Abstract

Aims: Hospitalized patients with COVID-19 have been shown to experience high levels of anxiety, according to studies of their mental health, and yet these patients' states of mind have been shown to play a significant role in boosting the immune system during COVID-19 treatment. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of progressive muscle relaxation on anxiety in patients with COVID-19. Methods : The research method was a Quasi Experimental pre-test and post-test design with a control group.  The sampling technique was Convenience Sampling with 40 samples which were divided into 20 samples as intervention group and 20 people as control group. Progressive muscle relaxation of 20-30 minutes twice a day for 5 days was only given to the intervention group. A pre-test and post-test using the Fear of COVID-19 Scale (FCV-19S) were implemented to measure anxiety. Data was collected and analyzed using Paired Sample  T-test and ANCOVA. Results: showed a statistically significant change in anxiety levels from pre- to post-test for those in the intervention group, but no such change for those in the control group. The significance level for this test is 0.05, so the square root of the mean is 123,578 (F = 115,479) and the standard deviation is 0.000 (p 0.0001). In the intervention group, there is a statistically significant change in sleep quality scores between the pre- and post-test, while in the control group, there is no such change. Its square root is 112.118, its factor is 32.315, and its sign is 0.000 (p 0.05). Conclusions: The conclusion is that anxiety in patients with COVID-19 can be significantly reduced by administering progressive muscle relaxation.

Abstract

Cancer occurs due to the addition of mass in body cells that can spread and cause death. The problems arising from cancer are physical, psychological, and spiritual problems. Spiritual intervention is essential and valuable as one of the treatment efforts in dealing with issues caused by cancer. However, there are obstacles where nurses still need to be exposed to much information about spiritual intervention. The purpose of this study was to obtain an overview of spiritual intervention in cancer patients. This study uses the Scoping Review method. Literature review through Ebsco, Pubmed, Science Direct, and Sage Journals databases. The keywords used in English are Cancer, Spiritual intervention,” AND “Spiritual needs OR spiritual experience OR spirituality”. The criteria for articles in this study are full text, free access, randomized control trial or quasi-experiment research design, English language, population and samples of cancer patients, and the publication period of the last ten years (2013-2022). Found ten articles with different spiritual interventions on cancer patients. Two papers with mindfulness intervention, an article with a spiritual counselling intervention, 3 with spiritual intervention, 2 with spiritual therapy intervention, and 2 with spiritual care intervention. Five spiritual interventions for cancer patients can overcome problems caused by cancer, namely mindfulness, spiritual counselling, spiritual intervention, spiritual therapy, and spiritual care. Spiritual counselling is a very effective intervention because it is carried out intensively and comprehensively to maximize the psychological well-being of cancer patients.

Abstract

Background: HIV transmission in males, particularly in Indonesia, is increasing due to increased sexual activity among Men who have Sex with Men (MSM) groups. This is largely due to diminished self-esteem and reluctance to disclose their status, influenced by factors like power, virtue, relevance, and competence. Aims: The study investigates the self-esteem of MSM living with HIV and explores the factors that may influence their self-esteem. Methods: This study employs a descriptive qualitative study. The study used interviews and content analysis techniques to gather data on HIV individuals at the Public Health Center, specifically focusing on MSM. Results: The interview data revealed six themes: individualism, body image dissatisfaction, lack of motivation, lack of peer support, aspiration to be useful, and self-esteem needs. Conclusion: The study reveals that self-esteem in HIV-positive men is influenced by coping strategies, body image dissatisfaction, motivation, and peer support. It suggests helping others and enhancing library resources, regular investigations, and a specialized counseling program to improve self-esteem.

Abstract

Background: Substance abuse among adolescent in Indonesia remains public health problem. The CRFFT is the most widely utilized high-risk drug screening tool. Its use in different countries and contexts shows its enormous potential. Although the CRAFFT has been utilized on occasion by professionals and researchers in Indonesia, no psychometric tests have been conducted to ensure that it works reliably in our country.  Objectives: This study aimed to examine the psychometric performance of the CRAFFT screening tool among Indonesian adolescents. Methods: Eighty adolescents aged 15–18 years, recruited from a drug rehabilitation facility in West Java, Indonesia, participated in the research. The CRAFFT instrument underwent a four-step translation and adaptation process. Content validity was assessed using Aiken’s V index. The factorial structure of the instrument was explored through exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and subsequently verified with confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Internal consistency reliability was evaluated using the Kuder–Richardson 20 (KR-20) coefficient. Results: CRAFTT CVI was 0.80–1.00 with the factor loadings for each of the three scales in the CRAFTT was 0.65–0.88. The results of the confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) for CRAFFT were as follows: I2 = 64.11, p-value = 0.121, and df = 78. Pearson correlation coefficients for the six different subscales ranged from 0.450 to 0.637. KR-20 coefficient of CRAFFT was 0.767. Corrected Homogeneity Index (CHI) ranged from 0.314 to 0.580. Conclusion: The results of this study demonstrate that the CRAFFT instrument can serve as a practical and effective tool for identifying substance use issues among adolescents in Indonesia. Further investigations are recommended to examine its sensitivity and specificity in order to establish stronger evidence for the validity of the CRAFFT within this population.
