Abstract

Red Pitaya fruit (Hylocereus polyrhizus) known as an attractive source of natural red colourant for food application. The extraction of betacyanin pigment was extracted from the flesh of red pitaya fruits grown in Malaysia by using water as the extracting solvent and Rohapect 1BL was used to clarify the pigment extract. Microcapsules Pitaya Pigment Powders were prepared by using combination of Maltodextrin 10 DE and 25 DE with ratio (1:2). The objective of this study was to analyze the storage stability (color retention, pigment retention and kinetic degradation) on pitaya pigment powders on light and dark condition of storage for 24 weeks. The effect of Ascorbic acid at two concerntrations (0.1 % and 1.0%) were also investigated. The results showed that addition of different amount of ascorbic acid did not affect to L* values. The changes of L* values in sample with the addition ascorbic acid (0.1 % and 1.0 %) was ranged from 0.31 to 0.34. Samples with 1.0 % ascorbic acid at 0 % and 32 % RH, their half lives were both shorter (26.7 months and 20.0 months, respectively. Based on the results showed that red pitaya pigment powders were stable upon storage until 24 weeks and it could be as an alternative source of red colourant.

Abstract

Betacyanin pigments from red pitaya fruit (Hylocereus polyrhizus) could be an alternative source of natural red colourant for food application. The extraction of betacyanin pigment was extracted from the flesh of red pitaya fruits grown locally in Malaysia by using water as the extracting solvents. Spray-drying technique was also performed on the pigment extracts to increase the stability and shelf life of the pigment extracts obtained. Two types of maltodextrin with different DE’s (10 DE and 25 DE) and mixtures (10 DE + 25 DE) were used as coating agents in the spray drying technique to give a total soluble solid (TSS) ranging from 20 % - 30 %. The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of different types of maltodextrin on the morphology of pigment powder. The morphology of the red pitaya pigment powders produced at drying temperatures (200 ˚C) in the spray drying technique were characterized by using Scanning Electron Microscopy. The morphology of pigment powders upon storage (0 - 6 months) with the ascorbic acid (0.1 % and 1.0 % w/w, respectively) addition was also investigated. Maltodextrin 25 DE had smoother outer structures when compared to 10 DE. The SEM micrographs showed that 10 DE samples had more surface indentations and cracks in wall system. Abstract

This research aims to measure the contribution and influence of influencers, hedonic browsing, and visual appeal on impulsive buying behavior among online shopping customers. Tight competition in e-commerce in Indonesia, especially on platforms such as Shopee and Instagram, encourages various marketing strategies to increase sales. One strategy is to use influencers who can influence consumers' impulse purchasing decisions. This research uses quantitative methods by collecting data through questionnaires distributed to 65 respondents who are Shopee and Instagram users. The data analysis technique used is Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with the help of SmartPLS 3 software. The research results show that influencers contribute 20.5% to impulsive buying, hedonic browsing contributes 57.5%, and visual appeal contributes 79%. % of hedonic browsing. These findings provide important implications for retailers in determining effective marketing strategies to encourage impulse buying behavior, with an emphasis on the use of influencers and increasing the visual appeal of online shopping platforms. This research also provides insight into the development of marketing science, especially in the context of e-commerce

Abstract

Healthcare services in Indonesia are considered inadequate, particularly in patient management at hospitals, which face significant challenges related to operational efficiency and service quality. With underlying issues such as limited capacity and resources, the variability of patient needs, and difficulties in predicting visit patterns, this research highlights the urgency of optimizing patient management through an innovative approach. This study aims to develop an effective patient management model by combining the RFM (Recency, Frequency, Monetary) method with Fuzzy C-Means. This approach is expected to provide a more accurate understanding of patient behavior and needs, enabling more effective resource allocation and improved service quality. The research methodology involves a literature review, data collection and preprocessing, clustering using the Fuzzy C-Means algorithm, cluster validation, patient characteristic analysis, and report preparation. Transaction and registration data from patients at Malahayati Hospital Medan, covering the period from January 2023 to March 2024, serve as the basis for the analysis

Abstract

UKM Sergai Connection as a producer of turus is very dependent on the raw material for twine rope. This raw material is obtained from other craftsmen who also depend on the availability of coconut fiber and the weather. Calculation. Calculation of the availability of appropriate and optimal raw materials is needed so that UKM Sergai Connection does not face the problem of excess or shortage of raw material stock. This community service activity aims to help UKM Sergai Connection to find out the amount of supplies of the main raw materials for turus production. The amount of production inventory is carried out through a quantitative descriptive approach. The data obtained comes from UKM Sergai Connection. Furthermore, the data were analyzed using the reorder point method. The results of the calculations showed that UKM Sergai Connection had to reorder 12 rolls of rope per day
