Abstract

Astiko W, Fauzi, M. T., & Muthahanas, I. (2023). Growth response and nutrient uptake of glutinous corn on doses of amelioran plus mycorrhiza in sandy soil. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-11 Tahun 2023, Palembang 21 Oktober 2023. (pp. 33-42).  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).The addition of ameliorant materials containing mycorrhiza to sandy soil can improve the physical, chemical and biological properties of the soil. This can also have an impact on better plant growth response and increased soil fertility. This study aimed to determine the effect of ameliorant plus mycorrhizal doses on the growth response and nutrient uptake of glutinous corn on sandy soil. The experiment was conducted in Moncok Karya, Pejeruk Karya Village, Ampenan District, Mataram City, from May to July 2023. The research used a randomized block design consisting of five treatment, namely D0: control (without ameliorant), D1: dose of ameliorant 5 tons/ha, D2: dose of ameliorant 10 tons/ha, D3: dose of ameliorant 15 tons/ha, and D4: dose of ameliorant 20 tons/ha. The results showed that the treatment dose of 20 tons/ha of ameliorant had a significant effect on increasing the height and number of plant leaves, stover weight per plant, nutrient uptake and mycorrhizal development at 42 days after planting compared to other dose treatments. The best dose of ameliorant that can increase growth response and plant nutrient uptake is 20 tons/ha.

Abstract

Astiko W, Isnaini M, Fauzi, MT., & Muthahanas, I. (2023). Effectiveness of amelioran on sandy soil to increase growth and uptake of NP by sweet corn. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-11 Tahun 2023, Palembang 21 Oktober 2023. (pp. 78-87).  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Sandy soil, which is porous and has a very low water holding capacity, is the main obstacle to increasing soil fertility and the growth of sweet corn plants. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of several types of ameliorants in increasing the growth and uptake of NP nutrients by sweet corn plants in sandy soil. The research was conducted in Moncok Karya, Pejeruk Karya Village, Ampenan District, and Mataram City from May to July 2023. The experiment was arranged using a randomized block design consisting of five ameliorant treatments, namely PO: Control (without ameliorant), PA: rice husk charcoal, PK: compost, PS: cow manure, and PC: a mixture of rice husk charcoal, compost, and cow manure (1:1:1) with a dose of 20 tons/ha. The results showed that the mixture of ameliorant rice husk charcoal, compost, and cow manure had an effect on the height and number of leaves of sweet corn plants at 2, 4, and 6 WAP, stover weight per plant, nutrient uptake, and mycorrhizal development. Application of 20 tons per ha of mixed ameliorant increased plant height, number of leaves, the concentration of available P, and total N in the soil, N and P uptake by plants, the number of spores and root colonization, and the weight of wet and dry stover plants in sandy soil. Amelioran formulation of a mixture of 25% cow manure + 25% compost + 25% rice husk charcoal provides the highest concentration of soil nutrients, plant nutrient uptake, and growth of sweet corn.

Abstract

Astiko W, Isnaini M, Fauzi MT, Muthahanas I.  2022. Growth of several sweet corn varieties added by bioameliorants. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-10 Tahun 2022, Palembang  27 Oktober 2022. pp. 88-96. Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Sweet corn is one of the most popular food commodities in the community. However, production is still relatively low. The study aimed to determine the concentration and uptake of N and P nutrients, the development of mycorrhizae, and the growth of several varieties of sweet corn added with bioameliorants. The experimental design used was a randomized block design consisting of four treatments of sweet corn varieties, namely P1: Bonanza variety, P2: Ganebo variety, P3: Golden Boy variety, and F4: Exotic Pertiwi variety. The variables observed in this study were: (1) soil nutrient concentration variables and plant nutrient uptake (N and P) at 42 days after planting (dap), (2) growth variables included: plant height and number of leaves at 14, 28, and 42, and weight of wet and dry root and shoot at 42 dap, and (3) mycorrhizal population variables included: number of spores and percentage of root infection at 42 dap. Observational data were analyzed using analysis of variance followed by the Tukey’s HSD (Honestly Least Significant Difference) test at a significant level of 5%. The results showed that the Golden Boy variety with 25 t ha-1 bioameliorant made from local raw materials gave the highest plant height, number of leaves, wet and dry biomass weight of roots and shoots. While the concentration of total N nutrients, available soil P, plant N and P nutrient uptake, as well as the number of spores, and the highest percentage of mycorrhizal colonization were obtained in the Bonanza F1.
