Abstract

Acute or chronic inflammatory diseases of the gastric mucosa caused by exogenous and endogenous factors can cause symptoms of dyspepsia, these diseases are clinically visible endoscopically and require histological confirmation. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the incidence of gastritis cases in the world is around 1.8 – 2.1 million of the total population each year, in Southeast Asia it is around 583,635 of the total population each year. Then gastritis is also caused by an imbalance of the aggressive factors HCl, pepsin, and gastric defense factors with the defensive factor, namely mucus bicarbonate. One of the causes of this imbalance of aggressive-defensive factors is the use of NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of administering gastroprotective red onion extract to Rattus Norvegicus induced by mefenamic acid. With a true experimental method, a post test approach with control group. This study used 30 mice which were divided into 5 groups with 2 control groups and 3 treatment groups. Induction of mefenamic acid at a dose of 23.25 mg/head/day/sonde for 10 days. Then proceed with giving red onion extract for 10 days to each group. The research results showed that sample data was p = 0.001 (p<0.05) indicating that red onion extract (Allium Cepa L) had gastroprotective effectiveness in male white rats (Rattus Norvergicus). Research regarding the effectiveness of red onion extract (Alliem cepa L) as gastroprotective against male white rats (Rattus norvegicus) needs to be carried out with other compounds or due to other causal factors.

Abstract

Carrot seed oil, rich in vitamin A, is known as an antioxidant, sun protectant, and anti-aging and skin rejuvenating agent. This research aims to evaluate the formulation and antioxidant potential of carrot seed oil spray. The research method consists of three stages: formulation, physical evaluation, and antioxidant activity test. The organoleptic test results showed color differences in the three formulas. All three formulas have a thick, oily consistency and the distinctive aroma of carrot seed oil. The average pH value of F1 is 7.4, F2 is 7.7, and F3 is 8.0. The viscosity value of F1 is 25.4 cP, F2 is 19.56 cP, and F3 is 31.66 cP. The antioxidant activity test shows that pure carrot seed oil has moderate antioxidant activity with an IC50 value of 240.9772 g/mL. The three carrot seed oil spray formulas showed weak antioxidant activity with IC50 values: F1 269.3943 g/mL, F2 316.1039 g/mL, and F3 442.6015 g/mL. Based on research, it can be concluded that pure carrot seed oil has moderate antioxidant activity, while the three carrot seed oil spray formulas have weak antioxidant activity.

Abstract

Abstract

BackgroundHyperuricemia is an increase in uric acid levels caused by increased uric acid metabolism (overproduction), decreased uric acid excretion through urine (underexcretion), or a combination of both. In Indonesia, the average age of occurrence is younger compared to Western countries, with approximately 32% of hyperuricemia cases occurring under the age of 34. The long-term and excessive use of medication can lead to toxic side effects. Previous studies have indicated that certain plants have effects in lowering uric acid levels, such as shallots (Allium ascalonicum L.) and red ginger (Zingiber officinale var. rubrum). Objective :To analyze the effectiveness of the combined extract of Allium ascalonicum L. and Zingiber officinale var. rubrum in reducing uric acid levels in male white rats induced with potassium oxonate. Method : An experimental study using a Pre-Post Test Control Group Design with a combination of shallot and red ginger extracts. The samples were divided into five groups. Result : Based on the One-Way ANOVA test conducted before and after the treatment, a p-value of <0.05 was obtained, indicating that the combination of shallot and red ginger extracts was effective in reducing uric acid levels in hyperuricemic rats. The combination of 450 mg red ginger extract and 150 mg shallot extract showed the most effective and significant reduction in uric acid levels. Conclusion : The combination of shallot and red ginger extracts is effective in reducing uric acid levels in hyperuricemic rats. Keywords : hyperuricemia, red ginger, shallots, uric acid levels
