Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mendeskripsikan kebutuhan siswa dalam belajar bahasa Inggris dan (2) mengembangkan materi membaca berbasis komik untuk kegiatan pengayaan bahasa Inggris di sekolah menengah pertama. Penelitian ini merupakan peneltian dan pengembangan yang terdiri dari 5 langkah, yaitu (1) melakukan analisa kebutuhan; (2) menulis silabus; (3) menulis konsep materi pertama; (4) mengevaluasi konsep materi pertama; dan (5) menulis materi final. Data didapatkan melalui teknik survei, wawancara, dan skala peniliaian. Selanjutnya, data dianalisa menggunakan perhitungan persen, rata-rata, teknik deskriptif kualitatif, dan teknik deksriptif kuantitatif. Penelitian ini melibatkan 32 siswa kelas IX, 1 guru bahasa Inggris SMP, 1 ahli materi Bahasa Inggris, dan 1 ahli komik. Hasil dari penelitian ini meliputi (1) deskripsi mengenai kebutuhan siswa saat belajar bahasa Inggris pada aspek kebutuhan target, kebutuhan siswa, dan preferensi komik dan (2) materi pembelajaran membaca berbasis komik untuk kegiatan pengayaan bahasa Inggris. Dari hasil evaluasi, skor rata-rata dari produk yang dikembangkan adalah 3,33 dari skala 4. Jadi, produk dikategorikan sebagai sangat bagus dan layak untuk digunakan pada kegiatan pengayaan bahasa Inggris di sekolah menengah pertama.

Abstract

English for specific purposes has been highlighted for its importance in enhancing specialized language skills for university students, including those in the music education department. This study aims to determine music education students’ characteristics, target needs, and learning needs for an ESP course. The data were collected by distributing a questionnaire to students of the music education department and conducting an interview with a graduate of the music education department. The findings show the music education students’ characteristics, what they need in the target situation, and what they need to learn in the ESP course. Most students had positive attitudes towards English, realized the importance of English, and had been using English in some daily activities. Regarding the target needs, most students wanted the ESP course to help them learn English in music contexts and learn music from various English resources. Related to learning needs, some points about materials delivery and assessment were found. The results of this study can be used as the foundation for developing an “English for music education students” course.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis kebutuhan media pembelajaran Seni Budaya berbasis pendekatan deep learning dalam implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka di jenjang SMA. Latar belakang penelitian didasari oleh kesenjangan antara peluang pemanfaatan teknologi digital (seperti multimedia interaktif, AR, dan VR) dengan keterbatasan infrastruktur, kompetensi guru, serta minimnya integrasi refleksi dalam praktik pembelajaran seni. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif melalui wawancara mendalam dan focus group discussion (FGD) bersama 25 guru MGMP Seni Budaya di Yogyakarta. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya ketidakkonsistenan dalam penerjemahan capaian pembelajaran, keterbatasan waktu tatap muka, preferensi siswa terhadap media digital, dan lemahnya aspek refleksi. Guru membutuhkan media pembelajaran yang sederhana, mobile-first, offline-friendly, serta berbasis budaya lokal. Rekomendasi penelitian ini mencakup pengembangan media hybrid (digital dan cetak), repositori kolaboratif “Rumah Media Seni Budaya”, serta pelatihan modular bagi guru. Dengan integrasi teknologi dan prinsip mindful, meaningful, dan joyful, pembelajaran seni budaya diharapkan dapat mendorong kreativitas siswa, memperkuat identitas budaya, dan mendukung pencapaian deep learning sesuai semangat Kurikulum Merdeka.

Abstract

Abstract: An Analysis of Senior High School Students’ Difficulties in Learning Historical Recount Text. Objectives: This study described the senior high school students’ difficulties while learning historical recount text in English class and analyzed the causes of their difficulties. Methods: This study used a test, a questionnaire, and an interview. Findings: This study showed that 67% of students considered historical recount text as difficult materials. Students’ average score was 52.94 or below the minimum criteria of mastery learning. 23.5% of students passed the minimum criteria, while 76.5% of students did not pass it. Students’ difficulties in the “high” level of difficulty were about the social function, text structure, and main idea. Meanwhile, grammar features and arranging text had a “moderate” level of difficulty. The causes of these difficulties were the lack of vocabulary mastery, the lack of understanding about the concept of recount text, and the lack of grammar understanding. Conclusion: Students face difficulties in reading historical recount text materials due to the lack of English vocabulary mastery, grammar, and text concept. Keywords: English, reading, historical recount text, learning difficulties, senior high school. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v11.i2.202109
