Abstract

Plectranthus amboinicus (Lour.) is a perennial plant belonging to the family of Lamiaceae which have been widely used in traditional herbal medicine. In the present study, the extracts of the leaves of P. amboinicus that was extracted by different solvents were evaluated for their antioxidant and antibacterial properties. The fresh leaves of the plant were extracted using subsequent methanol, n-hexane and dichloromethane. The antioxidant activity was determined by DPPH free radical scavenging assay and the antimicrobial activity was tested against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus by agar well diffusion assay. The results of antioxidant activity test showed that dichloromethane extract of the leaves had the highest antioxidant activity among all with  IC50 value of 50.2 μg/mL Methanol and n-hexane extracts were still active in DPPH with IC50 value of 71.3 μg/mL and 205.9 μg/mL, respectively. Furthermore, the dichloromethane and methanol ektracts have shown a promising antibacterial activity in E. coli. The findings indicated that dichloromethane and methanol extracts of the leaves of P. amboinicus were potential further study as herbal medicine as they showed high antioxidant and antibacterial activities.

Abstract

Mangkokan is one of traditional medicinal plants that has many benefits in restoring health, such as preventing hair loss, treating wounds, antibacterial agent, improving blood circulation and as an antioxidant agent. This study aimed to examine the activity of the ethanol extract of the mangkokan leaf (Polyscias scutellarium (Burm.f.) Fosberg) against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. The extraction process was carried out by gradual maceration through three solvents including n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and ethanol. The antibacterial activity test was carried out by agar diffusion method by calculating diameter of the inhibition zone from ethanol extract of mangkokan leaf with four variation concentrations: 20%, 40%, 60%, and 80%. The antibacterial activity of the ethanolic extract of the mangkokan leaf against Escherichia coli resulted in the average diameter od the inhibition zone at the following concentrations: 20% (5,9 mm), 40% (5,2 mm), 60% (5,9 mm), dan 80% (7,03 mm. While antibacterial test against Staphylococcus aures resulted in the average diameter of the inhibition zone at the following concentrations: 20% (9,66 mm), 40% (10,71 mm), 60% (11,27 mm), 80% (12,42 mm).

Abstract

Lipstick is the familiar product for women in difference age. Kind of lipstick that interested now is liquid lipstick. Not only it is cheap but also it can durable on lips. The actually using lipstick have to see of that safety from dangerous content like weight metal that content more than regulation. The objective of this research to know polluted metal content on some liquid lipsticks brand that they don’t registered in BPOM RI. Determine of standard metal on samples used spectrometry atom absorption (SSA) on facet 283.22 nm. The average metal content on sample a was 0.45999 PPM, sample B was 2.96333 ppm, and sample C was 0.62334 ppm. It can conclude that liquid lisptics have polluted on weight metal content but its content still fulfill of BPOM Standard is 20 µg/grs or 20 mgs/L

Abstract

Senyawa yang  memiliki aktivitas antioksidan Antioksidan dapat digunakan menghilangkan, mencegah pembentukan radikal bebas di dalam tubuh. Senyawa yang bersifat sebagai antioksidan  ini bekerja dengan cara menghambat radikal bebas untuk menghentikan reaksi oksidatif molekul-molekul yang tidak stabil di dalam tubuh dan menyerang makromolekul termasuk protein, DNA, dan lipid yang menyebabkan kerusakan pada sel/jaringan. Tanaman Matoa (Pometia pinnata)  merupakan jenis tanaman dari famili Sapindaceae yang telah digunakan oleh masyarakat sebagai obat tradisional. Pada penelitian ini telah dilakukan uji aktivitas antioksidan dan skrining fitokimia dari ekstrak n-heksana, ekstrak etil asetat serta ekstrak etanol daun matoa.  Aktivitas antioksidan diuji menggunakan metode  DPPH radikal bebas. Hasil uji aktivitas antioksidan menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol dari daun matoa memiliki aktivitas yang tinggi dengan IC50  1,403  μg/mL , namun ekstrak etil asetat dan n-heksana juga juga masih dikatakan aktif dalam uji DPPH dengan nilai IC50 masing-masing sebesar 261,07 μg/mL dan 306,49 μg/mL. Pada Pengujian Skrining fitokimia masing-masing ekstrah menunjukan bahwa daun matoa ini mengandung senyawa metabolit sekunder golongan flavonoid, Steroid, Tanin dan Saponin.  Temuan keseluruhan menunjukkan potensi ekstrak etanol dan etil asetat daun  matoa untuk penelitian lanjutan sebagai obat herbal karena hasil menunjukkan aktivitas antioksidan yang baik.

