Abstract

Islamic Higher Education (PTAI) is expected to be a research based university with international competitiveness without losing its characteristics. It is necessary to eliminate the scientific dichotomy by integrating science with Islamic religious studies. At IAIN Purwokerto, the concept of integration-interconnection is manifested in “Jabalul Hikmah”. The epistemological reintegration of the scientific foundations is expected to answer academic, religious, social, cultural, and technological problems in society. One of the subjects based on general science which needs to be integrated with Islamic studies is Anthropobiology. Hence, this study aims to examine how to present anthropobiology courses in an integrated interconnected with Islamic studies. This research is a library research conducted by collecting and analyzing data from books, journals, and articles related to scientific integration models and anthropobiological concepts in pure science and Islamic perspectives. In the Miles and Huberman model, the collected will be reduced to focus on the important things, then the data is presented, and finally verified. The results show that efforts to integrate Islamic science in Anthropobiology course material can be done by integrating anthropobiological concepts derived from universal truths with Islamic studies. Through the integration-interconnection of Islamic science, Anthropobiology courses can support Islamic Early Childhood Education Study Program students to have a comprehensive understanding of human characteristics to prepare early childhood education.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of STEM-based lectora inspire media to improve the student’s higher order thinking skills (HOTS). This research design was Research and Development (RnD). This research referred to the ADDIE model that included Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The data were gathered through questionnaires and tests. The questionnaire technique was used to test the feasibility of the material and media used. At the same time, the test instrument was used to determine the increase in students’ HOTS based on the final results after using the product. The results showed that the developed media was categorized as feasible to be used as a student learning media with an average score of 93.745% of material expert judgment and 87.485% of media expert judgment. The responses of science teachers and students as users were 91.66% and 87%. Both concluded that the learning media was efficient. Paired sample t-test resulted in a significance value of 0.000 < 0.005, and the N-Gains test yielded a value of 58%. Thus, it can be concluded that STEM-based Lectora Inspire Media can improve the student’s higher order thinking skills (HOTS).

Abstract

This article aims to uncover ‘eco-maqāṣid’, an Islamic legal philosophy related to environmental awareness. Using a multimodality approach, the study begins by understanding the textual and visual meaning of climate change campaigns with  Islamic themes on the @greenpeace.id Instagram account. The data were further explored through ecolinguistic studies to reveal The Stories We Live By, Ecological Philosophy (ecosophy), and Maqāṣid al-Sharī’ah. The findings show that the type of story constructed through the representation of the relationship between images and text is predominantly in the category of Salience, highlighting the importance of maqāṣid principles to environmental aspects. The principle of hifz al-nafs supports the promotion of environmental sustainability to protect Muslim health from the impacts of climate change. Hifz al-māl plays a role in the efforts of mitigation and adaptation to the threats of climate change to protect the assets and economic well-being of Muslim communities. Hifz al-nasl is related to the sustainable preservation of Islamic rituals, holidays, and cultural traditions. Meanwhile, hifz al-dīn is reflected in the endeavor to care for the environment as a religious duty manifested from Quranic verses and Hadith. Hifz al-‘aql resonates with strengthening environmental education through Ulama advice and Islamic ethics. Finally, all ḍarūriyyāt al-khams advocates for the protection of all elements in nature. This integration of maqāṣid into ecosophy illustrates how Islamic principles guide environmental management against climate change, creating a framework called ‘eco-maqāṣid’.
