Abstract

Knowledge is an important factor for pregnant women to be able to adapt to physiological and psychological changes during pregnancy. Failure to adapt causes several health problems for pregnant women, one of which is bleeding. Bleeding events can be prevented by obediently carrying out antenatal visits. To determine the relationship between respondent’s characteristics and knowledge of signs of bleeding during pregnancy with antenatal visit compliance in third trimester pregnant women. Quantitative research with a cross sectional approach and purposive sampling technique on 30 third trimester pregnant women, in October-November 2020. Using a questionnaire and data analysis using Chi-Square. Characteristics of respondents aged 20-35 years (93.3%), primigravida (56.7%), secondary education (60%), less knowledgeable (60%), obedient to antenatal visits (76.7%). The p-value=1,000. There is no significant relationship between the knowledge of third trimester pregnant women about signs of bleeding during pregnancy and compliance with antenatal visits at the Cipayung District Health Center, East Jakarta. Nurses have a duty to provide counseling regarding the compliance of third trimester pregnant women in antenatal visits to prevent the risk of bleeding.

Abstract

Abstract

Physiological and psychological changes during pregnancy can run normally if the mother is able to adapt to these changes. If there is a failure to adapt or there are other factors that affect the health of the mother during pregnancy, complications will arise. One of the abnormal complications during pregnancy is bleeding. To determine the relationship between the knowledge of pregnant women in the third trimester of signs of bleeding during pregnancy with compliance with antenatal visits at the Cipayung District Health Center, East Jakarta. Using a quantitative study with a cross sectional approach to 30 third trimester pregnant women with a purposive sampling technique. Data analysis using Chi-Square. The study was conducted in October-November 2020. The research instrument used a questionnaire made by the researcher about signs of bleeding during pregnancy. The results showed that the characteristics of the respondents were mostly aged 20-35 years (93.3%), primigravida (56.7%), secondary education (60%), less knowledgeable (60%), and obedient to antenatal visits (76.7%). The results of the bivariate analysis obtained p-value=1,000. There is no significant relationship between the knowledge of pregnant women in the third trimester of signs of bleeding during pregnancy and compliance with antenatal visits at the Cipayung District Health Center, East Jakarta. With this research, it is hoped that health workers, especially nursing staff, can provide information on the importance of adherence to antenatal visits to prevent risks for pregnant women, especially related to bleeding.

Abstract

Testing for skin irritation caused by new substances is a critical component of safety evaluation procedures. Pharmaceutical formulations and active ingredients intended for topical application have the potential to cause skin irritation, necessitating thorough safety assessments prior to public distribution. This study aimed to evaluate the primary irritation potential of a purple cabbage extract cream using the patch test method on healthy older adults. The experimental research involved 18 volunteers, who were administered 0.625% purple cabbage extract cream and a placebo preparation without the test substance. The test materials were applied twice daily over a period of 72 hours. Observations were conducted at baseline (0 hours) and at 24, 48, and 72 hours post-application. The degree of skin irritation was then calculated based on the recorded data. The results indicated a primary irritation index of 0.1, suggesting that the purple cabbage extract cream did not cause skin irritation. It can be concluded that the purple cabbage extract cream is safe for skin application in the tested population. Future research should explore the effects of purple cabbage cream on different skin locations, as skin sensitivity can vary across different areas of the body.

Abstract

The postpartum period is a critical phase for mothers, during which the emergence of postpartum blues can significantly affect emotional stability and maternal mental health. Alongside traditional information sources, social media has increasingly become a platform for parenting education. However, its role in influencing maternal psychological well-being remains unclear, particularly within community healthcare settings such as Puskesmas Cipayung in East Jakarta. Objective: This study aimed to examine the relationship between the use of social media as a source of parenting information and the incidence of postpartum blues among mothers attending the Cipayung Sub-district Health Center. Methods: A quantitative, cross-sectional design was employed involving 63 postpartum mothers selected through purposive sampling between March and May 2024. Data were collected using structured questionnaires assessing social media use for parenting information and postpartum blues symptoms. Statistical analysis was conducted using the Chi-square test to determine the association between variables. Results: The findings revealed a significant relationship between the use of social media as a parenting information source and the incidence of postpartum blues (p = 0.001, < 0.05). Mothers who frequently accessed social media for parenting guidance were more likely to experience mild to moderate postpartum blues. The study highlights that social media use for parenting information is significantly associated with the occurrence of postpartum blues. These results underscore the importance of integrating digital literacy and psychosocial support into nursing care to promote maternal mental well-being during the postpartum period.
