Abstract

Blood type is important for human life and is very useful in medical matters such as determining the blood type of parents and children, the success of medical procedures such as blood transfusions and organ transplants. Transfusion of blood from an incompatible group causes an immunological transfusion reaction resulting in hemolytic anemia, kidney failure, shock and death. Most of the students of Al-Fityan School Aceh's tahfiz program do not know their blood type. Apart from that, the students of the Al-Fityan School Aceh tahfiz program have minimal knowledge about blood types. The aim of this community service is to increase students' knowledge about the urgency of checking blood types and its application in everyday life. The target of this community service is the female students of the Al-Fityan School Aceh tahfiz program, consisting of 47 people. The implementation begins with education first and continues with a blood type check. Examination Results: The blood group of the female students of Tahfis Al- Fityan School Aceh is blood group O, namely 70% (31 people), while blood groups A and B are 12.8% (6 people) respectively and the smallest blood group frequency is blood group AB, namely 8.5% (4 people).

Abstract

This study investigates the use of traditional medicine by patients with chronic diseases to understand the factors that influence this practice. The aim of the study was to identify patterns of traditional medicine use, perceived effectiveness, and factors that influence usage decisions. The method used was in-depth interviews with 10 participants representing a variety of ages, genders, and socio-economic backgrounds. The results showed that cultural beliefs, social environmental influences, and perceived effectiveness of traditional medicine play an important role in usage decisions. The implication of this study is the need for an integrated approach in chronic disease management, which incorporates the appropriate use of traditional medicine with conventional medical practices to improve the quality of treatment.

Abstract

Blood glucose, a form of sugar present in the bloodstream, is derived from dietary carbohydrates and stored as glycogen in the liver and skeletal muscles. Blood glucose levels of 140 mg/dL in random testing or 120 mg/dL in fasting tests the indication of diabetes mellitus (DM). According to the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2021, DM is among the top ten leading causes of death globally. Blood glucose levels can be measured using various methods, including chemistry analyzers, glucometers, and spectrophotometers. This study aims to evaluate the differences in blood glucose levels obtained using these three analytical methods. The study aims to compare blood glucose levels measured using a chemistry analyzer, glucometer, and spectrophotometer. A descriptive research method was applied, with samples collected through random sampling, comprising 25 normal and 25 elevated blood glucose level samples. The majority of participants were women (76.0 %, n=38), while men represented 24.0 % (n=12), with an average participant age of 57.8 years. In the normal group, blood glucose levels measured using the chemistry analyzer ranged from 72 mg/dL to 116 mg/dL, with a mean of 90.52 mg/dL. Measurements using the glucometer showed a range of 75 mg/dL to 129 mg/dL, with a mean of 95.88 mg/dL, while the spectrophotometer results ranged from 74 mg/dL to 120 mg/dL, with a mean of 93.00 mg/dL. In the high blood glucose group, measurements using the chemistry analyzer ranged from 195 mg/dL to 342 mg/dL, with a mean value of 272.04 mg/dL. Measurements with the glucometer ranged from 200 mg/dL to 358 mg/dL, with a mean value of 278.44 mg/dL, while the spectrophotometer results ranged from 199 mg/dL to 354 mg/dL, with a mean value of 275.48 mg/dL. Based on the results, the chemistry analyzer demonstrated higher precision and accuracy in measuring blood glucose levels compared to the glucometer and spectrophotometer.

Abstract

Hospital waste is all waste produced by hospital activities and other supporting activities. Considering the impacts that may arise, good management efforts are needed including tools and facilities, finances and organizational procedures that are determined with the aim of obtaining hospital conditions that meet environmental health requirements. The research used was observational with a descriptive approach, namely to determine the quality of liquid waste in hospitals in Makassar. This research was conducted from 20 to 27 June 2021 at the Hospital in Makassar. The population is liquid waste in hospitals in Makassar in 2021. The sample in this study is hospital effluent waste in Makassar in 2021. Waste water that is not handled properly will result in negative impacts, especially for health, so it needs good management so that when it is disposed of in A certain area does not cause pollution which is supported by the wastewater treatment plant (IPAL) owned by the hospital itself. It was concluded that the DO levels in the liquid waste produced were at a vulnerable level. The BOD level in liquid waste in the morning is at a moderate level and in the afternoon it is at a heavy level. COD levels in Makassar liquid waste in the morning are at moderate levels and in the afternoon at heavy levels. TSS levels in liquid waste in the morning are at moderate levels and in the afternoon they are at heavy levels. The pH level in liquid waste meets the requirements. TEMPERATURE levels in liquid waste meet the requirements.
