Abstract

Ranah Pesisir Subdistrict, located in Pesisir Selatan Regency, is a flood-prone area due to its lowland geographical condition and proximity to the coastline and rivers. This study aims to analyze the flood vulnerability levels of secondary schools using a quantitative descriptive approach based on Geographic Information System (GIS). The study also seeks to describe the preparedness level of schools in mitigating flood disasters in Ranah Pesisir Subdistrict. Parameters analyzed include elevation, slope, rainfall, soil type, land use, and river proximity. The results show that the majority of secondary schools analyzed are located in zones categorized as "Vulnerable" to "Highly Vulnerable" to flooding. Schools such as UPT SMP Negeri 3 Ranah Pesisir, MTSN 2 Pesisir Selatan, MAN 2 Pesisir Selatan, and MTS Bahrul 'Ulum Sungai Tunu fall into the "Highly Vulnerable" category due to their low elevation, close proximity to rivers, and inadequate drainage systems. The dominant contributing factors are low elevation, proximity to rivers, and poor drainage infrastructure. Mitigation recommendations include the construction of protective embankments, improvement of drainage systems, disaster preparedness education, and the development of School Flood Contingency Plans. These findings are expected to serve as a basis for policymaking in disaster risk reduction efforts within the education sector, particularly in strengthening school infrastructure standards in flood-prone areas, establishing mandatory school-based disaster contingency plans, enhancing coordination between schools and local disaster management agencies, integrating flood preparedness into the school curriculum, and prioritizing infrastructure investments such as drainage rehabilitation and protective embankment construction for high-risk schools

Abstract

The investigation of general criminal offenses exhibits several implementation-related phenomena, including wrongful arrests and an overreliance on eliciting confessions from examinees. This study focuses on the investigative process as reflected in the verbaal van verhoor (interrogation record). Within investigative interactions, the object of analysis is the investigator’s MOOD system. MOOD is selected because, as a linguistic resource within the interpersonal meaning domain of Systemic Functional Linguistics, it constitutes the lexicogrammatical basis through which investigators organize meaning exchange in investigative conversations in accordance with particular aims or interests. This research adopts a critical qualitative approach, employed to critically and emancipatorily uncover the realities of investigators’ language use. The study is designed as a case study, examining a general criminal case at the investigation stage within the police institution. The findings indicate that investigative conversations in this case contain 25 instances of MOOD usage by the investigator. The investigator's dominant status and the pursuit of confession drive the interaction, as shown by these results. This study makes two concrete contributions: (1) serving as a reference for the development of emancipatory investigative questioning instruments, and (2) informing the development of teaching materials for forensic linguistics courses using a Systemic Functional Linguistics approach. Future research may employ comparative units drawn from other criminal cases or specific contexts, such as doctor-patient interactions

Abstract

Precet Forest Park (PFP) is a unique community-based tourism destination that integrates forest conservation with active production functions, such as resin tapping and coffee cultivation. This study evaluates the strategic position of PFP to formulate a sustainable development model, specifically operationalizing its role as an authentic learning resource for geography education. A descriptive mixed-methods framework was employed, synthesizing qualitative insights from in-depth interviews and field observations into quantitative Internal Factor Analysis Summary (IFAS) and External Factor Analysis Summary (EFAS) matrices. To ensure methodological rigor and mitigate subjectivity, weights and ratings were assigned through a triangulated expert judgment process involving consensus with the LMDH Wana Lestari management. Quantitative evaluation identifies a robust internal index (IFAS: 4.13) against an external score of 2.25. However, these metrics are underscored by a critical threat intensity of 4.27, primarily stemming from acute regional destination competition and inherent geophysical vulnerabilities such as landslide risks. Consequently, the site is situated within Quadrant II of the SWOT matrix. The findings dictate a diversification strategy, rebranding the site as an educational outdoor laboratory to mitigate external pressures. This approach aims to optimize the park’s function as an authentic learning resource designed to support students' spatial intelligence and disaster mitigation awareness. Ultimately, this strategic shift ensures the destination's long-term economic viability and ecological sustainability through structured pedagogical innovation, effectively bridging the gap between classroom theory and socio-spatial realities to enhance geographic literacy.
