Abstract

Preeclampsia is the second leading cause of maternal death in Indonesia. several risk factors include primigravida, primiparity, hyperplacentosis, family history of preeclampsia/eclampsia, kidney disease, and weight gain. The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship of weight gain during pregnancy with the incidence of preeclampsia in the puerperium of Cimahi City Hospital. This study was conducted using a cross-sectional design. The total sample included 72 pregnant women who selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data collection techniques using observation and interviews. The instruments used were observation sheets and interview sheets. The study was conducted from May to June 2019. Data were analyzed using frequency distribution for univariate analysis and chi-square test for bivariate analysis. This study was approved by the research ethics committee of Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Kesehatan Jenderal Achmad Yani More than one-third of participants had weight gain more than normal  38.9 % of respondents. There was a significant relationship between weight gain during pregnancy and the incidence of preeclampsia with p-value = 0.033 p-value <α (α = 0.05). The risk of preeclampsia is faced by women who less or more weight gain during pregnancy. It is expected that health workers, especially maternity nurses, would prevent the incidence of preeclampsia by conducting health education and motivation about maintaining weight during pregnancy. Keywords: Weight Gain, Body Mass Index (BMI), Pregnancy, Preeclampsia

Abstract

Background: One of the management of hypertension is with herbal medicine, such as cucumber juice, because cucumber contains a lot of potassium and water, a diuretic that can lower blood pressure. Aim: This study aimed to determine the effect of cucumber juice on blood pressure in patients with stage 1 hypertension. Method: The research design used was (a quasi-experimental design) with the design using the Non-Equivalent Control Group. A total of 28 people whose blood pressure was measured consisted of 14 people in the intervention group giving cucumber juice and 14 in the control group without giving cucumber juice. Results: The study’s mean systolic blood pressure in the control and intervention groups ranged above 130 mmHg and 80 mmHg for diastolic. After the intervention procedure, the mean systolic and diastolic blood pressure in the intervention group decreased to 120.71 mmHg (systolic) and 76.43 mmHg (diastolic). In contrast, the control group’s systolic and diastolic blood pressure was relatively stable. The Independent t-test result showed a significant p-value (< 0.05). Meanwhile, in the control group, a p-value of (> 0.05) was obtained, meaning there was no change in blood pressure in the control group. Conclusion: This study showed that cucumber juice affects blood pressure. Based on the study’s result, nurses need to maximize hypertension control by giving education to constantly consume anti-hypertensive drugs along with herbal medicine such as cucumber juice.

Abstract

Aims: Academic procrastination will harm student academic achievement. Based on the research results at nursing school in West Java, second-level students showed high academic procrastination behavior (Utami, 2021), and the effects of interviews with a lecturer showed that about 20% of new students did academic procrastination. So, research is needed on the factors that affect academic procrastination in students. Objective: This study aims to determine the factors that related the academic procrastination of new students in learning with blended learning. Methods: This study uses a quantitative descriptive: a cross-sectional study, the respondents are a convenience sampling of 167 new students, data collection by questionnaire. Analysis of the data used in this study is the Pearson Correlation Moment, Mann-Whitney Test, Spearman Rank Correlation, Point-biseral correlation, and linear regression. Results: Academic procrastination behavior tends to be high, self-efficacy tends to be low, and self-control is moderate (70.8%). The most influential factors in the academic procrastination of new students are gender, self-efficacy, and self-control, which are significantly related to -Value 0.00. Conclusion: Male gender and self-control are the most influential factors in academic procrastination. Suggestion: For academics, they can maximize the SCL (Student Centered Learning) learning method with Blended learning, and for students, especially boys, they must increase their activeness and independence in learning so that it is expected to increase self-efficacy and self-control.
