Abstract

This study aimed at finding out whether or not Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR) and students’ reading attitude influence the students’ reading comprehension and there was or no a significant interaction effect of Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR) and students’ reading attitude toward the tenth grade students’ reading comprehension of SMA Negeri 1 Buay Madang OKU Timur. The population of this study was 131 students of SMA Negeri 1 Buay Madang OKU Timur. From the population, there were 40 students taken as sample of experimental group and 40 students were as control group. The sample was taken using stratified random sampling. In carrying out the research, the writer used a factorial group design. Finnaly the calculation using a two-way ANOVA was used to measure an interaction between Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR) and students reading attitude on their reading comprehension. Test of Between-Subjects Effects analyses, the significant value of the techniques (CSR and traditional) and the students’ reading attitude were 0.130, the probability sig. of technique was 0.175, and the interaction between positive and negative attitude was 0.245 which higher than the significant level of p-value 0.05, it meant that there was no a significant interactions between students’ interest and techniques. So, the research hypothesis that stated “there is no an interaction between CSR and reading attitude toward students’ reading comprehension” was accepted and the null hypothesis was not rejected based on the data finding.

Abstract

This study aimed at finding out whether or not drill tenhnique influence the students’ irregular verbs of SMA Negeri 1 Buay Madang OKU Timur. The population of this study was 195 students of SMA Negeri 1 Buay Madang OKU Timur. From the population, there were 40 students taken as sample of experimental group and 40 students were as control group. The sample was taken using cluster random sampling. In carrying out the research, the writer used match t-test for analizing the data. The result of this research show that drill technique is effective to teach irregular verbs at the tenth year students of SMA Negeri 1 Buay Madang.

Abstract

The problem of this study is "is it effective using PORPE method to teach reading comprehension at the seventh-grade students of SMP Pangudi Luhur Santo Aloysius Sukaraja OKU Timur?". The objective of the study is "to find out whether or not PORPE method is effective to teach reading comprehension at the seventh grade of SMP Pangudi Luhur Santo Aloysius Sukaraja OKU Timur." In this study, the pre-experimental method was used. The population is all of the seventh-grade students of SMP Pangudi Luhur Santo Aloysius Sukaraja OKU Timur, with the total number of the students 30 students. The sample is 30 students taken through saturated sampling consisting of 30 students as the sample. Based on the description, it could be seen that the result of students pre-test the average score was 5.01 and the result of the student's average score in post-test was 8.01. The result calculation of the matched t-test was 5.45. the t-obtained was higher than t-table 1.699. It means that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. In another word, the result of the study showed that it was effective teaching reading comprehension by using PORPE method at the seventh-grade students of SMP Pangudi Luhur Santo Aloysius Sukaraja OKU Timur.

Abstract

This study is an analysis of sentence structure by using a syntactic approach that portrayed in the tree diagram. This study focused only on the discussion covering the identification of types of sentence and sentence structure. It was found that there are 191 sentences from the six selected text in the textbook consisting of the simple sentence which has 53 sentences (27,75%), the compound sentence has 79 sentences (41,36%), the complex sentence has 33 sentences (17,27% ) and the compound-complex sentence has 26 sentences (13,61%) from the total number of the data. The finding of the analysis shows that the English textbook has all types of sentences, based on both several clauses and their syntactic properties. A drawing tree diagram is a fundamental skill in the study of syntactic structure; it is a common practice to provide a visual representation of the internal structure of phrase and clause. Tree diagrams are a clear way of representing syntactic structure graphically.

Abstract

The goal of this study was to determine if there was a significant difference in vocabulary mastery between seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 3 Belitang Mulya who were taught using the Duolingo program and those who were taught using the conventional approach. Quantitative research, an experimental technique, and a quasi-experimental design were employed. In the academic year2021/2022, seventh graders from SMP Negeri 3 Belitang Mulya were the population. The sample was collected by purposeful sampling, and it consisted of an experimental group of 27 students and a control group of 28 students. The data were collected using a multiple-choice exam and analyzed using the independent t-test in SPSS 22. This investigation found a significant distinction between the experimental and control groups. This meant that students in the seventh grade at SMP Negeri 3 Belitang Mulya may use the Duolingo App to teach and acquire vocabulary.
