Abstract

Sekip Village is one of the urban villages located near the center of Pekanbaru City that has great potential for the development of the creative economy sector. The methods used in this activity include socialization, training, and mentoring, which are focused on two main aspects: the development of culinary product innovation (taste, packaging, and branding) and the strengthening of basic financial recording using the Lamikro application. The participants of the activity consisted of culinary MSME actors in Sekip Village. The results of the activity indicate an improvement in participants' knowledge and skills in developing more attractive products as well as more structured financial records. Abstract

The research was conducted at one of Pekanbaru’s tourist attractions, Taman Bunga Impian Okura, which served as the study location and research object for tourism development. Tourism development plays a crucial role today in preventing visitor fatigue caused by repetitive offerings. Therefore, destination managers must actively explore development opportunities to encourage repeat visits and create renewed tourist experiences. Pacu Jalur, a water-based traditional rowing festival held in Kuansing Regency, is one example of a cultural tourism attraction featured on the international tourism calendar. Inspired by Pacu Jalur’s success in utilizing cultural uniqueness, Taman Bunga Impian Okura also promotes pacu sampan culture as a potential tourism attraction. In addition to functioning as a recreational paddle sport, this activity supports natural and man-made educational tourism as well as sports tourism. Taman Bunga Impian Okura features a diverse collection of ornamental flowers, numerous handmade creative products, and performances showcasing local arts, culture, and culinary traditions. Its development has contributed to economic revitalization and generated new employment opportunities for the surrounding community. Continuous innovation and diversification of attractions have helped position Taman Bunga Impian Okura as a floral tourism destination in Pekanbaru. Strategically located along the banks of the Siak River, the site offers environmental, cultural, and recreational potential capable of enhancing the visitor experience. Research findings suggest that Taman Bunga Impian Okura, with its riverfront location, is being developed as a sports-based tourism destination to strengthen visitor engagement and increase tourist interest.

Abstract

Socialization of Product Innovation and Financial Literacy for Malay Culinary Businesses among the Community of Kampung Bandar, Senapelan District, Pekanbaru City  Abstract The contribution of MSMEs in the national economy has a significant impact on the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of more than 60% or around IDR 8,573 trillion annually. This community service activity aims to provide information about product innovation and financial literacy for MSME actors in Kampung Bandar, a heritage area in Pekanbaru City, Riau Province. Most SMEs in this area sell regional specialty products, particularly those with Malay flavors. The issue that arises is business competition in the Kampung Bandar area in the F&B sector, which is dominated by various modern culinary offerings. Additionally, the outreach team's observations revealed that most business operators still use non-conventional methods in recording financial statements. This situation sometimes results in profit and loss accounting that is not properly organized. The methods used in this activity include socialization, training, and mentoring focused on two main aspects: culinary product innovation (flavor, packaging, and branding) and strengthening basic financial literacy. The results of the activities showed an increase in participants' knowledge and skills in developing more attractive products and more structured business financial management. Product innovation and financial literacy proved to be an effective combination in increasing product competitiveness and encouraging consumer interest in purchasing Malay culinary products. Going forward, intervention in the form of ongoing assistance from relevant agencies is needed to ensure that MSMEs in Kampung Bandar are adaptive in terms of innovation and financial record-keeping. This is because innovation that is oriented towards the times and structured financial record-keeping methods are basic requirements for encouraging MSMEs to progress.
