Abstract

Ngajaran Village is one of the villages whose residents have a living as factory workers. The number of women who have had a family working as factory workers has caused the family to involve the role of grandmother in the care of their children. This study used qualitative research methods. The research location is in the village of Ngajaran, Tuntang District, Semarang Regency. This study uses the concept of Phenomenology from Alfred Schutz. The results of this study indicate that (1) women factory workers have a reason to choose work compared to taking care of the household and caring for children, namely the wages received as factory workers are better than other sectors, increasing family income, and utilizing the education achieved. (2) Women factory workers perceive the role of care can be handed over to grandmother. Caregiving was handed over to grandmother by women factory workers in Ngajaran Village because they had to work every day. Conditions that must work every day make women factory workers more striving to fulfill the physical needs of children and families to become a priority. The purpose of women factory workers is to work, which is to realize a prosperous family in the future.

Abstract

Background. This community service program is encouraged by the need for partners, which is the absence of specific activities related to the development of science and technology. Therefore, through the introduction of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) in the learning, it is expected that this program can provide a lighter for the Sukosari Bandongan Elementary School teachers. STEM forms quality human resources to reason, think critically, logically, and systematically so that later they can be useful in facing global challenges and solving problems in everyday life. Purpose. This program aims to provide teachers with learning innovations through STEM education. Method. The activity consists of training in making simple products from the surrounding environment which can later be used as learning media. The training is carried out using lecture, discussion, practice, and mentoring methods. Results. The expected output is an increase in basic knowledge, especially in the field of science and technology which is manifested in simple STEM-based products. There are also some other products like training modules, posters, and publications of service results on social media. Conclusion. STEM education is a form of assistance to Sukosari elementary school teachers in improving learning innovation. The teachers need assistance to explore learning materials that can be integrated with STEM. They have very good motivation in practicing simple STEM-based tools. This can be seen from those who actively participate in the training sessions, practice properly, and ask some questions about some matters they do not yet clearly understand. The created simple products can be simple demonstration examples in a STEM-nuanced learning.

Abstract

The development of the era of globalization is accelerating, which must be supported by the ability of expert students. This study aims to find out how content-differentiated learning through the ESS-MATH-based Problem-Based Learning model affects the ability of class X students of SMK N 1 Klaten to solve problems from a learning style. This study uses a descriptive approach with qualitative research methods. The instruments used were David Kolb's learning style questionnaire, the ESS-MATH application and problem-solving ability questions. The results obtained are that the application of content-differentiated learning using the ESS-MATH-based PBL model is able to improve students' skills in problem-solving according to their learning style. The ESS-MATH application is a new alternative in the implementation of content-differentiated learning because it can meet the learning needs of students and ease of use.

Abstract

In the era of globalization, the 21st century requires learning integrated with technological developments and innovation. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Connecting, Organizing, Reflecting, Extending (CORE) learning model based on the Geogebra Applet on students' critical thinking ability regarding learning styles. The design of this study is quasi-experimental. The samples in this study were students of class XI MIPA 1 and XI MIPA 2 SMA Negeri 2 Magelang who were selected by the cluster random sampling technique. The instruments used in this study were critical thinking ability tests and learning style questionnaires. Based on the results of the hypothesis test conducted with the ANOVA test of two unequal cell paths and the LSD (Least Significance Difference) follow-up test, results were obtained:  (i) The Core learning model based on the Geogebra Applet produces students' critical thinking ability better than the direct learning model; (ii) There are differences in critical thinking ability between students and the learning styles of divergers, convergers, assimilators and accommodators; (iii) There is no interaction between the Geogebra Applet-based CORE learning model and the direct learning model with the student's learning style.
