Abstract

ARI is a substantial cause of morbidity and mortality in children especially under 5 years of age worldwide. Each year more than 12 million ARIs are registered in hospitals. Recurrence is considered if respiratory tract infection with ≥ 3 episodes or respiratory tract disease or more than 15 days of symptoms in the last 3 months. Objective to determine the relationship of parental role in ARI prevention with ARI recurrence in toddlers in Deli Serdang Regency. The research design used was descriptive correlation research using a cross sectional study approach. The samples taken in this study were parents who had children under five (aged 12-59 months) who had suffered from ARI in Deli Serdang Regency who met the inclusion criteria, with a total of 208 respondents. The results of the study found that the role of parents in the prevention of ARI in Deli Serdang Regency is mostly good as much as 81.7%, the recurrence of ARI in toddlers is more experiencing no recurrence, namely 66.8%. The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between the role of parents and the recurrence of ARI in toddlers in Deli Serdang Regency with a p value of 0.00.

Abstract

Stunting is a growth disorder in toddlers who do not get enough nutritional intake so that children do not grow according to their age (Amania et al., 2022). Stunting toddlers are chronic nutritional problems caused by many factors such as socio-economic conditions, maternal nutrition during pregnancy, illness in babies and lack of nutritional intake in babies. This Community Service is located in Rugemuk Village, Pantai Labu District, Deli Serdang Regency. The community invited to this activity according to the title of the activity are housewives, young women and men in Rugemuk Village with a total of 20 people. The method chosen is counseling and brainstorming, so that the community in Rugemuk Village, Pantai Labu District, Deli Serdang Regency is healthy, there are no more children with stunting, children grow and develop according to their age. This activity is divided into three stages, namely preparation, implementation, and monitoring stages. The stages that will be implemented are the preparation stage, the Activity Implementation stage and the Evaluation Stage. The implementation of the counseling went effectively.

Abstract

Students are a vulnerable age group with academic responsibilities, which puts them at risk of sleep problems. Student sleep problems are associated with various challenges such as high academic pressure, social obligations, social media distractions, responsibilities, and varied schedules. Students have poor sleep quality due to personal and environmental factors. Students extensively use technology in the learning process for communication. Videos enhance the learning process and yield better learning outcomes. The use of educational videos also increases student engagement and participation in understanding topics more effectively and enhances interest in the learning process. Therefore, sleep hygiene education through videos and online sleep diaries will be highly beneficial in improving students’ sleep quality. Similar research has not yet been conducted at STIKes Binalita Sudama Medan. The aim was identify the impact of educational videos on sleep hygiene and online sleep diaries on improving students’ sleep quality. This study employed a quasi-experimental design with a control group, using purposive sampling on 15 respondents in the intervention group and 15 respondents in the control group. The measurement tool used was the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index questionnaire. Statistical analysis was conducted using a t-test. The study showed educational videos on sleep hygiene and online sleep diaries significantly influenced the improvement of sleep quality among students at STIKes Binalita Sudama. Implementing educational videos for students experiencing sleep issues and evaluating sleep problems after implementing sleep hygiene education and online sleep diaries can improve students’ sleep quality.
