Abstract

This study aims to address the challenges of teaching grammar, which often relies on theoretical material with limited practical application, individual teaching methods, and a teacher-cantered approach. It proposes the use of project-based learning (PjBL) as a model to engage students actively and improve their understanding of grammar. The research, conducted at Nurul Ulum Islamic Religious School for Girls in Kebonsari, Malang, East Java, explores the implementation of the PjBL model in grammar instruction and the nature of the projects used in this context. The model comprises three main stages: pre-action (goal setting, tool selection, and time planning), action (assignment, planning, and evaluation), and post-action. During the action phase, students work collaboratively to construct sentences based on Qur'anic verses, with a specific focus on understanding grammatical rules such as the nominative case for nouns. The findings suggest that this approach fosters students’ initiative, independence, and cooperation while promoting responsibility in problem-solving tasks. This model enhances students' active participation and engagement, making grammar instruction more dynamic and contextually relevant.

Abstract

The learning of reading skills is one of the important aspects in mastering the Arabic language. However, the lack of motivation and student engagement in the learning process often becomes an obstacle in achieving learning goals. Therefore, innovation in the use of learning media is needed to enhance student motivation and interactivity. This study aims to 1) determine the use of Monopoly media in teaching reading skills to students at MTs Islamiyah Malang and 2) identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in the use of Monopoly media in this learning process. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach using observation, interviews, and documentation methods to collect data. The research subjects are teachers and students of MTs Islamiyah Malang who are directly involved in the learning process. The results indicate that the use of monopoly media in teaching reading skills has a positive impact on students' motivation and engagement. This media makes learning more interesting and interactive, thereby motivating students to actively participate in reading Arabic texts. Additionally, teachers find the structured gameplay helpful in delivering material more enjoyably. The supporting factors for using monopoly media in teaching reading skills to MTs students are 1) high student interest in game-based learning media, 2) attractive learning material design, and 3) available learning facilities at school. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors include 1) limited instructional time, 2) differences in students' abilities, and 3) technical constraints.

Abstract

Educational technology is a crucial tool for advancing the teaching-learning process, prompting researchers to explore supportive digital media. This study examined the impact of implementing the digital tool ClassDojo with the Flipped Classroom model in teaching Arabic to ninth-grade students at two schools in Medan. The research responded to the rising need to improve students’ Arabic skills and foster greater engagement in the learning process, especially amid shifts to technology-based models that support self-directed learning. This study employed a descriptive qualitative method to explore the experiences and perceptions of students and teachers regarding the implementation of ClassDojo using the Flipped Classroom model. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, as well as primary sources such as students and teachers and secondary sources such as previous studies and relevant literature. The researchers analyzed the data using statistical analysis tools and examined interview data to understand the impact of the Flipped Classroom model with ClassDojo on student learning. Results show that using ClassDojo in the Flipped Classroom model significantly improves students’ engagement and comprehension compared to traditional methods. This study highlights the value of integrating educational technology with innovative models like Flipped Classroom to enhance learning effectiveness and provide an interactive learning environment.
