Abstract

Background: Multicultural education serves as a reflective critique and exploration of these issues to pave the way for cross-cultural communication and promote fair and constructive engagement with cultural diversity; (2) Purpose of the Study: This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the multicultural approach in Islamic religious education on students' learning outcomes and understanding of pluralistic values; (3) Methods: The research employs a mixed-methods approach with an explanatory sequential design, integrating both quantitative and qualitative analyses. The study was conducted at MI Muhammadiyah Bontobodda, SDN 23 Centre Takalar, and SD Inpres Bone, involving a sample of 30 third-grade students from each school, selected through purposive sampling. The learning approaches examined in this study include multicultural, humanistic, and constructivist approaches; (4) Results: The Kruskal-Wallis test showed significant differences in learning outcomes (p = 0.004), particularly between the multicultural and constructivist approaches (p = 0.009) and the humanistic and constructivist approaches (p = 0.005). Thematic analysis further revealed that the multicultural approach enhanced students’ understanding of tolerance and inclusivity, while the humanistic approach emphasized character-building and self-reflection in Islamic education; and (5) Conclusions: The humanistic and multicultural approaches were more effective in enhancing learning outcomes and pluralism understanding compared to the constructivist approach. The study’s findings highlight the need to strengthen instructional strategies that integrate humanistic and multicultural elements to improve the effectiveness of Islamic religious education in elementary schools.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi jurnalistik mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia (PBSI) Universitas Negeri Makassar melalui pelatihan berbasis praktik. Pelatihan dirancang menggunakan model participatory training dan experiential learning, meliputi penyampaian konsep dasar jurnalistik, lokakarya penulisan berita, simulasi peliputan dan wawancara, serta pendampingan penyuntingan. Data diperoleh melalui pre-test, post-test, observasi, serta analisis terhadap hasil karya peserta. Hasil menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan pada pemahaman konseptual mahasiswa mengenai struktur berita, prinsip 5W+1H, penulisan lead, serta etika jurnalistik. Kemampuan praktik peserta juga berkembang, ditandai dengan meningkatnya kualitas naskah berita yang lebih runtut, akurat, dan sesuai kaidah jurnalistik. Selain itu, pelatihan ini memperkuat kesadaran etis peserta terhadap verifikasi informasi dan tanggung jawab moral dalam penyebaran informasi di era digital. Dengan demikian, pelatihan jurnalistik ini efektif dalam memperkuat kompetensi literasi media mahasiswa PBSI UNM sekaligus mendukung peran mereka sebagai calon pendidik dan agen literasi di masyarakat.

Abstract

The study aims to analyze the representation of climate crisis discourse in modern media using Fairclough’s Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) framework. It focuses on how language is used to frame climate change issues, uncover underlying ideologies, and examine power relations among state actors, corporations, and civil society. Employing a qualitative approach with a case study design, the research analyzes news texts discussing climate change, energy transition, and environmental policies. Data were examined through the three CDA dimensions, textual, discursive, and social practices, to reveal meaning construction and ideological tendencies within media narratives. The findings indicate that climate crisis discourse in the media predominantly emphasizes technocratic solutions, institutional moral responsibility, and international cooperation, while marginalizing civil society participation. At the social level, media reproduce the ideology of green capitalism and sustainable development that prioritize efficiency, investment, and global partnership. The results demonstrate that climate issue representation in media is not neutral but shaped by economic–political interests and global power structures. Therefore, fostering critical media literacy and promoting inclusive, transformative alternative discourses are essential for developing ecological awareness among younger generations, particularly Generation Z.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan konstruksi kekuasaan dalam teks pemberitaan media online Fajar.co.id berdasarkan analisis metafora melalui fitur kosakata. Kajian ini berangkat dari pandangan bahwa bahasa media tidak bersifat netral, melainkan sarat dengan ideologi dan relasi kekuasaan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan ialah deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan analisis wacana kritis (AWK) model Norman Fairclough, yang difokuskan pada analisis metafora dalam teks berita. Data diperoleh dari beberapa teks berita di Fajar.co.id yang menampilkan metafora representatif, khususnya dalam rubrik pendidikan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metafora seperti menyelami realita, cahaya pendidikan, akar rumput, mengobral gelar, mencederai nilai-nilai Pancasila, melecehkan umat Islam, dan bonus demografi berfungsi sebagai instrumen retoris untuk membingkai realitas sosial dan meneguhkan ideologi tertentu. Penggunaan metafora tersebut menunjukkan upaya media dalam menanamkan pandangan, membentuk kesadaran publik, serta mengukuhkan posisi kekuasaan simbolik di ruang diskursif.
