Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve the skills of teachers, students, and literacy communities in Dumai City in writing and translating bilingual children’s stories. The background of this activity lies in the limited availability of high-quality children’s reading materials in two languages, while literacy needs and foreign language proficiency are becoming increasingly urgent in the global era. The implementation method was carried out through technical guidance (training), which included workshops on children’s story writing, mentoring in translation into a second language, as well as peer review and revision sessions. The results of the activity showed an improvement in participants’ competencies, both in understanding the structure of children’s stories, techniques for composing simple language, and communicative translation strategies. Several bilingual children’s stories were successfully produced as final outputs, which have the potential to be developed into teaching materials or children’s reading resources in schools and the community. Thus, this mentoring program has proven effective in supporting the strengthening of a literacy culture and fostering the community’s creative spirit in producing bilingual children’s literature.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the basic concept of the educational curriculum applied at SDII Luqman Al Hakim Batam. The curriculum is an important element in the education system that determines the direction, goals, and teaching methods used to achieve student competencies. SDII Luqman Al Hakim Batam has a unique and comprehensive curriculum designed to integrate Islamic values ​​with general knowledge. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis related to the school curriculum. The results of the study indicate that the curriculum at SDII Luqman Al Hakim Batam prioritizes the formation of student character, improving critical thinking skills, and mastery of science and technology. In addition, this curriculum also pays attention to the individual needs of students and encourages active participation of parents in the education process. The implications of this study are expected to be a reference for curriculum development in other similar schools.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka di SDII Luqman Al-Hakim 02 Batam dan dampaknya terhadap mutu pendidikan. Kurikulum Merdeka merupakan inisiatif baru dalam sistem pendidikan Indonesia yang memberikan kebebasan kepada sekolah untuk mengembangkan kurikulum sesuai dengan kebutuhan dan potensi siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif analisis. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka di SDII Luqman Al-Hakim 02 Batam telah meningkatkan mutu pendidikan, terutama dalam hal kreativitas, kemandirian, dan keterlibatan siswa dalam proses pembelajaran. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi referensi bagi sekolah lain yang ingin mengadopsi Kurikulum Merdeka untuk meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan.
