Abstract

This research aims to find out the errors occur in students’ translation product, this is a qualitative research and the object of the research is 4th- semester college students. The data was analyzed by using an error category by ATA’s standardized error making. The analysis reveals that the most errors occured on students’ translation are literalness: 258 occurrences (30,71%), misunderstanding: 221 occurrences (26,31%), terminology: 111 occurrences (13,21%), the last omission: 88 occurrences (10,48%), faithfulness: 73 occurrences (8,69%), then the next is grammar: 40 occurrences (4,76%), cohesion: 38 occurrences (4,52%) and the last is syntax: 11 occurrences (1,31%). Based on the research result it can be concluded that students’ knowledge of translation techniques is very limited, that caused errors in translating the text. In translating process, they must master translation techniques to translate certain text. This research will probably give some literature about the errors made by students, so it can be used by the teacher of translation material to give more lesson of translation techniques and give them more exercise in translating certain text. Then for the students, this research can be used as guidance to be more aware of errors that occur in translation process, for another researcher should conduct other research with another point of view.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis pengaruh job satisfaction, transformational leadership terhadap work ethics dan organization commitment. Secara khusus, penelitian ini akan melihat pengaruh efek mediasi dari work ethics terhadap hubungan antara job satisfaction dan organization commitment dan hubungan antara transformational leadership terhadap organization commitment. Sebanyak 131 data sampel diambil dan diolah menggunakan metoda statistika kuantitatif dan dan partial least square regression. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan bahwa job satisfaction berpengaruh secara langsung dan signifikan terhadap organizational commitment. Demikian juga dengan transformational leadership berpengaruh secara langsung dan signifikan terhadap organizational commitment. Work Ethics tidak menjadi faktor mediasi yang mempengaruhi hubungan antara job satisfaction dan organization commitment. Demikian juga work ethics tidak menjadi faktor mediasi bagi hubungan transformational leadership dalam mempengaruhi organization commitment. Work ethics tidak berpengaruh secara significant terhadap organization commitment. Hasil ini menunjukan bahwa management dapat menerapkan secara langsung indikator-indikator job satisfaction dan transformational leadership untuk memperoleh organizational commitment yang tinggi tanpa perlu dimediasi oleh faktor work ethics.

Abstract

Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pendampingan dan pelatihan terhadap semua banom NU di Desa Purbowangi melalui pendekatan ABCD. Kegiatan ini berlangsung selama program KKN IAINU Kebumen pada bulan Juli-Agustus 2023 di Desa Purbowangi Kecamatan Buayan. Pelatihan dilaksanakan pada tanggal 24 Agustus 2023 di Balai Desa Purbowangi  yang dihadiri oleh anggota banom NU Desa Purbowangi dan pelaku UMKM yang ditindaklanjuti sampai peserta mendapatkan sertifikasi halal. Kegiatan ini menggunakan pendekatan Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) yang memfokuskan kepada pemanfaat asset dan potensi dari UMKM yang dimiliki oleh banom NU Desa Purbowangi. Hasil dari pelatihan ini adalah adanya sikap antusias peserta mengikuti pelatihan ini seperti peserta antusias untuk mengikuti pelatihan membuat website sampai dapat bergabung dengan website usaha, mendaftar di market place dan berani mempromosikan produknya di media sosial. Kegitan ini juga memberikan memberikan pemahaman dan kemampuan bagi pelaku usaha mikro agar dapat menyusun strategi usaha yang tepat dan memaksimalkan penggunaan teknologi digital serta memahami sertifikasi halal yang baik bagi usahanya.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the faults that students' translations contain. The fourth semester of the English Education Study Program at Universitas Peradaban is the subject of this qualitative investigation. The data is examined using a standardized error category by the ATA. According to the analysis, the most common mistakes in student translations were literalness (258; 30.71%), misunderstanding (221; 26.31%), terminology (111; 13.21%), omission (88; 10.48%), faithfulness (73; 8.69%), grammar (40; 4.76%), cohesion (38; 4,52%), and syntax (11; 1.31%). Based on the findings of the study, it is possible to conclude that students' knowledge of translation processes is relatively restricted, resulting in some errors in translating the text. Abstract

Homonyms are part of linguistics that describe words, phrase, or sentences that are like other expressions but do not have the same meaning. The purpose of this study is to analysis homonyms in the script movie Percy Jackson the Olympians the Lightning Thief by Chris Columbus. The source of the data is the movie scripts Percy Jackson the Olympians the Lightning Thief by Chris Columbus. To collect the data, the writers use Simak Bebas Libat Cakap (SBLC) method. Ghoy classifies categories of homonyms into three aspects, namely Same Category and Same Spelling, Same Category but Different Spelling, and Different Category but Same Spelling (Ghoy et al., 2022; Saeed, 2003) The writer uses IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) to analyse these words. In this study, the writer analyses the data descriptive qualitative. The script movie contains three categories in each aspect, namely in the Same Category and Same Spelling that are homograph, in the Same Category but Different Spelling that are homophones, and in Different Categories but Same Spelling that are heteronym. The results of the writer analyse about the homonyms word. This analysis can add to the list of new vocabulary because homonyms are one of the unique and interesting words. Abstract

The students of Senior High School still make many errors in writing past tense forms in irregular verb changes, especially in creating narrative texts. This study aimed to describe the errors in writing past tense irregular verbs in writing narrative texts made by students of SMA BU NU Bumiayu. In this study, the writer used descriptive qualitative as the research design. The data collection technique used writing test and documentation. The data analysis technique used three steps namely data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results of this study show that students made 35 errors in writing the past tense of the second type irregular verb out of 58 irregular verbs found. Irregular verbs of the second type are verbs whose first form is different from the second and third forms (V1 ≠ V2 = V3). In addition, there were 30 errors out of 63 irregular verbs of the third type found. The third type of irregular verb is a verb whose first form is different from the second and third forms (V1 ≠ V2 = V3). Most students wrote present tense verbs in sentences that should indicate the past tense. In the results found, more students used the third type of irregular verb than the second type. Abstract

Translation from English to Indonesian in The Things You Can See Only When You Slown Down book by using Newmark theory is an alternative method for accessing information from English text translates into Indonesian. The writer uses V diagram as the approach to analysis translation. This study aims to find out the types and the most dominant translation method found in The Things You Can See Only When You Slow Down book written by Haemin Sunim from English and translated to Indonesian by Daniel Santosa. This study uses descriptive qualitative research to analyse methods of translation from Newmark theory with eight types. The writer analysed with purposive document sampling and count the data then present the findings of this study. The writer finds 1.688 data. Source language (SL) emphasis, finds 13 words for word translation, 330 of literal translation, 324 faithful translation, 208 semantic translation. Meanwhile, target language (TL) emphasis, finds 35 adaptation translation, 97 free translation, 37 idiomatic translation, and 644 communicative translations. Abstract

This research investigates the use of VOA sites to enhance students’ listening skills, addressing the common problem of students struggling to improve their listening comprehension. VOA sites offer authentic audio and video materials that can make listening practice more engaging and effective. The aims of this study are to determine whether using VOA sites can significantly improve students’ listening skills and to assess students’ responses to this method. The research employs an experimental design, collecting data through pre-test and post-test, as well as questionnaires. The data analysis shows that the use of VOA sites significantly improves students’ listening skills, as evidenced by the substantial increase in post-test scores in the experimental class compared to the control class. The paired sample t-test revealed a significant improvement in students’ listening performance after treatment (Sig. < 0.001), and the independent sample t-test confirmed that the experimental group outperformed the control group (Sig. < 0.001). This result means that the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted.
