Abstract

The objective of this study was to demonstrate an easy way along with a step-by-step process in searching references as well as to show the technique of writing referencing style to make the manuscript fit for publication in journals. The study method was carried out in many steps with using the Google Scholar search engine, included search for articles in a journal, obtaining citations from author, and constructing a reference style. As a practical example, we will look for articles about engineering education with used IJoST, JESTEC, JEET, and IJCSNE journals, and there are several style references such as, APA, MLA, Vancouver, Harvard, Chicago/Turabian, and IEEE style. We identified that Google Scholar may be utilized as a teaching resource and beginner authors who are learning how to create articles.

Abstract

Indonesia has almost 2 years in implementing distance learning to prevent an increase in the transmission of the Corona Virus. With the creation of the Thematic community service program, it is hoped that it can increase student interest in learning and help educators and parents of students to facilitate the implementation of online learning activities. This research was conducted in an elementary school in West Java. At the initial stage, the research was conducted to survey the number of students in grade 6 of the Elementary School. The number of students recorded was 60 students in grade 6. Then we distributed the 60 students with 47.60% (21 male students) and 52.40% (39 female students). Learning and teaching activities at Karanganyar State Elementary School 2 are carried out online. The learning media used are Zoom Meet, WhatsApp group, and Google Form for students. This method is a solution in implementing distance learning with interactive learning media. The results of the research show that the average post-test score of 84.0% is greater than the average pre-test score of 49.03%, so the difference is 1.95%. Therefore, we can increase interest, knowledge, and application in material related to financial literacy. This increase in understanding can be done by continuously teaching and giving examples of financial literacy to students through fun media, such as animated videos containing financial literacy.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to show whether WhatsApp groups can be one of the media for learning mixed arithmetic operations mathematics during the online learning process. This study uses a quantitative approach to the pre-experimental design method (one group pretest-posttest). The research subjects were 16 students of class VI Islamic elementary school. Students' knowledge of mixed arithmetic operations, when given a pretest, was 55.6%. After learning mixed arithmetic operations using the WhatsApp group, the post-test results increased to 57.5%. Based on these results, there was an increase in students' knowledge of 1.9%. This is because students understand learning using WhatsApp groups. So learning to use WhatsApp groups can slightly increase knowledge in mixed arithmetic operations.

Abstract

The competence of students in Indonesia is still in a low rank based on their problem-solving and reasoning abilities. The pandemic condition forces distance learning to hinder the improvement of students' abilities if there is no innovation in learning that can help students to always be motivated in learning. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using TikTok as a learning media innovation to train computational thinking skills, especially in the distance learning process. The research method uses a quantitative approach with the target of 9th-grade junior high school students. The results of the study showed that the post-test average of students was 89.3%, increasing 32.2% from the pre-test results which only reached 57.1%. This shows that short videos uploaded through TikTok can be an effective and innovative learning media.
