Abstract

This study aims to analyze the dilemma in the bureaucratic press Tabloid Komunika (TK) of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology of the Republic of Indonesia. TK chosen as the study site because it was published by government institution formerly known as Ministry of Information, which very repressive to the press in New Order era. The study uses case study approach reinforced by survey and content analysis methods. From the results of the study found, most graphic indicator of the freedom of journalists, public sphere openess, and the determination of the content, showed a random trend, while the freedom of access and opportunity of expression showed a rising trend. Inconsistencies in the implementation of elements of press democracy showed the dilemma in TK. Factors causing a dilemma in TK are: inconsistent leadership, unclear structure and functions of TK’s organization, and uncertainty management attitude. Bureaucratic power pressure lead TK’s organizers confused to divide partisanship to the community or the government. Dilemma in TK causes ambiguous contents, more actualized public opinion but the tone of articles are neutral toward the government.

Abstract

  Approach model of local government in managing local development that has not been integrated so that the implementation of development programs so far has not fully realize a prosperous society in Kolaka regency. This research aims to describe the implementation of rural development, identify the factors inhibiting and driving the implementation of rural development, and describe the factors that determine the effectiveness of the implementation of rural development programs in Kolaka regency. The research design was a descriptive with qualitative approach. The results showed that the implementation of rural development programs through Gerbangmastra program entirely not maximized, because there are still obstacles that impede the achievement of objectives adequately. Public private partnerships, socialization of program development and community participation very determine the effectiveness of achieving objectives rural development through the implementation of Gerbangmastra programs. Public private partnership in the implementation of the program is not maximized, socialization of program uneven and community participation is still low, so the effectiveness of the achievement of development objectives through the implementation of Gerbangmastra program not maximized.

Abstract

Culture appears in all contexts of human life, included in the government's communication policy. The aim of this study is to verify the influence of the cultural dimension toward the communication policy of relocating street vendors by the Government of Yogyakarta City in 2004 to 2010. This study used 258 vendors who had been relocated as the sample. The data analysis used of this study was quantitative with the double regression analysis test.  The results of this study showed that the cultural dimension have a significant effect toward the communication of relocation policy of Street Vendors in Yogyakarta. It can be seen from the F-count (71,536) F-table (4,710), t-count (18,625) t-table (1,960) with a significance level of 0.000 (α 0,05). The regression determination coefficient (R2) showed that the communication of relocation policy of street vendors in Yogyakarta is influenced by the cultural dimension, that is about 0,600, or 60%, while the rest is about 40% due to other variables outside of the model studied.Keywords: cultural dimension; communication; relocation policy; street vendor

Abstract

The local government as a system, organizationally, has the public relations (PR) board which should ideally have a large capacity in supporting the management of policy development. This study is intended to describe the existence of PR to support the successful implementation of relocation policies of street vendors in Yogyakarta City. This research is qualitative research with the unit of analysis is the staff of PR and information from the government of Yogyakarta City. The problem to be questioned is to what extent the local government PR is performing the function and roles based on the main duties and functions which is set based on, theoretically, the essence of the ideality. The results showed that the success of the relocation of street vendors in Yogyakarta City performed collaboratively between PR and its stakeholders. Processes and mechanisms impasses through the stages of fact-finding, planning, and negotiation. PR is not involved directly in the process of communication and negotiation with street vendors, but it has become a bridge of information, mediator, and facilitator in the process of relocation. Media of communication which widely used are mass media and interpersonal media. Both kinds of media are used by the PR board and its stakeholders in creating the awareness of the street vendors to be relocated.

Abstract

Institutional reputation is commercially significant since this closely deals with share- holder value, finance, independency and market share. Notwithstanding the fact that some in- stitutions do not consider reputation in more detail, others pay highly attention on it. This leads to the needs for measuring and evaluating publicity. Nonetheless, the way to define publicity effectiveness is not simply operated by some institutions. This paper introduces an alternative formula to define publicity effectiveness level mostly needed by some institutions, including business and academic institutions.

Abstract

Popularitas penggunaan media sosial di masyarakat telah mengubah lanskap industri media secara signifikan. Media sosial memungkinkan penggunanya menjadi produsen konten di berbagai topik, termasuk informasi hiburan (infotainment). Infotainment yang mulanya lebih dikenal dalam bentuk siaran program televisi atau tertulis di majalah/tabloid hiburan bertransformasi dalam bentuk baru di media sosial, sebagaimana tergambar dalam akun Instagram @lambe_turah. Dengan menggunakan metode etnografi virtual sebagai pendekatannya, kajian ini bertujuan untuk memahami aktivitas serta sentimen pesan yang disampaikan netizen terhadap konten yang diunggah akun @lambe_turah. Selain itu, kajian ini juga bertujuan untuk melihat peran netizen dalam proses transmisi informasi tersebut.

Abstract

The use of social media as a source of information is undeniably important. As it can be used to disseminate specific information, numbers of informational based accounts emerge in various topics, including Instagram accounts which specifically bring out celebrity news as their main information. Using a social informatics perspective approach, this paper aims to capture netizen behavior related to their media habit in accessing it. The results show these accounts emerge as the primary source of information about infotainment issues. However, netizens are unwilling to leave any digital trace related to their activities during accessing these accounts.

Abstract

Penggunaan kanal pemesanan daring sebagai bagian dari strategi komunikasi pemasaran banyak diimplementasikan oleh pegiat bisnis perhotelan. Namun demikian, sejauhini belum ada model evaluasi yang dikembangkan untuk menelaah efektivitas penggunaan kanal pemesanan daring. Penelitian ini berupaya mengembangkan model evaluasi yang berangkat darimodel ICTRT dengan target untuk menemukan model evaluasi yang sesuai dengan perspektif kajian komunikasi tanpa meninggalkan konteks sosiokultural  masyarakat Indonesia. Metode yangdipakai adalah studi kasus, sehingga mengakomodir kebutuhan peneliti dalam melakukan evaluasi terhadap praktik komunikasi pemasaran pariwisata digital melalui kanal pemesanan daring secarakomprehensif.

Abstract

The improvement of security in politics and new media calls for fast action. Recent cases indicate that political position and rights to communication using new media cannot be guaranteed due to the problem of security. The reasons rest on the way the people get into politics and the aims they use new media. The following article explores how ethics may solve the problem of security, starting from ethics in democracy, politics, and new media, the causes of ethics violations, and attitudes for coping with security problems.

Abstract

This article describes the role and involvement of media in reporting disaster. Media involvement in giving people information on disaster should based on human safety, security and dignity. This paper suggests that media report on pre, during and after a disaster should consider human values at the first priority.
