Science Activities for the community (IbM) Utilization of Market Vegetables Waste as Alternative Livestock Feed. The potential of many resources in rural areas in Jember Regency is a market waste disposal site in the form of vegetables. If this can be utilized properly it will greatly assist traditional farmers in the fulfillment of goat feed especially in the dry season. The difficulty of renerization feed that can only be fulfilled in the rainy season can be overcome by the manufacture of alternative feed from the waste materials of the vegetable market. The cost of feed in goat breeding activities reaches 60 percent of operational costs, because it must be met every day. This condition will increase if coming dry season. Goat farmers will have difficulty in feeding goat farms managed by Goat Farming Group (KUB) in Karangkedawung Village, Mumbulsari District and Kemuningsari Lor Village, Jenggawah Subdistrict, Jember Regency. This activity aims to assist traditional goat breeders in reducing feed production costs by introducing a touch of technology for processing vegetables and fruits waste as feedstock for making vermentation feed. Method of empowerment activity is participative method, that is involving target group starting from planning, implementation until monitoring and evaluation. The goal to be achieved in this activity is to increase the economic benefits of traditional goat breeders so as to increase the family's economic income. In addition, this empowerment activity is also able to encourage the development and independence of business groups with traditional goat farmers in Jember district.

Abstract

This research examines the phenomenon of fishermen's children dropping out of school in the southern coastal area of Jember Regency, East Java, from the perspective of cultural anthropology. The study aims to uncover the social, economic and cultural factors that influence the high dropout rate among fisher children, as well as its impact on the dynamics of coastal communities. Using ethnographic methods, the study collected data through participant observation, in-depth interviews and document analysis over a period of one year. The main findings show that economic factors, such as poverty and the need to help the family economy, are the dominant causes of school dropout. However, cultural factors such as the community's perception of education, the tradition of fishing from an early age, and the lack of highly educated role models also play a significant role. This study also reveals the impact of dropping out of school on the sustainability of the fishing profession, social mobility, and community adaptation patterns to environmental and economic changes. The results of this study provide new insights into the complexity of education issues in coastal communities and highlight the importance of a holistic approach in formulating education policies that are sensitive to the local socio-cultural context. The implications of this study can serve as a foundation for the development of more effective intervention programmes to increase school participation and retention among fisher children, and promote sustainable development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the internal and external factors that influence students' interest and learning outcomes in Social Studies (IPS) class VIII B at MTS Baitul Hikmah Tempurejo. The background of this study is the low participation of students and learning outcomes that have not reached the minimum standard, which indicates the existence of obstacles in the aspects of interest and motivation to learn. This research uses a qualitative approach with phenomenological methods to explore the subjective experiences of students and teachers. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results show that internal factors such as intrinsic motivation, self-confidence, and perception of the lesson affect students' interest in learning. Meanwhile, external factors such as teacher teaching methods, parental support, and the availability of infrastructure also determine learning success. This research confirms the importance of collaboration between a contextualized pedagogical approach and a supportive learning environment to create more effective social studies learning. The findings provide a practical contribution for teachers and schools in designing learning strategies that can improve students' motivation and overall learning outcomes.

Abstract

This research examines The Government's Policy Support toward the resistance and local wisdom of fishermen on the North Coast of Java. The phenomenon of fishermen's attitudes on the North Coast of Java in facing structural injustice uses an ethnographic approach. The research was conducted over six months in three different locations to explore four key attitudes summarized in local concepts: received (accept with resignation) the policy, gave up (give in) to the impact of the policy, switch (avoid/shift) from the impact of the policy, and angry (against) policies that are not pro-fishermen. Through participatory observation and in-depth interviews with 45 fishermen. The results of the study indicate that the impartial of government policies towards the resistance and local wisdom of fishermen on the North Coast of Java gives rise to injustices faced by fishermen originating from three main factors: impartial government policies, competition with industrial vessels, and exploitative marketing systems. The pattern of fishermen's attitudes moves dynamically from accept to angry, influenced by socio-economic conditions, education levels, and collective experiences. This study contributes to the understanding of everyday resistance in the context of Indonesian coastal communities and provides recommendations for fisheries policy reforms that are more equitable and pro-small-scale fishermen.

Abstract

This study investigates the role of history learning in shaping religious and nationalist values among students at MTs Baitul Hikmah Tempurejo during the 2024/2025 academic year. The background of this research stems from the challenges of globalization and technological development, which have led to the degradation of moral values, weakening of religiosity, and declining sense of nationalism among Indonesian youth. The objective of this study is to describe how history teachers integrate character education into learning processes, identify the religious and nationalist values emphasized, and analyze students’ perceptions of the implementation. The research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive case study design. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, while validity was ensured by triangulation and member checks. The findings reveal that religious values are integrated into history lessons by emphasizing the contributions of Islamic leaders, promoting routine religious practices, and reinforcing moral attitudes in daily school activities. Nationalist values are fostered through lessons on the independence struggle, school ceremonies, commemorations of national days, and extracurricular programs such as scouting. Teachers play a crucial role as role models and facilitators, supported by a school environment that cultivates both religious and national character. However, challenges include students’ limited interest in history subjects, inconsistency in practicing values outside school, and limited use of digital media. To address these issues, teachers implement innovative strategies such as digital media use and interactive methods. Overall, the study concludes that history learning serves not only as knowledge transfer but also as an effective medium for strengthening character education, particularly in developing religiosity and nationalism among students.
