Abstract

This article in-depth on the critical challenges faced in the implementation of Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI) as an integrated approach in child health management. The background of the study highlights the complexity of the child health environment, limited infrastructure, and differences in cultural contexts that can affect the effectiveness of IMCI. The research gap is revealed through a lack of in-depth knowledge of all aspects of the challenges faced and a lack of exploration of potential solutions in previous research. This study describes the urgency of research related to the future investment of a nation that is closely related to child health. Presenting past research, this article highlights the knowledge gaps that still need to be filled and the need to optimize child health management strategies. This in-depth approach is considered a novelty of this research, which not only identifies challenges, but also looks for potential solutions to improve the effectiveness of IMCI. The purpose of the study is to identify, analyze, and provide solutions to challenges in IMCI implementation. The benefits of this research include contributing to further understanding of the complexities of IMCI implementation and providing practical guidance and recommendations for the improvement of child health systems. It is hoped that the results of this study can support global efforts in improving children's health through more effective implementation of IMCI.

Abstract

Community participation plays a central role in reducing morbidity and mortality rates for toddlers younger than 5 years old. This article explores the positive impact of community participation on efforts to prevent and overcome health problems under five. The background of the study reflects the need to detail societal contributions in addressing early childhood health challenges. Despite much previous research on infant health, there are still gaps in knowledge in the context of direct involvement and the effectiveness of community participation. Previous research has highlighted the importance of community empowerment in supporting child health programs, but there is still a lack of understanding of how such participation can be integrated more effectively. The novelty of this study lies in the particular focus on the role of community participation in reducing infant morbidity and mortality. The purpose of this study is to provide deep insight into the contribution of society in designing, implementing, and maintaining toddler health initiatives. The results of this study support the urgency of increasing community participation in efforts to prevent disease and improve the health of toddlers. The benefits of this research are expected to provide practical guidance for policy makers, health practitioners, and related parties to optimize community participation to improve early childhood health

Abstract

Background: Antibiotic resistance poses a significant global health challenge, often exacerbated by inappropriate antibiotic use and poor patient adherence to prescribed regimens. Understanding the factors influencing antibiotic knowledge and adherence among outpatients is critical to improving treatment outcomes and mitigating resistance development. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between patients’ knowledge and their adherence to antibiotic use at Puskesmas Gadung Kab. Buol Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted involving 42 outpatient respondents between January and February 2024. Data on sociodemographic characteristics, knowledge of antibiotics, and adherence behavior were collected using structured questionnaires. Descriptive statistics and Spearman’s rho correlation test were applied to analyze the data Result: The findings revealed that a substantial proportion of respondents demonstrated moderate to good knowledge about antibiotics, with a notable association between higher knowledge levels and better adherence to antibiotic regimens. The majority of participants complied with prescribed antibiotic use, particularly those with sufficient understanding of antibiotic resistance and appropriate usage. The study also identified that demographic factors such as age, gender, education, and occupation influenced both knowledge and adherence behaviors. The statistical analysis confirmed a significant positive correlation between knowledge and adherence, underscoring the importance of patient education Conclusion: In conclusion, enhancing patients’ knowledge about antibiotics is essential to improving adherence and combating antibiotic resistance. Healthcare providers should prioritize continuous educational interventions and counseling to reinforce correct antibiotic use among outpatients. Future research with larger samples and diverse settings is recommended to generalize the findings and explore additional factors influencing adherence.

Abstract

Stunting remains a critical public health problem that affects children’s physical growth, cognitive development, and long-term human capital, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. Increasing evidence suggests that stunting is not solely a nutritional issue but a multidimensional condition influenced by family practices and community environments. This study aims to systematically review the role of family and community in preventing stunting among toddlers. A systematic literature review was conducted using ten peer-reviewed articles indexed in the Scopus database. The review followed a structured search, selection, and thematic synthesis process to identify key family- and community-level determinants and interventions associated with stunting prevention. The findings indicate that family-related factors—such as parental education, caregiving practices, household food security, and health-seeking behavior—play a central role in reducing stunting risk. At the community level, supportive health services, nutrition education programs, sanitation infrastructure, and social support networks significantly strengthen family capacity and promote sustainable behavior change. Importantly, the review highlights that integrated family–community approaches are more effective than isolated interventions, as they align household practices with enabling community environments. This study contributes to the literature by reinforcing the importance of multi-level, socially grounded strategies for stunting prevention and provides evidence-based insights for policymakers and practitioners seeking to design holistic and sustainable child nutrition interventions.

Abstract

Maternal and child health remains a major public health concern, where health outcomes are shaped not only by medical and socioeconomic factors but also by sociocultural contexts. This study aims to examine the effect of local wisdom on maternal and child health using a quantitative approach. A total of 150 respondents were surveyed using a structured questionnaire measured on a five-point Likert scale. The data were analyzed using SPSS version 25, including descriptive statistics, validity and reliability tests, and simple linear regression analysis. The results indicate that local wisdom has a positive and statistically significant effect on maternal and child health (β = 0.683, p < 0.001). The coefficient of determination (R² = 0.386) shows that local wisdom explains 38.6% of the variation in maternal and child health outcomes. These findings suggest that culturally embedded values, beliefs, and community practices play an important role in shaping maternal and child health behaviors. Integrating local wisdom into maternal and child health programs can enhance community acceptance, strengthen preventive care, and improve health outcomes. This study provides empirical evidence supporting the inclusion of cultural dimensions in the formulation of maternal and child health policies.

Abstract

The increasing prevalence of social media has transformed health communication practices and created new opportunities for HIV/AIDS prevention. This study aims to systematically examine the role of social media in preventing HIV/AIDS by synthesizing findings from existing academic literature. A systematic literature review approach was employed, analyzing fifteen peer-reviewed studies retrieved from Google Scholar that focus on the use of social media platforms in HIV/AIDS prevention efforts. The review findings indicate that social media plays a significant role in enhancing HIV/AIDS awareness and knowledge, shaping positive attitudes toward prevention, encouraging HIV testing and safer sexual behaviors, and reducing stigma among diverse populations, particularly adolescents, young adults, and key risk groups. Interactive content, peer-to-peer communication, and platform-specific engagement strategies were identified as critical factors in intervention effectiveness. However, the review also reveals persistent challenges, including misinformation, digital inequality, ethical concerns related to privacy, and limited evidence of long-term behavioral impact. Overall, the study concludes that social media serves as an effective complementary tool for HIV/AIDS prevention when integrated with broader public health strategies, while emphasizing the need for more rigorous and longitudinal research to strengthen evidence-based digital health interventions.
