Abstract

This research aims to capture the efforts of the Madurese people in maintaining family resilience through a cultural approach, as well as to examine the harmony and alignment between the values of the séré pénang tradition as part of the cultural approach and the principles of Islamic law. The research employs a literature review approach, utilizing scholarly sources related to the overarching themes of tradition and Islamic law. The data analysis follows an interactive analysis model. The findings indicate that Madurese people, rich in cultural, traditional, and heritage values, have adopted a cultural approach as part of their efforts to strengthen family resilience. A concrete effort in this regard is the implementation of the séré pénang Tradition, regarded as a symbol of family commitment. This tradition has positive implications for enhancing the resilience of family components to both internal and external pressures. The evaluation of the séré pénang Tradition demonstrates its alignment with the principles of Islamic law, both directly and indirectly, without conflicting with the concepts and principles of Islamic law.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the integration of Islamic character education with Islamic legal values in holistic learning context as response to educational system fragmentation separating religious aspects from practical application. Moral degradation in globalization era demands character education revitalization integrating fundamental Islamic law values as foundation for noble morals formation. Research employs qualitative paradigm with library research approach, analyzing literature through thematic analysis to identify integration patterns and key concepts. Results indicate integration can be implemented through three models: integrative thematic approach, experiential learning, and collaborative learning emphasizing direct experience and contextual problem-solving. Theoretical framework integrates ontological, epistemological, and axiological components in four levels: philosophical, theoretical, methodological, and practical with maqashid al-syariah principles as evaluation foundation. Research contributes to developing Islamic education models responsive to contemporary challenges while maintaining authentic Islamic identity, producing graduates with excellent character and deep Islamic law understanding for civil society formation.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the direction of Islamic education policies in the 21st century, along with the challenges and opportunities ahead. The study employs a literature review approach, utilizing sources such as books, journals, articles, and relevant written reports. The findings indicate that Islamic education policy in Indonesia in the 21st century is focused on decentralization to grant more autonomy to educational institutions, enhancing curriculum relevance by integrating 21st-century skills like critical thinking and collaboration. The main challenge lies in the centralized system that limits innovation and the development of curricula that meet contemporary needs. However, opportunities lie in leveraging institutional autonomy, technology to enhance learning, and developing modern skills for students.

Abstract

This article aims to explore the adaptive patterns of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) for the children of migrant workers at Junior High School of SMP Pondok Pesantren Mambaul Ulum. Parental migration abroad evidently shapes the students’ social and psychological conditions, which subsequently influence their religious development as well as their learning motivation. This study employs a qualitative approach utilizing in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation techniques. The study involved a total of eight participants: three administrators, three students and two guardians. The data analysis process is inductive in nature, aiming to identify emerging patterns of instructional adaptation derived from empirical findings. Data validity is ensured through source and methodological triangulation, as well as member checking with informants to confirm the accuracy of the interpretations. This study analyzes PAI adaptation using Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Theory, highlighting integrative curriculum, emotional support and collaborative strategies to strengthen students’ religiosity and learning motivation. The findings of this study reveal three principal conclusions. First, the pesantren develops an integrative approach that harmonizes the formal curriculum with the boarding school culture in order to strengthen the spiritual dimension through the habituation of worship practices and the internalization of religious values in daily life. Second, the institution establishes emotional support systems grounded in both personal mentoring and peer-group assistance to reinforce students’ psychological resilience in maintaining stable learning motivation. Third, collaboration between the school and guardians, the utilization of digital communication, and the implementation of participatory learning methods collectively optimize students’ discipline and religiosity. These findings suggest that the role of PAI within pesantren cannot be confined to formal instruction alone, but must evolve into a relational and context-sensitive practice that meaningfully responds to the lived realities of children growing up in conditions of parental absence.