Abstract

Kulit merupakan pelindung tubuh dari paparan polusi lingkungan, terutama kulit wajah yang sering terpapar oleh sinar UV, akibatnya dapat menimbulkan masalah pada kulit seperti keriput, penuaan, jerawat dan pori kulit yang membesar, sehingg merupaka hal yang penting untuk merawat kulit itu sendiri.Lidah buaya dijuluki sebagai medical plant (tanaman obat) atau master healing plant (tanaman penyembuh utama). Lidah buaya berkhasiat sebagai anti inflamasi, anti jamur, anti bakteri dan membantu proses regenerasi sel. Propolis merupakan zat yang dihasilkan oleh lebah untuk melindungi sarangnya dari berbagai ancaman, baik ancaman lingkungan yang tidak menguntungkan ataupun serangan organisme lain.  Senyawa metabolit sekunder  yang terkandung dalam propolis adalah  alkaloid, flavonoid, saponin, steroid dan tanin. Kosmetik wajah dapat diformulasi  dalam berbagai bentuk sediaan, salah satunya dalam bentuk masker  gel. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuat formulas sediaan masker gel ektrak propolis dan lidah buaya dan melakukan uji aktivitas antibakteri terhadap propioni bacterium acne dan aktivitas antioksidan masker gel ekstrak propolis dan lidah buaya.  Dari penelitian yang telah dilakukan, didapatkan hasil   evaluasi sediaan formulasi masker gel ekstrak lidah buaya dan propolis untuk  pengujian organoleptis, homogenitas,  daya sebar, daya lekat dan waktu mengering sudah memenuhi persyaratan standar mutu sediaan masker gel. Untuk uji  pH dan viskositas sediaan masker gel   belum memenuhi persyaratan. Pada uji aktivitas anti bakteri terhadap propioni bacterium acne didapatkan  hasil F 1, F 2 dan F3  memiliki daya hambat 6 mm, 10 mm, 12 mm dan kontrol positif (18 mm). Aktivitas antioksidan masker gel ekstrak propolis dan lidah buaya memiliki % inhibisi F 1, F2  dan F3 adalah 55,28,  79,75 dan F 3 92,43

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has an impact on the health of the entire community as an effort to prevent contracting the Corona virus, it can be done by strengthening the immune system by consuming supplements or concoctions from ingredients such as herbs from turmeric and red ginger rhizomes.Turmeric rhizome (Curcuma domestica val) and red ginger rhizome (Zingiber officinale var roscoe) have many benefits, one of which is to increase the immune system (immunomodulator). This study aims to identify secondary metabolites contained in the infusion of turmeric rhizome and red ginger rhizome. The method used is a color test with specific reagents to determine the content of secondary metabolites qualitatively which includes, alkaloids, flavonoids, triterpenoids/steroids, saponins and tannins. The extraction method used is the infusion method, the results of phytochemical screening tests from turmeric rhizome infusion contain alkaloids, flavonoids, triterpenoids/steroids and tannins. While the phytochemical screening of red ginger rhizome infusion contains flavonoids, tannins, triterpenoids, and saponins.

Abstract

Waste utilization in the era of globalization receives a lack of attention from the community, because lackness of public unawareness. Pineapple peel waste (Ananas comosus) can be produce activated charcoal. This study aims to produce activated charcoal from pineapple peel waste that meets SNI requirements, such as water level, ash level, and iodine absorption ability. This is a quantitative research with two repetitions. The results show that the water and ash level of the charcoal was 0.0054% and 0.0010%, respectively. The iodine absorption ability was measured by titration using 0.1 N sodium thiosulfate solution. The iodine absorption ability was 365.6 mg/g utilizing a 1.2 ml titer. In conclusion, the parameters meet the requirement of SNI that stated the maximum moisture content, ash content, and iodine absorbability in active charcoal, was 15%, 10%, and 750 mg/g, respectively.

