Abstract

Reading and taking notes are thinking processes. By combining the activity of reading the text and continuing with making notes, the cognitive structure and existing knowledge will be modified to accommodate the new knowledge. This study applied the quasi-experimental method with one-group posttest only design.  The treatment of this study is implementation of workhop. Amount of 53 voluntary public primary school teachers atSambas regency-Westkalimantan-Indonesia in second semester of academic year 2021/2022 participated in this workshop. After the training, a six short-answers test,  a six performance test, and a questionnaire  were administered. The results revealed that all (100%) teachers have recognized the patterns of texts of squence, classification, and problem solution. However, amount of teachers (28.30%) did not recognize of the generalization pattern, 11.32% did not recognize the comparasion and contrast pattern, and some of them (20.75%) did not recognize of the enumeration pattern. Many teachers had succeed in making note of mnemonics. The participants argued that workshop aimed to improve quality of teaching-learning at school could be conducted in extensively at the future.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the increase in students science process skills after the STEAM approach is applied and to determine the effectiveness of the STEAM approach on students science process skills in the subject of temperature and expansion at SMP Negeri 21 Pontianak. The research design uses the One Group pretest-posttest design and the research instrument uses science process skills test questions. Data collection techniques using measurement techniques, observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was used to determine science process skills before and after being given treatment and to find out students science process skills based on their categories and indicators. Based on the data analysis carried out in this study, there was an increase in students science process skills in the subject of temperature and expansion which were taught using the STEAM approach. Judging from the results of the average score of science process skills before being applied at 31.80 and after being applied at 74.11. The increase in KPS can also be seen from the N-GAIN value of 0.617 so that it is in the medium category. Then for the effectiveness of the STEAM approach to improving science process skills using the Effect Size, a value of 3.89 is obtained so that it is included in the high category

Abstract

Education is an important element in life because education can strengthen one's self. Science learning is a learning that is a means of improving students' thinking skills. One of these abilities is the ability to be skilled in scientific processes. This study aims to determine the profile of students' science process skills at SMP Negeri 21 Pontianak on temperature and expansion. This form of research uses a quantitative descriptive method by providing test questions for students' science process skills. The sample of this research was class VII A, which consisted of 33 students. The results of this study were obtained from 33 students 30.30% were in the unskilled category, 60.60% were in the less skilled category, 9.09% were in the skilled category, and 0% were in the very skilled category and science process skills based on indicators is still low. So it is hoped that in the future it is hoped that students' science process skills can be improved through learning that is oriented to these science process skills.

Abstract

This study aims to identify profiles of students' problem-solving abilities and describe the difficulty of solving problems in straight motion material at SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Raya. This research uses a descriptive method. The subjects of this study were 35 students who had studied straight motion material. The data collection instrument used in this study was a solving ability test consisting of 4 essay questions. The results of the study concluded that the problem solving ability of students at SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Raya was still relatively low with a percentage of 38.6%. The results of data analysis are interpreted to mean that 67.2% are categorized as having difficulties. Based on the results of the interviews, students experienced difficulties at stage 1 because they were not used to describing situations in questions, usually directly writing down the quantities that were known and asked. At stage 2 students do not understand the problem so not all quantities are written down. In stage 3, students are confused about determining the formula. For stage 4, students are lacking in arithmetic operations. Then, at the 5th stage. students are not accustomed to making conclusions in working on problems.

Abstract

The implementation of STEAM-based student worksheets (LKPD) was triggered by seeing the conditions in the field, namely the low learning outcomes of class XI MIPA students at SMA Negeri 1 Teluk Keramat. Some of the factors that cause this problem to arise are that students are not directly involved in learning, the teacher's methods of learning are still teacher-centered, and the use of learning media is less varied. This study aims to determine student responses and the impact of using STEAM-based student worksheets (LKPD) on heat transfer material on improving student learning outcomes at SMA Negeri 1 Teluk Keramat. This research used a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample used was 29 students from class XI MIPA 2. The results showed that the students' response to the STEAM-based LKPD was very positive, reaching a percentage of 89.6%. In addition, there was an increase in the average score of students' learning outcomes from the pretest results, which was 57.93 to 82.76 during the posttest. The results of the N Gain test were also obtained, namely 0.54, which was included in the medium category. Based on the results of the analysis of the data obtained, it can be concluded that the application of STEAM-based worksheets on heat transfer material is effective in improving student learning outcomes.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to develop work and energy assessment with an Evidence-Centered Design (ECD) approach. ECD is a framework of thinking that focuses on evidence of learners' abilities. ECD has three main components which are claims, evidence, and questions. Competencies in the assessment using Scientific Practices consist of the ability to use and develop representations, analyze and interpret data, explain arguments accompanied by evidence, and evaluate information. The development model used is Research and Development (R&D) with stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. These assessments are validated by validators and analyzed using Aiken indexes. The validation results showed a very high validity value of 0.87. Then, this assessment is carried out in one-to-one tests and small-scale trials. Based on the results of validation and trial of this assessment, it is suitable to be used by teachers as a guideline in compiling assessments.

Abstract

Solving problems on Newton's law material is not enough just to memorize the formula, students must have the ability to use multiple representations because the concept of Newton's law is very complex, students must be able to analyze the forces acting on blocks according to the idea to make it easier to solve problems. This research aims to describe students' abilities and answer patterns in solving Newton's law of force on an inclined plane using multiple representations. This research used qualitative methods involving 34 students in class XI MIPA SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Raya for the 2023/2024 academic year. Data collection was carried out by giving multi-representation tests in the form of description tests and interviews. From the results of multi-representation tests and interviews, it was found that almost all students were able to write style names completely, and a few errors were found in writing style names. In describing force diagrams, it was found that all students could describe normal force and gravity force, but it was found that some students could not describe pushing force, friction force, and rope tension force.  Then, the ability of students to solve mathematical equations, overall very few students can solve mathematical equations completely and precisely.
