Abstract

Sandy soil, low productivity, poor crop management, and limited marketing opportunities are the main challenges faced by soybean farmers in Jenetaesa Village, Maros Regency. The Langkasa and Langkasa Baru farmer groups collaborated with the team from Paulus Christian University of Indonesia to address these issues through a community service program. The program aimed to empower farmers by introducing sustainable soybean cultivation practices and innovations to support food diversification and better use of rainfed land during the dry season. The methods included socialization, practical training, field demonstrations, and ongoing mentoring. Farmers learned composting techniques using soybean waste, operating compost shredders and soybean threshers, the benefits of superior seeds, proper planting timing, and basic digital marketing to reach wider markets. The results showed increased farmer knowledge and skills in managing sandy soil, reducing post-harvest losses, and applying sustainable practices. Farmers began using compost to improve soil fertility, adopted mechanical threshers to minimize seed waste, planted superior varieties, and started exploring online marketplaces. The introduction of appropriate low-cost technologies proved effective in more productively utilizing sandy rainfed fields. The program not only enhanced soybean production and marketing but also contributed to household food security and economic improvement for the farming community.

Abstract

Purpose: This study analyzes the effect of work motivation and job satisfaction on employee performance at Class I Immigration Office TPI Makassar. Increasing public demand and dynamic service transformation require continuous improvement in service quality. Research/Methodology: This study used an explanatory quantitative design with a saturated sample of 40 employees. Data were collected using structured Likert-scale questionnaires and analyzed using partial and simultaneous regression tests. Results/findings: Descriptive analysis categorized work motivation, job satisfaction, and performance as “good.” The partial test revealed that work motivation had no significant effect on performance, whereas job satisfaction had a significant positive effect. Simultaneously, motivation and satisfaction significantly influenced employee performance. Conclusions: Job satisfaction exerts a stronger influence than motivation on performance at the Immigration Office. Improvements in the work environment, recognition, and career development are likely to enhance employee outcomes. Limitations: The small sample size from a single government office limits the generalizability of the findings. Broader comparative research across institutions is recommended to strengthen external validity. Contributions: This study adds to the public sector human resource management literature by highlighting the greater impact of job satisfaction over motivation in shaping performance. It offers practical guidance for leaders to prioritize satisfaction-driven strategies to optimize employee performance.

Abstract

Local tax revenue represents a crucial component in strengthening regional fiscal capacity and supporting sustainable regional development. Efforts to optimize tax revenue can be implemented through tax intensification and tax extensification strategies conducted by local governments. This study aims to examine the role of tax intensification and tax extensification in improving local tax revenue at the Regional Revenue Agency of Berau Regency. A quantitative approach was employed using a survey method involving 40 employees of the Regional Revenue Agency who are directly involved in local tax management. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression with the assistance of IBM SPSS version 31.00. The results indicate that tax intensification and tax extensification demonstrate positive and significant relationships with local tax revenue. Partially, tax intensification shows a t-value of 3.991 and tax extensification a t-value of 4.192, both exceeding the t-table value of 2.026 with significance levels below 0.05. Simultaneously, the two variables also demonstrate statistical significance with an F-value of 23.143, which is higher than the F-table value of 4.11. These findings highlight that strengthening tax administration, improving taxpayer compliance, and expanding the tax base contribute to the enhancement of local tax revenue.
