Abstract

Pesantren is an Islamic education institution widely available in Indonesia. Various issues, such as intolerance to radicalism related to Pesantren, have emerged. Pesantren has made multiple efforts to stem this issue, one of which is through religious literacy activities. The image of Santri, who has low information literacy skills, is also allegedly one of the factors that prompted the emergence of these issues. This research aimed to explore the use of digital technology in religious literacy activities in Pesantren Thawalib Parabek in West Sumatra. This study also examined libraries' role in religious literacy activities in Pesantren. This study used qualitative research with a field study approach and used primary data from interviews, observation, and documentation. The secondary data was collected from Pesantren documents. This study conducted credibility, transferability, dependability, and confirmability tests using triangulation and audit techniques to ensure the validation of research data. Pesantren utilized digital technology products in religious literacy activities. These products included web-based applications, social media, and live-streaming media. This media aimed to promote, document, and disseminate activity information. The library has a vital role in literacy activities in Pesantren, namely as a place, mediator, facilitator, and contributor who provides the information sources needed for these activities. Pesantren faces internal obstacles in using digital technology due to limitation policies on the use of technology in the Pesantren environment. To overcome these obstacles, the government can collaborate with libraries to carry out religious literacy activities in Pesantren.

Abstract

This study analyzed how to optimize SLiMS 8 Acacia in improving the quality of library services at Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Fatmawati Sukarno Bengkulu and analyze the factors that hinder the optimization. This research is qualitative research using interview, observation and documentation methods. The results show that the optimization of the use of SLiMS 8 Acacia has been carried out through the establishment of clear service objectives, the development of additional features, and the integration of the system with user needs. These efforts have been proven to improve the quality of library services, especially in terms of ease of access to information, efficiency of collection management, and improvement of users' digital literacy. In addition, SLiMS-based services are considered quite good when viewed from five service quality indicators, namely appearance, reliability, responsiveness, certainty, and empathy for the needs of the librarian. Some of the obstacles faced include limited technology infrastructure, lack of competent human resources in technical/IT terms, uneven levels of technology literacy among users, and technical obstacles related to data migration and integration from previous systems.

Abstract

Career Development Services in Higher Education are a crucial pillar in producing productive, work-ready graduates. In practice, each university faces various obstacles in preparing students for their careers, both in terms of infrastructure and external networks. This study aims to compare career development service models at State Universities (PTN) and State Islamic Religious Universities (PTKIN), focusing on the career centers of the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) and UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through semi-structured interviews and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) involving career center administrators. The results show that both institutions provide similar core services, including career counseling, job vacancy information, recruitment programs, job fairs, and tracer studies. These services are designed to bridge the gap between graduates and the labor market while enhancing students’ competencies and employability. However, differences are found in institutional structure, service delivery, and program emphasis. ITS demonstrates a stronger system in managing career portals and establishing partnerships with industry, which facilitates alumni connections with companies. In contrast, UIN Sunan Kalijaga shows greater emphasis on career preparation through structured graduation briefing programs and continuous career guidance. In conclusion, although PTN and PTKIN share similar objectives in supporting student career development, their service models differ in implementation strategies and institutional priorities. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening career center services to improve graduate readiness and competitiveness in the labor market.
