Abstract

In the midst of a disaster such as an earthquake, one of the most important things is the dissemination of the right information. Searching for the right information can affect the safety of one's life. Therefore, studies related to information seeking behavior during disasters can illustrate how a person searches for information in response to circumstances during a disaster. This study aims to determine how much the level of conformity of information seeking behavior carried out by victims of the Cianjur earthquake disaster with the disaster information seeking behavior model. This research uses quantitative methods with a case study approach in the Cianjur area. The population in this study were earthquake victims in Cianjur with productive age (15-57 years). The sample used was 100 respondents using accidental sampling technique. The hypothesis in this study is the level of information seeking behavior of earthquake victims in Cianjur in accordance with the disaster information seeking behavior model. The results of the study obtained a score on the first warning dimension of 2.39. The dimension of recipient characteristics amounted to 2.83 and message characteristics amounted to 3.59. The information source horizon dimension was 3.03 and the feedback dimension was 3.36. Based on these results, an average score of 3.04 was obtained. The score is in the interval 2.51 - 3.25, which indicates that the information seeking behavior of earthquake victims in Cianjur is at the "appropriate" level with the disaster information seeking behavior model.

Abstract

Songs are the simplest things for each individual to like. With the development of information technology, songs have also changed from analog to digital. This causes a song that is a copyrighted work to be easily obtained. Therefore, in this study, we want to discuss the information-seeking behavior of the society to get the song. In this research, the theory of information-seeking behavior will be placed with the theory of actions or habits put forward by Bourdieu, namely capital, habitus, and "arena". This research aims to understand the action in obtaining the song from the perspective of information-seeking behavior theory and Bourdieu theory. Besides, it is hoped that this research can also make new contributions regarding the theory of information behavior which can be seen from a socio-cultural point of view. The method used in this research is grounded theory of systematic design types with a qualitative approach. The results of this study explain that the entire process of searching for information to get a song is an "arena", where there are battles that are formed through their habitus as an effort to balance capital between them. This study suggests clear law enforcement in Indonesia regarding copyright and the need to look at a scientific discipline.

Abstract

Background of the study: Understanding how differences in institutional background and information literacy influence students’ attitudes and practices toward religious moderation in media is essential. Purpose: To examine the comparison of religious moderation among Library Science students in Islamic religious universities (PTKI) and public universities (PTU) in Indonesia, focusing on the role of information literacy. Method: A quantitative approach was used, involving 94 students from four universities recruited through an online survey. The data collected were analyzed using Jamovi. Findings: There is a positive relationship between information literacy and religious moderation, with higher information literacy associated with greater religious moderation. The impact of Information Literacy is more significant in PTKI, as seen from the steeper slope of the regression line. This could indicate that, in PTKI, information literacy plays a significant role in shaping religious moderation. PTU students exhibit higher levels of religious moderation at lower levels of information literacy, which could be due to other factors, such as educational background or social environment. Conclusion: Different approaches may be needed for PTKI and PTU to improve religious moderation through information literacy. Further research is required to understand other factors that influence this relationship, such as curriculum, student mindset, or sources of information accessed.
