The learning process at the Merdeka Campus is one of the most essential manifestations of student-centered learning. Learning in the Merdeka Campus provides challenges and opportunities for the development of innovation, creativity, capacity, personality, and student needs, as well as developing independence in seeking and finding knowledge through realities and field dynamics such as ability requirements, real problems, social interaction, collaboration, self-management, performance demands, targets and achievements. Through an independent learning program that is well designed and implemented, students' hard and soft skills will be formed strongly.

Abstract

Attention to migrant workers is a cross-sectoral joint work, such as the penta-helix approach, especially when they change status to former migrant workers. The community can empower former migrant workers by paying attention to their potential. The purpose of the research is to provide ideas for the design of learning community models for creative economy actors in the performing arts sub-sector for former migrant workers. The research methodology approaches quantitatively two creative economy communities. The research sample of former migrant workers who are members of the creative economy community engaged in the performing arts sub-sector was 65 people. Research findings that the empowerment of former Indonesian migrant workers can be done with a non-formal learning approach. Through an andragogy approach, learning organizations, adult habits, and non-formal learning components encourage the entrepreneurial independence of creative economy actors, thus providing a reference for a learning community model design with six stages (community negotiation, activity planning, Training on the job, strengthening social networks, performance actions, activity evaluation). The conclusion of the research results shows the impact of the development of former migrant workers, after participating in activities in the creative economy community can exploit themselves and stimulate the embryo of a business group that is integrated between non-formal learning and a facility for creative economy activities performing arts.

Abstract

Beground -  The equality education program in Banjarmasin has an important role in providing learning opportunities for people who cannot access formal education. However, challenges in terms of marketing this program are still an obstacle, such as the lack of public understanding of the benefits of equality education and limitations in reaching prospective students. Along with the development of information technology, the implementation of digital-based marketing strategies is a potential solution to increase the reach and effectiveness of the promotion of this program. Purpose - This study aims to explore the implications of the use of information technology in the marketing of equality education programs in Banjarmasin.               Method/approach - The research method used is a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis. The research informants consisted of the manager of the Center for Community Learning Activities (PKBM), educators, and students involved in the equality program. Findings - Research findings show that the use of information technology, such as social media, websites, and mobile-based applications, has had a positive impact on increasing the visibility of equality education programs. The use of digital platforms allows for a wider reach, increased interaction with prospective students, and more effective and efficient delivery of information. However, challenges such as limited internet access in some regions and the lack of digital literacy among the community are still obstacles that need to be overcome. Conclusions - The conclusion of this study confirms that the application of information technology in the marketing of equality education programs in Banjarmasin can increase community participation and the effectiveness of information delivery. A more targeted and sustainable digital marketing strategy is needed to overcome existing obstacles. Novelty/Originality/Value - The novelty of this study lies in the development of an information technology-based marketing model that is tailored to the demographic and social characteristics of the Banjarmasin community, so that it can be a reference for equality education program managers in increasing public participation and awareness of the importance of non-formal education.

Abstract

The academic world is full of scientific surprises because education is changing so rapidly because of its alignment with various sectoral fields. One of the requirements to be called a lecturer is to be involved in three fields: teaching, research, and involvement in community outreach; and has been published in peer-reviewed reputable journals indexed in Scopus, Web of Science, ISI, and other high-impact databases. The purpose of this research was to analyze Most of the universities experienced difficulties requiring their faculty to be actively involved in research and community outreach, and several factors influenced their willingness to pursue such initiatives. The type of research method used is a qualitative research method, which will identify how to motivate lecturer involvement in research and community service. The results showed that the majority of respondents or 85.7% preferred the reward system to encourage faculty involvement in research and community outreach, while the remaining 24 respondents preferred awards, which could range from other collaborations with research with other universities and colleges in the Philippines. Figure 2 shows that the majority of respondents prefer the formation of open research working groups with a total of 50 respondents, 100%, which means strengthening research collaboration will strengthen faculty motivation to engage in research, development, and counseling.