Abstract

Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertemakan Kedisiplinan Literasi Kesehatan Dalam Pemakaian Obat Yang Rasional Guna Meningkatkan Kualitas Kesehatan Siswa Pondok Pesantren Darul Qur’an. Pada Pengabdian ini dilakukan dengan memberikan materi tentang kedisiplinan serta pemberian informasi obatsecara komprehensif kepada siswa Pondok Pesanteren Darul Qur’an. Kegiatan ini dilakukan bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan kedisiplinan siswa dalam penggunaan obat, cara mendapatkannya, menyimpan dan membuangnya dengan benar. Hal tersebut adalah upaya bersama antara dosen dan masyarakat dalam rangka mewujudkan kedisiplinan, kepedulian, kesadaran, pemahaman dan keterampilan masyarakat dalam menggunakan obat secara tepat dan benar. Pemberian informasi obat ini sejalan juga dengan program pemerintah yang mencanangkan “Gerakan masyarakat cerdas menggunakan obat” sebagai bagian dari upaya promotif, preventif dan pemberdayaan masyarakat dalam peningkatan penggunaan obat yang rasional. Sasaran kegiatan ini adalah masyarakat yang berada di Pondok Pesantren Darul Qur’an. Pengabdian masyarakat ini dilakukan dengan cara sosialisasi / workshop dengan menggunakan metode ceramah, diskusi dan bimbingan. Metode ceramah dilakukan dengan memberikan materi kedisiplian serta materi Sosialisasi Penggunaan Obat yang rasional dan tepat dengan Metoda DAGUSIBU. Hasil dari pengabdian ini adalah kedisiplinan dan tingkat kesadaran santri pondok pesantren darul qur’an dalam memilah, memakai, mendapatkan serta menyimpan obat untuk meningkat kualitas kesehatan para santri.

Abstract

Sansevieria trifasciata prain, known to the public as the tongue-in-law plant, is one of the medicinal plants in Indonesia. Traditionally, this plant, which originates from the tropical African continent, is often used as an antiseptic and antimicrobial. The efficacy of mother-in-law's tongue in curing various diseases is also thought to be related to the chemical compounds it contains, including the leaves and rhizomes of mother-in-law's tongue contain secondary metabolites of the cardenolin group, besides that the leaves also contain flavonoids, tannins and polyphenols. This study aims to determine the phytochemical content of infusion and ethanol extract of mother-in-law's tongue (Santieviera trifasciata prain). This study used two methods, namely multilevel maceration and infusion. This study aims to determine the phytochemical content of infusion and ethanol extract of mother-in-law's tongue (Santieviera trifasciata prain). The results of the phytochemical screening test from the infusion and ethanol extract of Mother-in-law's tongue (Sanseivieria trifasciata prain) leaves contain different chemical compounds, namely the phytochemical screening on the ethanol extract contains alkoloids, flavonoids, terpenoids and tannins compounds. Meanwhile, the infusion phytochemical screening only contained alkoloids and saponin compounds.

Abstract

Tongue-in-law (Sansevieria trifasciata Plain) is a plant originating from the African continent. This plant is known as an antiseptic. The compounds contained in the tongue-in-law plant that have a role as antiseptics are flavonoids, phenols, and saponins because the active substance compounds contained in the ethanol extract of tongue-in-law can inhibit bacterial growth. This study aims to evaluate the preparation of liquid soap of ethanol extract of tongue-in-law with a concentration of 1%, 3%, and 5%. The method used in this research is a laboratory experiment regarding the evaluation of liquid soap preparations including organoleptic testing, pH, foam height, specific gravity, and free alkali. The test results of liquid soap preparations are determined by the quality requirements of SNI 06-4085-1996. The observation results of pH testing obtained F0 and F1 values did not meet the quality requirements of SNI 06-4085-1996, while F2 and F3 met the quality requirements of SNI 06-4085-1996. Specific gravity test on samples F0, F1, F2, and F3 did not meet the requirements of SNI 06-4085-1996. While the foam height test on F0, F1, F2, and F3 meets the quality requirements of SNI 06-4085-1996. Free alkali testing on liquid soap obtained values of F0, F1, F2, and F3 did not meet the quality requirements of SNI 06-4085-1996.
