Abstract

Conflicts between mothers-in-law and daughters-in-law are common phenomena in family dynamics, especially within the context of increasingly diverse and complex contemporary family structures. This study aims to explore the factors influencing conflicts between mothers-in-law and daughters-in-law and how such conflicts can be managed in family relationships today. Using a qualitative approach, this research gathers data through in-depth interviews and observations of families experiencing conflicts in mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationships. The findings show that various factors, such as differences in values and expectations between mothers-in-law and daughters-in-law, gender roles still influenced by traditional norms, as well as social and economic pressures, play a significant role in triggering conflicts. Furthermore, ineffective communication and a lack of understanding of each other’s roles within the family also contribute to exacerbating the situation. The study also found that there are differences in how mothers-in-law and daughters-in-law handle conflicts, depending on their educational background, culture, and age. To address these conflicts, it is important to build open communication and mutual understanding, as well as prioritize empathy among family members. This study suggests the need for a more inclusive and socially sensitive approach in order to create harmonious relationships between mothers-in-law and daughters-in-law, and emphasizes the importance of family education that can help manage intergenerational conflicts in the modern era.

Abstract

This study explores the role of SMP Khadijah Surabaya in shaping the educational landscape of the millennial generation through its ASWAJA Smart School model. With the rapid advancement of technology, the integration of Islamic values with modern educational tools has become a significant challenge for Islamic schools. This research aims to investigate how this integration impacts students’ religious values, academic performance, and technological proficiency.Using a mixed-methods approach, the study combines qualitative data from interviews with teachers, administrators, and students, alongside quantitative analysis of academic performance and technological engagement. The results indicate that the ASWAJA Smart School model at SMP Khadijah not only enhances students’ understanding of Islamic teachings but also significantly improves their digital skills, preparing them for future challenges in a technology-driven world. In conclusion, the research demonstrates that the integration of ASWAJA values with smart school practices fosters a balanced educational environment that nurtures both spiritual and intellectual growth. The study recommends further development of such programs in other Islamic institutions to equip the next generation with both moral integrity and technological competence.

Abstract

This study addresses the limited understanding of how Islamic schools strategically apply Total Quality Management (TQM) principles in character education programs. Specifically, this research investigates the implementation of five core TQM principles: involvement of people, customer focus, process approach, continuous improvement, and human resource management in managing flagship character development initiatives at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah QITA. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through semi-structured interviews with the principal and teachers, classroom observations, and document analyses of program implementation records. Findings indicate that Madrasah Ibtidaiyah QITA effectively integrates TQM principles through structured daily routines, strong collaboration between teachers and parents, systematic semester-based evaluations, and targeted professional development for educators. The structured implementation of these principles resulted in improved consistency in student character development activities and enhanced program sustainability. This study contributes to existing research by presenting a practical TQM-based model for systematically embedding character education into school culture, which is particularly valuable for Islamic educational institutions. The implementation of TQM principles strengthens the quality and consistency of character education in the madrasah, enhances stakeholder collaboration, and systematically promotes program sustainability. This model can be a reference for other Islamic educational institutions to integrate quality management into effective and sustainable student character development.

Abstract

The integration of digital technologies into character education presents both opportunities and challenges, particularly in Islamic educational institutions where moral and religious values must be preserved alongside technological advancement. This qualitative comparative case study investigates how SMP Khadijah and SMP Muhammadiyah 4 Pucang implement digital-based character education. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis involving school leaders, teachers, and students. The findings reveal that SMP Khadijah adopts a structured approach through its 4S Program by utilizing multimedia tools to promote values such as politeness, discipline, and respect. In contrast, SMP Muhammadiyah 4 applies a project-based learning model via its proprietary E-Learning Muhammadiyah (ELMO) platform, encouraging students to produce digital content that reflects values like honesty and tolerance. Both schools face shared challenges, including inconsistent teacher proficiency with digital tools, distractions from non-educational content, and digital literacy gaps among students. Thus, the hybrid model, such as combining teacher-guided structure with student-centered projects it can may offer an effective strategy for embedding character education in digital environments.

Abstract

This study focuses on the Islamic parenting model as a strategy for character formation among students at Nurul Jadid Islamic Boarding School, aiming to reveal how the habituation of worship, the internalization of the santri trilogy, and social regulation contribute to shaping discipline, responsibility, and moral awareness amidst the challenges of the digital era. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study method, conducted at Nurul Jadid Islamic Boarding School, KH. Zaini Mun’im Street, Karanganyar, Paiton, Probolinggo, East Java, in August 2025. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with administrators, teachers, and students, complemented by field observations and documentation, and analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing techniques. The findings indicate that the Islamic parenting model functions not only as a set of rules but also as an integral strategy that fosters spiritual discipline, social solidarity, and students’ self-control. The santri trilogy proved to be a foundational value that strengthens character development through habituation and role modeling, while the regulation of gadget use serves as an adaptive solution to the challenges of digitalization. This study highlights that Islamic Boarding School serve as effective social laboratories in nurturing the moral consciousness of younger generations. Krapyak-U as a form of implementing digital boarding school administration is expected to become a platform for facing certain challenges, such as data security and information integrity, lack of technology accessibility for certain users, and decreased interpersonal interaction between administrators and students. Therefore, Islamic boarding school managers need to carefully consider the benefits and challenges of implementing digital Islamic boarding school administration, and choose a platform that suits the needs and capabilities of the Islamic boarding school. Through the use of this information technology, Islamic boarding schools can facilitate various administrative processes, such as registration of new students, payment of tuition fees, financial management, class management, monitoring the progress of students, etc. As for Krapyak-U, it was raised at the time of COVID-19, this made digital boarding school administration even more relevant and important. With social restrictions and restrictions on movement, information technology can be an alternative to maintain connectivity between administrators, students and other stakeholders. In addition, the use of information technology can also help all elements of the Islamic boarding school to continue learning and interacting even though they are not in the physical environment of the pesantren.
