Abstract

Background: Pregnancy is a very important period, the state of the mother and fetus are related to one another. While pregnant women are often found to have iron deficiency anemia. One of the efforts to overcome the problem of anemia in pregnant women is by giving iron supplements. However, in Riau Province pregnant women who received FE3 decreased, namely in 2018 as much as 79% decreased to 65% in 2019. Therefore, an educational method is needed to increase knowledge, and adherence to taking iron supplements, and hemoglobin (Hb) levels in pregnant women. Objectives: To increase knowledge and adherence of taking iron supplements and hemoglobin (Hb) levels in pregnant women. Methods: This study is a pre-experimental study with one group pretest and post-test to evaluate the effect of nutrition education with video media on knowledge, adherence to taking iron supplements, and Hb levels in late-trimester pregnant women. The educational videos include material on the importance of taking iron supplements, how to consume them, and balanced nutrition for pregnant women. Result: There is a statistically significant difference between the knowledge and the adherence of pregnant women taking iron supplements before and after treatment or intervention with a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05). Changes in Hb levels before and after treatment or intervention in the form of Educational Video for Iron Supplements (TTD) and Nutrition for Pregnant Women did not show a statistically significant difference with a significance value of 0.085 (> 0.05).Conclusion: Educational videos on iron supplements and nutrition for Pregnant Women affect knowledge and adherence of pregnant women taking iron supplements.

Abstract

Introduction: Malnutrition in early life can impact later life. In Indonesia, the determinant cause of malnutrition is inadequate complementary feeding. Lack of knowledge, misguided beliefs, and food taboos are also factors that determine complementary feeding. For this reason, the community needs to be given education about nutrition and health behavior through appropriate IEC. Objectives of the study: To determine the difference in knowledge, attitude, and behavior of mothers in the practice of breastfeeding using Educational Video. Methods: This study is a pre-experimental study with one group pretest and post-test. The study was conducted from January to December 2023 in Pekanbaru City. Results/findings: The results of the Wilcoxon test showed that there was a significant difference between the knowledge variables before and after the provision of educational videos with a value of p = 0.000 (p <0.05) and there was a significant difference between the attitude variables before and after the provision of educational videos with a value of p = 0.000 (p <0.05). but there was no significant difference between the behavior variables before and after the provision of educational videos with a value of p = 0.209 (p>0.05). Conclusion: Education with video media in mothers who have children aged 6-24 months can improve knowledge and attitudes, but there is no difference in maternal behavior in providing complementary food.

Abstract

Makanan yang baik dan sehat haruslah memenuhi syarat kesehatan yang merupakan salah satu upaya untuk mencapai tingkat kesehatan masyarakat yang optimal, sehingga perlu mendapatkan perhatian dari segi nilai gizi, segi kemurnian, maupun dari segi kebersihan. Sebab meskipun nilai gizi dan kemurnian baik namun kebersihan lingkungan tidak diawasi dan dipelihara, maka makanan tersebut dapat menimbulkan penyakit akibat dari kontaminasi. Berdasarkan hal tersebut maka dapat dikatakan pula bahwa keamanan pangan penting untuk diperhatikan dalam pengelolaan atau pengolahan makanan. Pengolahan makanan yang baik yakni dengan mencegah terjadinya kerusakankerusakan makanan sebagai akibat cara pengolahan yang salah dan mengikuti kaidah atau prinsip-prinsip sanitasi dan higiene yang baik atau disebut GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice). Tujuan umum dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah untuk mensosialisasikan cara pengolahan pangan yang baik untuk rumah tangga. Pengabdian masyarakat ini dilakukan dari bulan Februari 2022 s/d Juli 2022 bertempat di RT/RW 03/24 Kelurahan Sialang Munggu Kecamatan Tuah Madani dengan metode sosialisasi dan pendampingan praktik pada responden. Hasil pengabdian masyarakat menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan terhadap cara pengolahan pangan yang baik untuk rumah tangga oleh ibu-ibu rumah tangga RT/RW 03/24 Kelurahan Sialang Munggu. Pengetahuan responden sebelum diberikan edukasi kategori baik adalah 60%, meningkat menjadi 75% setelah diberikan sosialisasi dan pendampingan praktik. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa penyuluhan kesehatan dengan ceramah dan melakukan praktik cukup efektif.

Abstract

Anak sekolah merupakan salah satu kelompok rentan gizi. Kekurangan gizi dan kelebihan gizi pada anak akan memberi dampak negatif terhadap potensi pertumbuhan ekonomi bangsa. Anak-anak yang kekurangan makan bergizi akan tertinggal pertumbuhan fisik, mental dan intelektual. Hasil Riset Kesehatan Dasar Nasional (Riskesdas) tahun 2018 menunjukkan bahwa prevalensi pendek pada anak usia 5-12 tahun mencapai 30,7%3, prevalensi kurus 11,2%., dan prevalensi gemuk masih tinggi yaitu 18,8%, terdiri dari gemuk 10,8% dan sangat gemuk (obesitas) 8.8%. Salah satu alternatif yang dapat dilakukan untuk pencegahan status gizi buruk pada anak sekolah dasar dan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan tentang pentingnya mengkonsumsi buah dan sayur pada anak sekolah dasar yaitu dengan edukasi gizi dengan media komik terhadap pola konsumsi sayur buah pada anak usia sekolah dasar secara langsung. Edukasi gizi sangat diperlukan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan gizi anak usia sekolah, membentuk sikap positif terhadap makanan bergizi dalam rangka membentuk kebiasaan makan yang baik. Tujuan umum dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada anak usia sekolah dasar ini adalah untuk mensosialisasikan pentingnya konsumsi sayur dan buah. Pengabdian masyarakat ini dilakukan pada tanggal 13 Oktober 2023 di SDN 194 Pekanbaru dengan metode sosialisasi dan pendampingan praktik pada anak usia sekolah dasar. Hasil kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan terhadap pentingnya konsumsi sayur dan buah. Nilai rata-rata pengetahuan sebelum mendapat edukasi berupa buku komik dengan judul “Anak Hebat Makan Sayur Dan Buah” adalah 30% dari 37 siswa. Sedangkan setelah mendapat edukasi adalah 70% dari 37 siswa. Maka, terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan secara statistik antara pengetahuan anak sebelum dan sesudah edukasi.

