Abstract

Background : Uterine involution during the puerperium must go well so efforts are needed to accelerate uterine involution, one of which is consuming sweet potato leaves. Sweet potato leaves have nutrients that can help mothers reduce involution more quickly, and can also increase milk production. An increase in the hormone oxytocin can reduce the height of the uterine fundus. Objective : Knowing the effect of giving sweet potato leaves to reduce uterine involution in postpartum women at the Sifra Langowan maternity clinic. Methods : This research usesQuasi-experimental design with a plan one-group pretest – posttest design. The sample of this research was postpartum mothers from the 1st to the 7th day as many as 15 respondents, determined by means purposive sampling. Data was collected using an observation sheet which contained a number of indicators for evaluating decreased uterine involution in writing which were filled in before and after the intervention was given. Abstract

Introduction: Home care is a form of health care that is increasingly needed as the need for long-term care increases and a community-based approach to service. In this context, nurses are important as the main implementers of services in direct contact with patients. However, regulations that regulate home care practices often affect nurses' movement space and professional autonomy in providing optimal services. This study aims to analyze the impact of home care regulations on the independent role of nurses in society. Research Methodology: The method used is qualitative, using literature studies and semi-structured interviews with active nurses in home care practice. Results: Results show that restrictive and unclear regulations limit independent clinical decision-making, create legal uncertainty, and reduce public trust in the professional capacity of nurses. Conversely, supportive regulations can strengthen nurses' independent roles, improve service efficiency, and encourage collaboration between health teams. Conclusion: a balanced policy is needed between legal oversight and empowerment of nurses so that their role in the public health system can be optimized.

Abstract

Background: Postpartum mothers in Indonesia are encountering significant challenges with breastfeeding, resulting in a high rate of early discontinuation due to low milk production. However, the combined therapy of oxytocin massage for mothers and baby massage has demonstrated substantial effectiveness in increasing breast milk production. This innovative approach holds significant promise for preventing stunting in newborns and aligns with the government's efforts to reduce stunting rates. This study aims to combine therapy for mothers and babies, especially oxytocin massage stimulation, together with infant massage, to increase breast milk production. Methods: The study was designed as a quasi-experimental study and included two groups of participants: the experimental group and the control group. The study involved a total of 48 participants, with 24 in each group, and used blocked randomization as the sampling technique. The study measured the increase in breast milk production and conducted an analysis using the Independent sample t-test. Results showed that the experimental group given oxytocin massage with baby massage obtained significant results on increasing breast milk production compared to the control group, with an average difference of 9,917 cc. The independent t-test produced a p-value of 0.001; these results prove that there is a significant difference between the experimental group and the control group. Oxytocin is crucial for transferring breast milk from mother to baby, and baby massage increases the frequency of breastfeeding, stimulating the hormone prolactin to produce breast milk. This intervention can be recommended to postpartum mothers, families as a form of support or to health workers to improve the achievement of exclusive breastfeeding.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a metabolic disorder that develops during pregnancy and increases the risk of maternal and neonatal complications. The global prevalence of GDM ranges from 14% to 16.7% and continues to rise. Awareness among pregnant women regarding GDM risk factors remains low, highlighting the need for promotive and preventive efforts through screening and health education. To conduct blood glucose and body mass index (BMI) screening to detect early GDM risk and to increase pregnant women’s knowledge and awareness of GDM prevention. The activity was conducted on June 23, 2025, in Likupang Satu Village, Likupang Timur District, North Minahasa Regency. Methods included body weight and height measurement, blood glucose testing, and health education on healthy pregnancy. Evaluation was performed using pre-test and post-test questionnaires. A total of 27% of participants had a history of diabetes, 53% were at risk of GDM based on MUAC, and 87% were at risk of obesity based on BMI. Screening revealed 13% at risk of GDM. Knowledge improved significantly, with the “good” category increasing from 7% to 53% and mean scores rising from 58 to 70. Screening and education on GDM effectively improved pregnant women’s knowledge and awareness of prevention, supporting early detection and risk control during pregnancy. Keywords: Gestational Diabetes Mellitus, Screening, BMI, Education, Healthy Pregnancy.
