Abstract

World Health Organization (WHO) mengeluarkan standar mengenai pertumbuhan anak yang diterapkan diseluruh belahan dunia. Standar tersebut berisi mengenai pentingnya pemberian ASI tanpa tambahan makanan kepada bayi sejak lahir sampai usia 6 bulan. World Health Organization (WHO) menetapkan  target ditahun 2025 sekurang-kurangnya 50% dari jumlah bayi dibawah usia enam bulan diberikan ASI Eksklusif. Kata Kunci: Pijat Oksitosin, ASI Eksklusif, Ibu Hamil, Menyusui  ABSTRACT Breastfeeding is one of the most effective ways to ensure the health and survival of children. The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued standards on child growth that are applied throughout the world. These standards contain the importance of providing breast milk without additional food to babies from birth to 6 months of age. The World Health Organization (WHO) has set a target for 2025 that at least 50% of babies under the age of six months will be given exclusive breastfeeding. However, contrary to the target set by WHO, less than half of babies under the age of 6 months are given exclusive breastfeeding. UNICEF and WHO call on the government and its partners in Indonesia to support all mothers to be able to breastfeed early, exclusively, and continuously (UNICEF, 2022). This study aims to increase the knowledge of pregnant women regarding the smooth flow of breast milk through health education carried out at the Menteng District Health Center on August 6, 2024. This activity was attended by 15 pregnant women who visited the obstetrics polyclinic. The methods used in the counseling included a pretest to measure participants' initial understanding, delivery of materials using PowerPoint media, and a discussion session to answer questions and deepen participants' understanding of the oxytocin massage technique. Oxytocin massage is known to stimulate breast milk production and help mothers in the breastfeeding process. The results of the evaluation after the counseling showed a significant increase in pregnant women's knowledge of the oxytocin massage technique and its benefits for smooth breast milk production. It is hoped that with better knowledge, pregnant women can be more prepared and confident in providing exclusive breastfeeding to their babies, so that they can support optimal health and growth of the child. This study emphasizes the importance of ongoing health counseling to increase awareness and knowledge of pregnant women regarding good breastfeeding practices. Keywords: Oxytocin Massage, Exclusive Breastfeeding, Pregnant Women, Breastfeeding

Abstract

Background: Primary dysmenorrhea is one of the most common gynecological problems experienced by women of reproductive age, characterized by spasmodic cramps and lower abdominal pain without pathological abnormalities. This condition negatively affects academic activities, productivity, and quality of life. Pelvic rocking exercise, a simple movement using a gym ball, has been suggested to improve uterine blood flow, reduce uterine muscle contractions, and stimulate endorphin release to decrease pain intensity. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of pelvic rocking exercise on primary dysmenorrhea among undergraduate midwifery students. Methods: A quasi-experimental study with a one-group pretest–posttest design was conducted involving 18 first-year midwifery students experiencing primary dysmenorrhea, selected using accidental sampling. Pain intensity was measured before and after a 15-minute pelvic rocking exercise session and analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Results: The mean pain intensity before the intervention was 5.77 (moderate category), which decreased to 2.44 (mild category) after the intervention. The Wilcoxon test showed a p-value = 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant reduction in pain intensity. Conclusion: Pelvic rocking exercise was proven effective in reducing primary dysmenorrhea among midwifery students. It can therefore be recommended as a non-pharmacological intervention in managing menstrual pain.