Abstract

Complementary feeding practices that are not optimal are one of the causing factors of stunting. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between complementary feeding practice and stunting among children in Kampar Districts. Complementary feeding practices include early age of giving complementary feeding, texture, frequency, portion, hygiene, and responsive feeding. Kampar is a high contributor to fish resources but has also been a locus for stunting for several years. The cross-sectional study with a population of all children aged 6-23 months. The proportionate stratified random sampling technique was used with a total sample is 100 children. Body length was measured using a length board, feeding practices were obtained through observation using a checklist sheet, and nutritional intake through food recall for 1x24 hours. Data analysis was univariate and bivariate using the chi-square test. There are 17% stunted and 83% non-stunted. As many as 29% received early complementary feeding, 70% texture was inappropriate, 66% frequency was inappropriate, 69% portion was inappropriate, 83% menu did not vary, 95% was not hygienic, 38% was unresponsive and inadequate intake. There was a significant relationship between responsive feeding and nutritional status (p<0.05)

Abstract

Rengginang cassava has a high carbohydrate content while the protein content is low so it is necessary to add other ingredients such as the addition of catfish. This type of research is an experimental study with a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of four treatments, namely 0% (control), 10%, 20% and 30%, and using 25 semi-trained panelists. Based on the results of the highest average level of preference for the color, aroma, taste and texture of cassava rengginang with the addition of Africancatfish at aconcentration of 10%. The One-Way Anova test indicated a significant effect (р<0,05) in terms of color, aroma, taste, and texture. This study provides an innovation in traditional rengginang products by adding dumbo catfish as an additional protein source. This innovation transforms rengginang from merely a carbohydrate source into a highly nutritious snack rich in protein.

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas kader posyandu dalam upaya pencegahan stunting di Desa Balai Makam, Kabupaten Bengkalis. Metode yang digunakan berupa pelatihan dengan ceramah, handout presentasi, pemutaran video edukasi, diskusi, role play, dan pendalaman teknis pelaksanaan penyuluhan gizi. Hasil observasi menunjukkan peningkatan kapasitas kader, terutama pada kemampuan menyampaikan informasi hasil plotting dan pemberian edukasi gizi sesuai usia balita, dari 0% sebelum pelatihan menjadi 100% setelah pelatihan. Aktivitas lain, seperti pendataan balita, plotting pada KIA, dan pemberian PMT penyuluhan, sudah dilaksanakan dengan baik sebelum pelatihan dan tetap konsisten setelah pelatihan. Pelatihan ini juga membentuk kader sebagai edukator yang dipercaya masyarakat. Dampak jangka pendek dari kegiatan ini adalah meningkatnya kemampuan kader dalam penyuluhan gizi, sedangkan dampak jangka panjang yang diharapkan adalah perbaikan status gizi ibu hamil dan balita.

Abstract

The Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) program aims to monitor the growth and development of infants and young children through Early Initiation of Breastfeeding (IMD), exclusive breastfeeding, and appropriate complementary feeding (MP-ASI) until the age of two years. This study aims to evaluate the role and support of Posyandu cadres in Harjosari Village, who are often the closest and most accessible support system for mothers. To enhance their effectiveness, these cadres need improved knowledge and skills in growth monitoring, breastfeeding support, complementary feeding practices, and counseling techniques. The method used in this activity emphasized hands-on practice and participatory discussion to facilitate deeper understanding and application. Based on pre-test and post-test assessments, cadre knowledge increased by 12.5%. Statistical analysis using the paired t-test showed a significant improvement in knowledge (p-value = 0.0001), indicating the effectiveness of the intervention. The findings suggest that with proper training and support, Posyandu cadres can play a more active role in educating mothers. One recommendation is for cadres to initiate practical classes and discussions using infant and young child feeding counseling cards to improve maternal understanding and practices. This approach can contribute to ensuring that feeding practices are implemented correctly and appropriately, supporting optimal child growth and development.

Abstract

Introduction : Providing nutritional education about healthy foods during childhood not only prevents several causes of major disease and death, but can also reduce health costs and improve the quality of human life. Therefore, elementary school children need to receive education regarding school children's snacks. Researchers have developed nutrition education media in the form of Prilension Stickers (Principles of Balanced and Safe Nutrition) which contain short messages regarding the grouping of healthy snacks according to the principles of balanced nutrition. The objectives of the research is analyze the effect of education on students' ability to identify school children's snacks with the principles of balanced and safe nutrition. Method : This research method is a quasi-experimental pre-post test which analyzes students' ability to identify school children's snacks before and after being given education using Prilension Stickers. The research data consisted of 61 respondents who were students at SDN 2 Pekanbaru City, with a sampling technique using simple random sampling. The data analysis uses SPSS, The Wilcoxon Signed Rank test to evaluate paired samples (scores before and after education). Results : The test Wilcoxon signed rank results show that there is an effect of nutrition education on school children's snacks with Prilension Stickers on students' ability to identify school children's snacks with the principles of balanced and safe nutrition (Sig. < 0.005). Conclusion : It is important to provide nutritional education to increase knowledge in order to change school children's snacking habits and improve children's nutritional status.
