Abstract

Introduction: diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease that requires long-term management involving patients and their families. The role of the family in improving the management of diabetes mellitus patients is very important to achieve good blood sugar control and prevent long-term complications. This study aims at the role of family in improving the management of diabetes mellitus patients. Methods: this research is a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental research design with a non-equivalent control group research design with a sample size of 20 respondents Results: shows that in the intervention group, most family roles have a good category where respondents have family roles are as many as 7 people (70%) and respondents who have poor family roles are as many as 3 people (30%). While in the control group, respondents who had poor family roles were as many as 8 people (80%) and respondents who had good family roles were as many as 2 people (20%). In the final measurement (Post-test) in the intervention group and the control group, p = 0, 028 or p < 0.05 means that there are differences in family roles in both groups in the final measurement (Post-test) Conclusions: the role of the family is very important in improving the management of diabetes mellitus patients. Family support and involvement in assisting patients in living a healthy diet, following the right medication regimen, and maintaining an active lifestyle can help achieve good blood sugar control and prevent long-term complications. Factors such as knowledge of diabetes, emotional support, and ability to manage diabetes-related situations also influence the family's role in the management of this condition. Therefore, education to families about diabetes, the psychological and practical support they provide to patients, as well as their involvement in healthy lifestyle changes are important things to note.

Abstract

Background: Preeclampsia is one of the causes of death in pregnant women. Preeclampsia can cause complications in mothers such as eclampsia (accompanied by seizures), placental abruption, subcapsular hemorrhage, disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC), HELLP syndrome (hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, and low platelet count), retinal detachment, heart failure, shock, and even death. Preeclampsia can also cause intrauterine fetal growth disturbances, affecting birth weight. There are several efforts to lower high blood pressure in pregnant women, namely pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of warm water therapy on blood pressure reduction in pregnant women with preeclampsia. Method: The type of research used in this study is Quantitative, employing a Pre-Experimental Research design with a one group pretest and posttest design. This design uses only one group of subjects or an intervention group. The sample used consisted of 16 respondents diagnosed with pregnancy-induced hypertension. Bivariate test using the Paired Sample T-test, Result: the statistical test shows a p-value = 0.000 < 0.05. It can be concluded that warm water therapy is effective in lowering the blood pressure of pregnant women with preeclampsia. It is hoped that this research can add information about the effectiveness of warm water therapy in lowering blood pressure in pregnant women with preeclampsia.

Abstract

Iron deficiency anemia remains a prevalent health issue among adolescent girls, primarily due to increased iron demands during growth and menstruation. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of katuk leaf pudding (Sauropus androgynus) in improving hemoglobin levels in female adolescents at SMPN 02 Lirung, Talaud Islands Regency. A quasi-experimental design with a Non-Equivalent Control Group was employed, involving 64 participants divided into two groups: an intervention group receiving katuk leaf pudding and a control group receiving pudding without katuk leaves, each consisting of 32 respondents. The intervention was administered daily for seven days, with hemoglobin levels measured before and after treatment using a digital hemoglobinometer. Statistical analysis revealed a significant increase in mean hemoglobin levels in the intervention group, from 10.93 g/dL to 11.94 g/dL, whereas the control group exhibited no meaningful change (from 12.57 g/dL to 12.56 g/dL). A paired sample t-test produced a p-value of 0.001, indicating a statistically significant difference. The study concludes that katuk leaf pudding effectively enhances hemoglobin levels among adolescent girls. It is recommended that natural food-based nutritional interventions like katuk leaf products be adopted more broadly and implemented sustainably to prevent anemia in vulnerable populations.
