Abstract

The people economy is often called the economic life of people, this terminology contains specific meaning. The economy of people describes the actor of economy, but the economic life of people explains the economical system. The Indonesian people economy play important role, for Indonesian economy, and  also it is motivated and supported by Indonesia govemment. For that reason, the strict policy for economy is needed in ordereconomy unit can develop in particular to increase Indonesian national output, finally, the Indonesian economy building towards to a just, prosperous, welfare, and independent society.

Abstract

The importance of strategic policy in the area of political economy in among the significant factors determining the economic wellbeing of the society. The intervening variables that comes from various aspects within the country or global environment as well, also contribute to creation of economic stability. There are political flaws and global forces to be considered. Among political flaws in there are acute corruption mentality and high cost political process, where as among global forces are WTO and various funding institutions. The both aspects have led to the difficulty in maintaining a good economic wellbeing of the country. Amidst such condition, the importance of local culture should be properly recognized for the creation of a betel political situation. Again, a careful negotiation should also be initiated to persuade global forces in order, that global policies may not burdening domestic economic progress.

Abstract

Nationalism as an ideological concept is considered to be one among important aspects in the creation of the character of the nation, including Indonesians, The character building for the nation in turn will determine the quality of the nation. The process of development within countries across the globe is partly shaped its success by the characters of the respective nation. The inception of such ideological concept can be efficiently introduced through many channels, and education is a channel that can be utilized optimally to internalize the nationalism to the students' personality. It is considered therefore that certain ways of education that may support the internalization of such ideology need to be enhanced.Key words: nationalism, education, character

Abstract

This article is intended to discuss some experiences of the Islamic University of Indonesia (Universitas Islam Indonesia, here in after UII) in developing its core competences as the main source of competitiveness to face higher education changes and challenges. This article reveals that the UII has developed its core competences mainly in the arts of management and governance of the university. The UII has introduced a more simple but flexible structure of management in all units, in order to reduce cost and to fasten decision making process. Using such a management and governance, the UII has developed its main activities based on its mission to promote Islamic values, as blessing for all creatures. This article suggests that universities, especially those of Islamic ones, develop their core competences based on management and govemance issues, such as the real world challenges, commitments, and Islamic values.
